Currently in the middle of making arrangements to meet - he's a breed rescue - and yet to check over the house for 'breakability' issues etc. (He's only young - and it's a good few years since I had a cat that could potentially leap living with me.)

Yikes!!

I only glance him fleetingly. He's still .......adjusting out of his bond with his previous owner.

Ah .. poor thing .. how long have you had him now ?

cozietoesie · 16/07/2017 16:20

About 9 days.

cozietoesie · 16/07/2017 17:32

Sorry. 10/11 days. I forgot it was Sunday.

There is plenty of time for the love-in, indeed a bit of a build-up will only sweeten it.

Just had a visitor - 'not a cat person'. Natch Mr C furred up to her, rolled, purred, displayed belly and winked enticingly, etc. Then it went badly wrong - she was collecting one of the reduced M&S chickens and his charm, er turned. I may have said 'get out while you still have two working legs'. :)

I recall that Seniorboy took a month to even show his face when my mother died. ('And the rest' as DBro said.) Siamese bonding is as strong as strong.

RubbishMantra · 16/07/2017 20:36

Oh no! Prepare for angst ridden wailing gnashing of teeth from chicken deprived Mr. C. (Don't tell him I'm having a gigantic tarragon chicken breast for supper!)

Newboy's getting there though isn't he cozie? And Lana's right - the milestone First Cuddle will be all the more rewarding for all his coy demurring and flashes of ankle. Grin

cozietoesie · 16/07/2017 20:41

He's getting there now, Mantra. DBro set him back a bit. (By deciding on eyeballing him and speaking to him/touching him.)

I would have thought your DBro would know better than to have tried to touch him this early on, as he's been used to cats including Siamese. My beloved SIL who really knows her cat stuff didn't even ask to see fraidy Boycat when she came round recently, and asked if it really was OK to visit him with a torch (from a distance of course) when I offered to show her him curled up in his favorite wardrobe - yes a black cat at the back corner of a dark wardrobe is virtually invisible without a torch, especially if it's round a sort of corner.

Allergictoironing · 16/07/2017 21:30

Meant to say - this was a full year after the cats moved in with me.

cozietoesie · 16/07/2017 21:39

He was desperate. I've forgiven him now. (But with some stern admonitions. Wink)

cozietoesie · 16/07/2017 22:37

Well. It was my own fault for leaving the chicken thigh out to chambré, I guess..............

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 16/07/2017 22:40

Sorry. I have no idea where that bolding came from. Blush

Lanaorana2 · 16/07/2017 23:15

Nicking food isn't desperately naughty, not really, esp if you have something else you can eat without stomping back to the shop :) But I expect he appreciated the emotional security of you telling him to pack it in.

cozietoesie · 17/07/2017 14:23

I think he spoke last night. Smile (Well there was certainly a sound I didn't recognise. It could have been a rat being strangled in the wainscoting - who knows - but I treated it as a comment and responded.)

OP posts:
Allergictoironing · 17/07/2017 14:41

Well if it WAS an expiring rat, Newboy would likely be the cause of that so good either way Grin

cozietoesie · 17/07/2017 14:49

Grin Lordy. (Although even Seniorboy had some notches on his belt - from his youth rather than his later years.)

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 17/07/2017 22:26

He's downstairs - looking for chicken thighs, I suspect. Grin

PosiePootlePerkins · 17/07/2017 22:27

Well best you produce some then cozieWinkGrin

cozietoesie · 17/07/2017 22:31

None until tomorrow. Grin

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 17/07/2017 23:10

One of the 'problems' with him is that he covers up when using his trays. I'd forgotten about that - Seniorboy didn't have the muscle strength to do it in later years.

OP posts:
RubbishMantra · 18/07/2017 14:32

Is he a digger when he uses his tray then cozie? Some cats love to fling it about with gay abandon. If that's the case, a covered one keeps the flung about litter contained. You just need to take the door until he's comfy using it.
