Evening all, this is a new thread all about gorgeous Heidi, following on from the thread started by Gatekeeper.

We answered her thread call to give this tiny kitty a new home and we drove from Devon to Durham and back in 24hours to do so...

Now Heidi is settling well at our place after being looked after perfectly by Gatekeeper, and this thread is all about the new life of a very little and brave cat with the bushiest tale known to catkind!

If anyone can link to the original thread it would be much appreciated :)

eee StewPots...a growth spurt. She will be like a mountain lion by Christmas Grin...or like Clifford the Big Red Dog (bloody hated that programme when dc were small)

Gatekeeper · 28/11/2017 20:52

my word Cannot!!!!!! He's a big lad isn't he ?

aww if you are nearish by you could have called in and worshipped at the alter of Heidi with Rington's tea and biscuits

StewPots · 28/11/2017 20:55

@Gatekeeper yes she's eaten loads for dinner as well :) she's just spent time with DD but went under her bed after a while but she seemed happy enough. She's still a bit apprehensive at times with DS but only when he moves a little too quickly..She does like his bed though :)

I noted that her poos were huge Shock... not sure how a little girl could crank out such corkers !

Alwaysinmyheart · 28/11/2017 21:01

Aw such a happy heartwarming thread! 💜🐈

StewPots · 28/11/2017 21:13

Err I'm going to go out on a limb here and say she hasn't been spayed judging by her tonight!

It's been a long while since I've had a female cat and they were spayed ASAP but... tonight she's been properly yowling, it wasn't hunger/thirst etc. She's been rolling round the floor loads and rubbing her head on everything and everyone (but especially me, and especially after I showered), she's up at the window yowling there and then she sprayed the curtain!

Going on that I'd say it's possible she was in heat, so I'm ringing the vet first thing and getting her booked in for hopefully next week. She's calmly sat going to sleep again now but she had a right mad few hours there. It probably wasn't stress as she seemed happy enough jumping on us and rubbing her head etc, has eaten well, explored, toileted... but there are a lot of toms in my row so it's possible she can smell them Confused

StewPots · 28/11/2017 22:27

And she is so so loud, like a tom can be! I've never heard a cat except a tom on the prowl make so much noise! Grin

DarkPeakScouter · 28/11/2017 22:50

Yowzers - is the curtain ok?

StewPots · 28/11/2017 22:59

Dark yes I'll take them down and wash tomorrow :) she's just started up again, chirruping and then yowels. It sounds like the "hello" cat on you tube but deeper and louder! She's coming up for strokes though and being affectionate as normal but I think I'll resign myself to another sleep deprived evening SmileConfused

Morning all Confusedwell after sleeping until 3.45, Heidi has been on top form. Walking round meowing loudly in and out of rooms, making herself known.

I can't get back to sleep so I'm getting up shortly for a cup of tea. It's the newborn stage all over again!

I'm meeting my Dad today for lunch & present swapping (he's visiting from Scotland) and haven't wrapped his yet so I guess I could look at it that Heidi is kicking my arse into gear as I'll do that shortly Grin

Ah Misty came into heat when she was newly arrived, a week of no sleep as she called out to any male in the world, and actually backed up to one male visitor looking over her shoulder at him!

Gatekeeper · 29/11/2017 06:20

Oh my word!!!!!!!!! Thank goodness you are keeping her in otherwise you will be a Granny sooner than you'd hoped. There must be undone toms near you as she was just kittenish here. She has gone from sweet fluff ball to full on vamp!

StewPots · 29/11/2017 06:35

Morning ladies. Yes she was furiously rubbing herself everywhere last night and sprayed on a few things, she's been quieter than I thought overnight but still intermittent yowling. She's so so loud!

Have emailed the vet who looked after Harry for me just now, they're a great practice so hopefully I can get her done soon. I'm a bad sleeper anyway so Sominex until then for me and possibly earplugs. DH can see to her instead Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/11/2017 06:42

It does sound like heat. Once you've had a cat on heat you don't forget the racket they make.

Lots of YouTube videos of cats on heat.

She will want to be out so security needs to be extra tight.

StewPots · 29/11/2017 06:54

@Fluffycloudland77 yep I've watched a few last night and it all matches up. She's restlessly going to the windows all around the house meowing and yowling.

Oh, another thing bolstering my suspicion, apart from the look and constant chattering and huge confidence and comments from PPs, that she has Maine Coon in her somewhere is that when I took a shower last night she followed me in.

She then "stood" against the bath, obviously got a little splash from me doing my thing in the shower, and it didn't bother her. I've read Maine Coons love water as they were once sea faring cats. I haven't told DH, he will steal her as a boat kitty otherwise!

OP posts:
ferrier · 29/11/2017 07:29

I was going to say she doesn't look so nfc as her cheeks and ruff aren't really fluffy enough. Though obviously she could just be crossbreed/moggy (perish the thought!).

StewPots · 29/11/2017 07:34

@ferrier no she's not quite there is she? They look lush cats though. I'd never really heard of them until MIL mentioned it, I've always had black and white moggies before :)

She's certainly something though in many different ways. Currently being a Madam and bouncing on and off my knee Grin

Look up Siberian Forest cats. She looks very like our old Siberian Mia. Gorgeous puss. She is very lucky to have found her forever home with you guys. What a happy ending.

StewPots · 29/11/2017 07:53

@Isadora2007 oh I've not heard of them either, will google now. Well if nothing else, with her thick coat and fluffy tufts paws and ears she's definitely a Northern kitty! Grin

Don't have much to add, just that I'm so happy that people like @StewPots and @Gatecrasher exist in the world.
Give beautiful Heidi a chin rub from me Smile

PinguPaws · 29/11/2017 08:14

Blush sorry I meant to say @Gatekeeper, not @Gatecrasher.

I've only had 3 hours sleep, I nearly put cornflakes in my dogs food bowl this morning.
