I've got a Siamese cat. He was abandoned by his owner and is living in state - three nests made by neighbours - in our garden. He is absolutely beautiful, aged 11, and a white/cream colour, brown eyes I think. So far we have blinked at each other, me flat on face behind bush in garden.

The lady who feeds him is going away for 6 weeks. She is in a royal state of anxiety so I stepped in. Have been trained to do the feeding, leg massage, etc.

His history is shameful. He has been coming to us for food for ages, finally taken to Battersea, where his so-called owner collected him in 90 minutes. Then left him to starve. So you see I can't not.

Any words of wisdom? I need them.

I have to "angry handbag" one of mine. By that I mean, lift up the cat and hold it tucked under my arm like a clutch bag. She's a bitey little wagon otherwise but seems to put up with being carted around like this. It's like having a newborn baby and I'm very adept at doing things one-handed.

Lanaorana2 · 16/01/2018 21:31

That sounds a fine idea. I'm really sick of it, and have knackered legs at the mo so falling not a great idea.

Say No? (I know it will come hard. Grin)

TheLongRider · 16/01/2018 21:57

A firm "No!" doesn't tend to work with the Mr. Cs of this world. He'll just look hurt and won't understand why his human is cursing him as they go arse over tip for the millionth time. I'd say Mr. C is very good at inducing guilt in his human.

I've had a mog that would persist in trying to get under my feet. Short of drop-kicking the beast every time, picking him up was the best result for everybody.

TheLongRider · 16/01/2018 21:59

Mr. C is also a mog and not a higher being of gentle breeding a la NewBoy. There's no point in trying to reason with him.

cozietoesie · 16/01/2018 22:21

Actually, there's little point trying to reason with CATS! Grin I've found that attitude is all............

Ollivander84 · 16/01/2018 22:29

O has had a nap, some custard and a cuddle. Perfect day he says

Lanaorana2 · 16/01/2018 22:33

I've bawled NO (and a bit worse). He's stormed to bed.

He knows it's not as bad as being Lifted, which he really sees as an affront to his hefty dignity. Wriggling toes deliciously now, not feeling guilty. Well, not really.

Oddly enough the "angry handbag" hold is usually better tolerated than a full lift with one hand under back paws and tail and the other hand under the front paws.

cozietoesie · 16/01/2018 22:42

It will come easier next time, Lana. Smile (Interspersed with lots of love of course.)

Lanaorana2 · 17/01/2018 11:14

All fine, had a full extended cuddle last night with complementary paw massage, then kipped in each others' arms. Terrific purring and cooing.

I might try Angry Handbag for the next v-e-t visit, the normal hold is off limits because it hurts his arthritis.

We usually end up with Raging Rucksack, where he jumps on my back to escape and screams. Grin

I suspect we may also be heading to the vet soon as I spotted him grooming. Waiting to see if normal grooming or going OTT

Lanaorana2 · 17/01/2018 13:55

Slumber afternoon.

Contented Mr C! He's a big boy, isn't he!

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/01/2018 14:51

He's got massive ears like asbo.

Our vet uses angry handbag, not one peep out of the cat. If I pick him up the proper way he complains. You'd think I picked him up by one whisker from the fuss he makes.

cozietoesie · 17/01/2018 14:52

He sure is. Wink

The house is now at a decent temperature. PBoy has therefore left his LWT and is ........roaming. (To the accompaniment of various minor crash sounds. )

Lanaorana2 · 17/01/2018 19:19

Our local Poundland is closing down! Aiiee!! But....I have just been in and checked the colour of the toy mice. Is a leopard-print catnip-filled one (ie x100) any good to PB? They are heavily discounted ie 75p, hence my generosity.

Also in the spirit of generosity I shd add get rid of the catnip first before you spend the next 30 years picking it out of your shoes, ears, etc.

I doubt it, I fear. He seems wedded to the blasted brown things.

Lanaorana2 · 17/01/2018 20:24

Never mind eh, his preferences must remain paramount. How is the wicked weather with you - the media is going beserk in case of cloud or ice, begging people not to go out etc. Talk about The Snowflake Generation.

Ollivander84 · 17/01/2018 20:31

O woke me up to open the window again. I did, he shrieked and ran back in. Doesn't do rain Hmm

cozietoesie · 17/01/2018 21:10

'rain'?? We have SNOW! (Not that PBoy knows what that really is.) Grin

Lanaorana2 · 17/01/2018 21:28

Is there a pic of Pboy knocking about? Haven't had visual for ages....

OP posts:
Ollivander84 · 17/01/2018 21:29

Hail and pouring rain. We never get snow

cozietoesie · 17/01/2018 22:44

If asked, PBoy would equally deny we ever had any. He knows that it's paler outside than normal, that's all. Smile

Ollivander84 · 17/01/2018 22:49

Grin I am home. Standard routine of cuddles/kisses, hunting the ball in the cave, scoffing food and then snoozing on my shoulder. He likes a routine
