Snorgmaiden has been admitted to the emergency vets with a high temperature, conjunctivitis, and enlarged stomach and enlarged lymph nodes. Thought something was t right last night but not overly worried. Slightly worried this morning but thought I was being neurotic. Took one look at her when I got home from work and straight to the emergency vets. Hopefully an infection but worst case may be lymphoma. She's having loads of tests Tonight and they will ring me later. Need my hand holding you lovely lot. Sad

Yes - you were unsure that SeniorBoy would make it into his dotage years, weren't you Cozie? He went on to surprise you all.

cozietoesie · 21/02/2017 15:42

No one told him otherwise, Mantra. Wink

Toddlerteaplease · 21/02/2017 15:44

Hopefully she will perk up when she has some more calories in her. Just don't want her to suffer.

I understand. Fingers crossed, anyway. Smile

Vinorosso74 · 21/02/2017 16:51

Here's hoping she perks up and they find out what the lumps are.
Our cat had a feeding tube for a while was ok to get water and the special food in. I was pleased it wasn't in long term mind. I think once they start eating again they soon perk up.

Toddlerteaplease · 21/02/2017 17:18

I've bought some cat pate to mix with her milk and a kitten feeding bottle as she might prefer that to a syringe in her mouth if it's sore.

Aw. Give yourself a bit of a breather Toddler. You must be absolutely wrung out with it all. Hopefully they can find out what is wrong and she'll perk up with treatment.

Toddlerteaplease · 21/02/2017 18:36

I am exhausted! Fortune I am not working to much this week. Worried about next week. Hopefully she'll either have perked up and able to be left or the worst will have happened!

Can you go to bed for a rest? Taking her with you if needs be. (Lots of towels should do it.)

cozietoesie · 21/02/2017 20:20

Sorry. I forgot she was back at the vets.

You need a lie down though - even if you can't sleep.

Weedsnseeds1 · 21/02/2017 20:35

She's under supervision at the vet's and you trust them to be honest with you if she goes further downhill. Test results will be back soon and you will know more then. It's unfortunate that she needs to be at the vet's, but that generally hinders their recovery because they hate it much. Catch 22.

HemanOrSheRa · 21/02/2017 20:35

You must be Toddler. Get some rest! Funny, isn't it? I work with elderly people and can pretty much handle anything. If my pets are ill though, I become a gibbering wreck.

Toddlerteaplease · 21/02/2017 20:54

Just been to see her and spent an hour with her. She is groggy from the anaesthetic but much happier. Though that may be due to the pain killers. She has her feeding tube now so I can support her hydration and nutrition and not worry about her eating. She lay on her side in her favourite position and purred like a train and fell asleep with me stroking her.(still purring) The nurses adore her and she's been demanding fuss. She's also head butted my hand. She's not done any of this for a week. Accidentally damaged her dignity by getting lik e lix on her face. But I put some on her top lip and she licked it off! Hopefully will get some answers. I hope it just turns out to be a severe infection. That she can get over.

Better news then? Smile

Shall you rest some now?

TheLongRider · 21/02/2017 21:43

Another hand/paw hold from across the water. One of my beasts had a similar problem with a large lump under his jaw. He had terribly smelly breath and bad teeth. The was a lump under his jaw that gradually increased in size over a few weeks and he got quite poorly. He's a rescue of unknown origin.

The vet biopsied the lump and it turned out to be a form of granuloma. It sounds similar to your situation in that it also contained thick fluid. She managed to excise the whole lump and he's made a perfect recovery. I know Snorgmaiden has several lumps and you're really worried but I really hope you have a similar outcome to me. Paws crossed that everything will be ok.

cozietoesie · 21/02/2017 21:56

She doesn't look 'depressed' in those pictures, Toddler. More.......comfortably sleepy. Smile

Toddlerteaplease · 21/02/2017 21:57

The lone, yes that does sound similar. Did he have a raised white cell count as well? I think they are thinking that a bug from the lumps has travelled down her gut into her pancreas and caused the pancreatitis.

OP posts:
Toddlerteaplease · 21/02/2017 21:59

No she also looked absolute daggers at me when I left her. I dont think she looked depressed either tonight.

cozietoesie · 21/02/2017 22:06

I'm a great believer in pain relief - if there are no adverse side effects. Pancreatitis in humans can be a real nasty when it comes to pain. If they've put her on pain meds that may help a lot generally.

TheLongRider · 21/02/2017 22:07

Yes, raised white cell count. He didn't have pancreatitis, but he did lose weight. His teeth were in a bad state particularly around his gums with gingivitis. That's all cleared up since he had the operation.

I've checked my records and I can't find exactly what he was diagnosed with, just the fact that he had full bloods and the operation. Being a typical cat he went downhill rapidly with little warning. He's a semi-longhaired, Heinz 57 of a black and white cat and he's my boy!

I hope you have a successful outcome.

Toddlerteaplease · 21/02/2017 22:12

She went down very quickly with minimal symptoms. It was instinct more than anything that made me take her to the emergency vet. I've looked after children with pancreatitis and they are very ill. And in a lot of pain.

The nurses think she smells like donuts! Hmm(she doesn't) and keep coming in to have a peek at her tiny nose. Don't think they've ever seen one so small! Really feel like they really care about her.

Glaring is also a good sign.

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/02/2017 07:29

I think if I was nursing an animal with her history I'd be determined to get her better too.

I can imagine the glare. Our female Persians could give evils. The boy was too laid back to be mardy.
