Evening all, this is a new thread all about gorgeous Heidi, following on from the thread started by Gatekeeper.

We answered her thread call to give this tiny kitty a new home and we drove from Devon to Durham and back in 24hours to do so...

Now Heidi is settling well at our place after being looked after perfectly by Gatekeeper, and this thread is all about the new life of a very little and brave cat with the bushiest tale known to catkind!

If anyone can link to the original thread it would be much appreciated :)

@gatekeeper that’s a great photo!!

StewPots · 26/12/2017 17:31

Happy Belated Christmas all! Heidi had a nice day, loves FIL to the point of actually going to sleep in his lap, hasn't done that with us yet, we have to get her ourselves if we want hugs!

She had a bit of pork, turkey and beef for dinner last night mixed up in her food.

But it's a good job Santa came the night before as last night the desperation of her Dreamie addiction showed...this was on the floor this morning....naughty kitty, but she couldn't get them all!

Naughty Heidi !! 😂

StewPots · 26/12/2017 17:46

Something obviously disturbed her mid-theft!! Grin

Gatekeeper · 27/12/2017 09:21

Haha....I imagine her pinging an extra long and sharp claw out like a flick knife and cutting through the bag. Disturbed mid-act though Grin

StewPots · 27/12/2017 09:24

@Gatekeeper yes I think so! They are now wrapped in a bag in a cupboard just in case...Grin

I'd seen the videos on YouTube and heard the horror stories of all these cats caught up in the Dreamies addiction epidemic...Doing everything they can to access the crispy cheesy goodness inside the pack...I never thought it would be one of mine Grin

Happy New Year all xx

BulletFox · 01/01/2018 00:51

Happy new year.

Hope Heidi doesn't go a-wandering in 2018 Grin

overnightangel · 02/01/2018 00:20

Happy new year Heidi fans!

shhhfastasleep · 02/01/2018 08:00

Take a look at Jackson Galaxy on YouTube. I thought I knew all I needed to know about cat behaviour- turns out I didn't. Cats Protection also has some useful stuff online.

StewPots · 02/01/2018 14:20

Happy New Year everyone...sorry it's belated but I've been really busy working and then being really ill :( I thought drinking whisky on NYE would kill the viral bacteria but that's a nope.

Laid up in the sofa since yesterday, very hot one min cold the next as well as other associated crap. Heidi hasn't left my side though. Has slept next to me and hasn't yowled at all so she must know I'm not well bless her. She is currently asleep on my pile of blankets that I've kicked off because I'm too hot again Wails Shock

Here she is in full-on snooze mode...

Still as cute as ever! 🙂

BluebellTheDonkey · 02/01/2018 14:36

Bless her, looking after you. Have had a similar illness and boy cat has been sleeping next to me on the bed. This morning he actually sat on my lap, first time since we got him a year ago. Cats seem to just know when we need comfort.

BulletFox · 02/01/2018 14:44

Wow look at the whiskers!!!

shhhfastasleep · 02/01/2018 17:03

That is some floof right there.

Gatekeeper · 03/01/2018 12:56

Darling little girl...so sweet and thoughtful

Sherlock would just go " WAH WAH WAH" (He doesn't meow) right in my ear until I dragged my sorry carcass from my sickbed and fed him

Get well soon Stew

StewPots · 03/01/2018 13:06

@Gatekeeper yes she has been very thoughtful, although hasn't been able to stop dragging herself the whole way round my divan bed most of last night despite the fact she has two scratching posts HmmGrin

StewPots · 03/01/2018 13:06

And yes, the whiskers are INSANE in length Grin

Here she is doing the weird kneading thing that she only does when we are wearing dressing gowns...she had also been licking it prior to this photo being taken. Strange kitty Grin

'Making bread' as my DP calls it x

Jux · 03/01/2018 22:50

I’ve just read both threads, what a gorgeous little cat! And how lucky she was finding Gatekeeper and then you!

I call it making bread too. If you see very small kittens suckling you’ll see them doing the same thing to their mother’s breast - I think it probably gets the milk flowing?

Years ago, I had a cat who would suck and lick my left sleeve at the wrist. After a while most of my tops had holes there! She only started after the last of her kittens had gone to its forever home, so I attributed to her need to clean babies Grin and my wrist and forearm were about the right size.

One of my cats now, she holds a piece of my dressing gown in her mouth while she kneads. It’s a bit weird but terribly cute too.

I do wonder if it’s a cat-psychological thing where maybe they were weaned a bit early? A bit like Freud’s Oral Fixation (which is probably a rubbish theory anyway, most of his were, weren’t they?).

Anyway, Heidi is beautiful, a tail with a small cat attached!

shhhfastasleep · 04/01/2018 07:59

Don't whatever you do look on TinyKittens.com. Really, don't. Grin

The kneading thing is a preparation for sleep/comfort thing. It's totally normal and lovely.
