I've got a Siamese cat. He was abandoned by his owner and is living in state - three nests made by neighbours - in our garden. He is absolutely beautiful, aged 11, and a white/cream colour, brown eyes I think. So far we have blinked at each other, me flat on face behind bush in garden.

The lady who feeds him is going away for 6 weeks. She is in a royal state of anxiety so I stepped in. Have been trained to do the feeding, leg massage, etc.

His history is shameful. He has been coming to us for food for ages, finally taken to Battersea, where his so-called owner collected him in 90 minutes. Then left him to starve. So you see I can't not.

Any words of wisdom? I need them.

Ollie's eyes make me smile every time. He's like a little toy, they're so round!

Lanaorana2 · 21/12/2017 16:33

Very undear DF, bad tempered old git. Grin

Well, he's been for a second crap,.some cracked mewing from the bathroom. Won't touch a dreamie, first refusal in living history. I think it could be arthritis but also gut rot.

Has got up, on me now. His arthritis got much better with the youmove, the other stuff was abandoned.

Ah well. See what the vet says.

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/12/2017 16:42

I'd return them to the shop.

cozietoesie · 21/12/2017 17:15

The 'added squeak' seems to have gone down like a lead balloon. Completely uninterested. Sad

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/12/2017 17:56

Until 3am tomorrow morning.

cozietoesie · 21/12/2017 18:14

The brown mice with feathers appear to be his thing. He makes enough noise with them! Sad

Weedsnseeds1 · 21/12/2017 19:02

We have a bird type toy that squeaks in a horribly realistic way when mauled. It's very popular!
Anything with feathers us a winner, even just a feather.
He has a tray of at sushi toys for Christmas, so will see how they are received Smile

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/12/2017 19:20

If you vacuum up the squeaker part they keep on squeaking & you have to change the bag or go insane with the squeaking.

cozietoesie · 21/12/2017 20:01

Ha! Reminiscent of a STBX Smoke Alarm that I had to destroy - and I mean a hammer job - when it reached the end of its life.

Lanaorana2 · 21/12/2017 20:05

He's worse. Barely lifting head. Should I ring vet again?

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/12/2017 20:10

Oh god I would.

cozietoesie · 21/12/2017 20:20

Me also.

Lanaorana2 · 21/12/2017 20:49

Thank you both so much. Vet says wait till tomorrow, appt made at crack of dawn. He's not being sick or having diarrhea so he's not dehydrated yet ie they reckon we can hold on overnight.

Well, I'll be sleeping well. :( It's my 50th bday lunch tomorrow, I was really looking forward to it. Typical eh.) The only thing I can think of that might be the culprit is a) the new NSAIDs but I stopped using them b) a fingertip of clotted cream.

cozietoesie · 21/12/2017 20:58

Is he milk-intolerant?

Weedsnseeds1 · 21/12/2017 20:59

Lana do you have PDSA or similar near you?
He doesn't sound good at all.

Lanaorana2 · 21/12/2017 21:02

I am signing off now, going to take the little lad to bed for an early night. Laterz, tomorrow should be a relief.

Is he a furball type cat? Old girl used to vomit them all the time and got a huge one stuck when she was about 12.
Went flat and limp after a few days off colour. Ended up with surgical removal

Weedsnseeds1 · 21/12/2017 21:06

Fingers crossed for you

Weedsnseeds1 · 22/12/2017 12:17

Any news?

Lanaorana2 · 22/12/2017 12:22

He's still at vet/hosp bit of vet. They can't find anything wrong with him so they are doing bloods in the hosp.

Unfortunately he went for the charming lady vet and has been sedated and admitted.

He ate two chewsticks this am but he is definitely not right and he had a sort of coniption last night, started skin shivering all over and twitching for hours.

On the upside, the lady vet said proudly 'he likes me'. Even after the sedation.

Also on the upside, NB's home has finally arrived so I can make it tonight. The gong went at 6am and the caretaker and NB seem to be fine.

Do you think it's his meds? I am sorry, this is the worst day for it to happen too.

Happy Birthday.

Weedsnseeds1 · 22/12/2017 13:52

And yes, happy birthday!
As a fellow December birthday person, hope you can enjoy the day ( under the circumstances) and everyone forgets it's Christmas for a few hours and concentrates on you!

Lanaorana2 · 22/12/2017 17:15

I've had a bloody brilliant lunch with my old dear mates, interrupted by having to do mercy dash w Mr C back from vet. Then back to lunch when he was home and calming down.

His bloods are fine, but he is really stressy and shaken up tho'. Bleeding from being shaved for bloods, which is fine, but poor little cat eh, more stress on top of feeling weedy. He still won''t eat but I shall be trying soups later.

Thank you all for being so lovely. The vet said she couldn't find anything wrong with him, so the weird fitting thing last night could be a one off. Also the lack of appetite - she's given him a vit injection to boost appetite. Maybe just a bug.

But at least it's not serious. I am not moving for 36 hours to keep the eye on him.
