Currently in the middle of making arrangements to meet - he's a breed rescue - and yet to check over the house for 'breakability' issues etc. (He's only young - and it's a good few years since I had a cat that could potentially leap living with me.)

Yikes!!

Well - you mentioned Siamese character. I suggest he might well enjoy bed a bit the minute he hops in.

Inbuilt genetic guidance will kick in, helpfully allowing time for real life and love to manifest, thus opening his little furry heart.

I am not going to say any more in case I sing again or shed a tear at his previous so-called 'training'. In the meantime, catnip is no bad way to spend a summer evening (says the wine drinker).

Lanaorana2 · 28/08/2017 22:46

I have just gone laldy on a pot of waitrose ice cream, currently on special offer at a bargain 2.75 given it is easily worth thousands in deliciousness. Then seen a pic of someone I know in the paper in a bikini 'looking unbelievable at 47'.

I can't get off the sofa. Shall I start a new thread?

Pancakeflipper · 28/08/2017 23:05

Just spent a good 30mins reading this thread from the beginning.

Only have 'moggies' so the Siamese traits are fascinating to read. For years been intrigued by my friend's very proud and no nonsense Siamese. When I go round he's so possessive of his owners.

prettybird · 28/08/2017 23:35

I've mentioned before that our brothers, who were 6 months when we got them, weren't allowed on their previous owners' bedroom (they were constrained to a single small living room Shockno wonder they were driving their owners mad with their energy Wink)

Even though they were young, it still took them 3 months before they would come on to the bed in the evening. You're making fab progress with a traumatised trained older cat Cozietosie. Eventually his Siamese instincts will win out.

cozietoesie · 29/08/2017 00:07

He has the Siamese instinct for ritual right enough. I'm getting some swish tail from across the hall because he hasn't had his midnight chicken yet.

Ooh yes, do start another fred, L old bean! I think this should be nominated for Classic freds, would you mind if we did cozie? It would be nice to archive Newboy's journey into Best Home.

cozietoesie · 29/08/2017 01:33

I reckon I'll just tag onto 'Cats are Catting', Mantra. After all, he's here now. Smile

Nooooooo! This is my toto happy/ need to check for updates thread!

(Best I Cosietosie starts it as then her posts are highlighted...)

Kibobear · 29/08/2017 09:39

I'm ridiculously excited about the bed exploring. I can't imagine how sad he must have been without both lurrrve and bed. Little Girlfriend complains if we aren't in bed when she wants us to be - we have been well trained.

Lanaorana2 · 29/08/2017 09:40

Me protesting as well! Long threads take so long to load I could easily ingest a glass of wine. Now there's a threat.

Will you do it C? The Further Adventures of Newboy? Newboy Goes Forth? Newboy Flies Again?

Kibobear · 29/08/2017 09:47

The bedtime stories of Newboy?

cozietoesie · 29/08/2017 10:12

I was woken last night at about 04.15 by assorted faffing around and stair-charging. Then I felt 'someone' jump onto me in bed - from the floor by the side of the bed. It didn't last for more than a moment and .I just pretended to be still asleep.

Very stealthy Grin did you do that holding your breath and trying to stay completely still thing?

YetAnotherSpartacus · 29/08/2017 10:35

How about enticing him into bed by givi g him the midnight roast chicken there? Or would that blow his furry little mind?

Ollivander84 · 29/08/2017 10:38

I once was eating some pringles in bed as a snack watching a film. Ollie jumped off the bed and reappeared with a raw chicken wing and proceeded to dump it on the duvet to eat. Apparently he wanted a snack too Hmm
I had to set a new rule of no raw food in the bedroom

cozietoesie · 29/08/2017 10:50

Might I enquire gently how he got it? (I assume you don't leave plates of the things lying around?)

OP posts:
Ollivander84 · 29/08/2017 10:51

He was raw fed for a while Grin so it was his own food

Allergictoironing · 29/08/2017 11:02

Another step forwards Smile

And another vote for "the Further Adventures of Newboy" thread - I'm loving hearing how he progresses!

cozietoesie · 29/08/2017 11:57

This is the best I can do. (Apologies for the lack of English subtitles but the reference that I had has gone from YouTube etc for copyright reasons. )

ooo... I've been reading this thread for a while. So excited by the bed progress! Go Newboy... you know you want to Grin

NoSquirrels · 29/08/2017 13:19

Yay! NewBoy on the bed Grin

He's warming up...

LivingInMidnight · 29/08/2017 13:44

I think he would love this! It's very strange because it does not look comfortable at all but I can't get my cats out of them. In fact the first one I bought, I unpacked it, put it on the floor, turned around to get rid of the wrappings and when I turned back the grumpy one was already in it.

Ollivander84 · 29/08/2017 13:52

Living - I need one of those! Ollie sleeps on his cardboard scratch box so that is perfect!

cozietoesie · 29/08/2017 13:53

Thanks for the tip, Living. I was certainly impressed by how quickly he took to the other one - and I'm going to have to buy one or two more in any case. Smile
