I've got a Siamese cat. He was abandoned by his owner and is living in state - three nests made by neighbours - in our garden. He is absolutely beautiful, aged 11, and a white/cream colour, brown eyes I think. So far we have blinked at each other, me flat on face behind bush in garden.

The lady who feeds him is going away for 6 weeks. She is in a royal state of anxiety so I stepped in. Have been trained to do the feeding, leg massage, etc.

His history is shameful. He has been coming to us for food for ages, finally taken to Battersea, where his so-called owner collected him in 90 minutes. Then left him to starve. So you see I can't not.

Any words of wisdom? I need them.

I've got it, finally. It's the Red! (PB currently going berserk over a new cerise mouse with matching tail feathers.)

Lanaorana2 · 19/01/2018 21:38

Yayayay|!! Red in tooth and claw!!!

That makes playtime a lot easier.

F snicker. you make me laff and laff. Ponto must be about 15 now.

Just seen 3 Billboards - go. Frances Mc D is the best sweary heroine ever, she channels MN faithfully throughout.

The contrast definition of red must be stronger if you're colourblind as most cats are, presumably. Would a black mouse work? or neon ones?

I've no idea what he can see. I suspect him of having sight problems anyway...........

Lanaorana2 · 19/01/2018 22:26

Yes he might need glasses wh would explain the fondness of one-colour mice. Can cats get laser surgery? Don't see why not.

However, sometimes I think Mr C is going blind but then he surprises me by showing 20:20 vision. Not just for food. Plays deaf sometimes but that's different. On me now, washing. Hasn't eaten much today but is purring.

New type of cat grass awaits taste-testing, undoubtedly at 4am.

cozietoesie · 19/01/2018 22:28

Doesn't grass eating lead to upchucking?

Ollivander84 · 19/01/2018 22:29

The vets were concerned about ollies eyes but decided they were just strangely giant. He can spot a laser pen or the smallest bit of ribbon at 100 paces. Although he can hear a pouch opening but goes surprisingly hard of hearing when he is shouted to come inside Hmm

YetAnotherSpartacus · 19/01/2018 23:38

^ definitely a cat then.

Allergictoironing · 20/01/2018 08:47

I tend to get slightly LESS upchucking from mine when they have fresh grass, which is surprising because like you I thought it was eaten to encourage it.

Lanaorana2 · 20/01/2018 10:13

A terrible night. Started brilliantly with Mr C going all kitteny and offering belly for rub for hours, then holding my hand and purring me to sleep.

2am - peckish, stood in hall shouting for food (him not me).
3am - repeat. I get up in pitch dark and fill bowl with chocolate buttons by mistake.
310 am - dropping off to sleep, attacked on arm (me not him)
311 am - fill bowl with Exigence, treat self to packet of crisps
312 - Exigence rejected. Grass rejected, theatrical retching noises.
314 I play hard and go to sleep despite crisp packet being loudly shredded.

Diplomatic relations are now restored thanks to a packet of Duck Fillet Mini Strips and Quilt. Must buy savlon.

Ollie woke me up by whining continuously and then clambering behind the blinds, getting stuck and howling Hmm

PBoy sitting on the bed next to me. Smile

Figuier · 20/01/2018 23:42

Is there a photo evidence?
(long time lurker)

cozietoesie · 20/01/2018 23:56

There is - but I fear it's very dark. (I still haven't got the hang of this device's camera.) Blush

Lanaorana2 · 21/01/2018 12:38

YAYAYAYAYAY!!!! Another great leap for Coziekind!! Well done darling PB, so brave and loving!!

Dark pic, pah, no worries, counts as artistic.

Got an M&S rack of lamb for 2 quid in yellow sticker bonanza yesterday. It's 40 quid a kilo, isn't that more expensive than gold or something? Me and Mr C will be sampling it later. He's in bed now, it's sleeting but he loves chops.

£2!! I'm jealous. Checked out our new M and S foodhall the other day and no yellow stickers at all Sad
My boy came in with a polystyrene ball covered in red felt the other day. It's his new favourite toy. No idea where it came from, never seen it before!

cozietoesie · 21/01/2018 18:21

'chops' ?? (I'd hesitate to call them that at that (original) price.) Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/01/2018 19:03

Did he let you touch him while he was there?.

Our new ones empty, I bet they've got loads of yellow stickers. It's designed to be discrete so you could drive right past it to the huge glaring Tesco store.

Lanaorana2 · 21/01/2018 19:12

Get down there Fluffy asap. The Rack of Splendour is in the oven now, Mr C and self are pre-prandially resting.

Chops are really pricy C. My faves are the mutton ones you get in Iceland, they taste very old skool.

My cousin's been asbo-ed. He is catsitting two Bengals and is now offering a moggy kitten to the original owner by way of substitution. They're not going back. He throws sticks and the cats retrieve them, then the cats present sticks to his cleaner when he's out.

Stop making Fluffy envious! Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/01/2018 19:21

Your Iceland sells mutton? Ours has pizza & 300 varieties of breaded chicken.

Doesn't the owner want them back?

Lanaorana2 · 21/01/2018 19:41

Yes 'but they are a little bit naughty'.

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/01/2018 19:48

I don't think one moggies going to cut it. Plenty of rescue bengals out there though.
