Currently in the middle of making arrangements to meet - he's a breed rescue - and yet to check over the house for 'breakability' issues etc. (He's only young - and it's a good few years since I had a cat that could potentially leap living with me.)

Yikes!!

He was out of hiding and watching me emptying a feeding ball. (The food treats were the wrong size for it and had to come out.) A small thing but.................

It's real progress though. He's all curious about his new permanent employee.

NoSquirrels · 13/07/2017 07:51

That sounds good Cozie! Judging your feeble efforts to please Grin

cushioncovers · 13/07/2017 08:22

How was newboy overnight cozie?

SparklyMagpie · 13/07/2017 09:02

How was Newboy last night OP?

Lanaorana2 · 13/07/2017 10:33

Cracking news. How sweet of tiny Newboy!

Did you sleep ok? I thought of you as I clung to the mattress piping last night, Mr C starfishing and purring in centre of bed.

Specifically, I thought The Very first night C has a blissful kip, all ipad and books, enough duvet, a little Someone will hop up. Back to waking up pre-dawn hanging out of the bed, head on the bedside table, feet like ice and being screamed at for food. :)

cozietoesie · 13/07/2017 10:34

Well. He's still there and still noshing. Smile

To put up a physical barrier to the pacing, I've put his middle tray in the upstairs sitting room - now more or less his empire - and closed the door to the dressing room it was in.

He came into my bedroom last night to drink some water while I was lying there with the lights out. I thought that was quite good. (He has a water bowl in the sitting room as well so could always have gone there.)

He wanted to have a good look! while you were asleep! That is a fine move forward.

When Mr C was new he took a keen interest in me lying down. Wanted a shufti and a sniff to see what he was dealing with. Obv I was so excited I immediately woke up, but it's the thought that counts.

Ollivander84 · 13/07/2017 11:43

I remember Ollie nosying at me while I was asleep. He's now stood on the neighbours trampoline "singing" which seems to consist of owwwwwwweeeee over and over
Be careful what you wish for Grin
I guess the difference is he had no bond and so immediately decided to bond with me whereas Newboy is having to almost swap sides? His brain is probably whizzing away about it all

cozietoesie · 13/07/2017 11:47

That's the problem for him. I knew it could be lengthy but this lad is so very very bright .............

Ollivander84 · 13/07/2017 11:50

You do pick them Grin
On the plus side he's going to be so much fun once he's settled

TheCatOfAthenry · 13/07/2017 15:27

@Ollivander84 my black cat Biscuit is also a singer. I think he might be a secret pop star like Hannah Montana.

I seem to be picking Newboy up tonight......
RubbishMantra · 13/07/2017 16:18

Grin at Hannah Montana cat. Adolescence will be fun... I got treated to some of Little M's warblings this morning, he likes bouncing up and down the stairs to produce a (quite pleasing) ungungungungngung sound. He doesn't make any actual cat noises at all.

Sounds like curiosity is getting the better of Newboy, Cozie. And yes, I am well jel that you have a dressing room.

Ollivander84 · 13/07/2017 16:29

Biscuit looks like he might be more tuneful. I just get texts off the neighbour saying "your cat is howling hello again. Thinks he's Adele or something" Hmm

cozietoesie · 13/07/2017 17:38

I picked up his meds at the vet and I seem to have been given Zylkene. (Along with the Feliway.) Fingers crossed that it helps the lad.

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/07/2017 22:03

Do you think he can smell seniorboy?.

cozietoesie · 13/07/2017 22:10

I doubt it. There's been a fair amount of - pretty purposeful - cleaning taken place since Seniorboy died.

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 13/07/2017 22:15

Also. He's not spraying. (I have a vague memory of his first owner making some choked-off remark about spraying at Checkpoint Charlie. And I know, from today, that he was attending his previous vet for 'stress issues'. Spraying sounds like a distinct possibility.)

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 13/07/2017 22:20

He's just slunk into the room and gone under the bed. The lights are on. Smile

OP posts:
NoSquirrels · 13/07/2017 22:21

So - ten days, first night doesn't count, your DB spooked him at the weekend, he's eating, drinking and toileting, but remaining aloof (but will enter your presence on his terms, and perhaps tolerate you in his in certain situations).

I still think he's going to push it as far as felinely possible and then smother you with enslaving love...

NoSquirrels · 13/07/2017 22:22

Ha! X-post.

Lights are on... Grin

cozietoesie · 13/07/2017 22:33

As for me, I'm sitting trying to read the multi-page Gebrauchsanleitung for his new toy. And I thought the activity centre instructions were bad! Grin

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 13/07/2017 22:36

Well. When I'm here with him, I can ignore him nicely. He's ferociously bright though - picking up the verbal clues in record time.

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 13/07/2017 23:14

Lots of activity sounds.

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 14/07/2017 00:15

He's in and out of this room. I'm studiously going about my own business. (Except that I announce if I'm going downstairs. Wink)
