Snorgmaiden has been admitted to the emergency vets with a high temperature, conjunctivitis, and enlarged stomach and enlarged lymph nodes. Thought something was t right last night but not overly worried. Slightly worried this morning but thought I was being neurotic. Took one look at her when I got home from work and straight to the emergency vets. Hopefully an infection but worst case may be lymphoma. She's having loads of tests Tonight and they will ring me later. Need my hand holding you lovely lot. Sad

I'm hoping I'll be able to get enough fluids into her with a syringe. Pushed a bowl of warm watered down seafood bisque cat soup and some cheap stuff in gravy which she inhaled last time she had it as a treat. I think her mouth must be sore and that's why she's not eating much. She really wanted the dreemies I gave her yesterday but struggled to pick them up.

Are her innards still functioning?

Toddlerteaplease · 20/02/2017 15:38

She's not pooed for a week but has not had a proper meal and only had formula. The vets don't seem to concerned about it. She's not vomiting do she is tolerating so it must be going the right way. Poor thing is so bony now. The picture I posted reminds me of a picture of her looking tiny and vulnerable just after rescue. (She was looking at something in the garden)

She'd be in a worse state without her reserves. Whenever I've been ill it's been hard to eat.

Toddlerteaplease · 20/02/2017 16:03

She has eaten probably just under half of the cheap stuff from Lidl I put out. and just syringed about 20 ml water down her. She was absolutely not coming out from under the sofa bed without a struggle!

I'm sure she is hungry, she guzzles down syringe feeds. Her mouth must be hurting her. Forgot to find out what painkillers she'd had today. 2 huge wees in litter tray. And lovely cuddle in my lap. Even if the worst should happen now, I've had an extra week with her and lots of cuddles that I usually wouldn't get off her.

When Harry had his teeth out he wouldn't eat at the vets they gave him Hills A/D, which is for pets recovering from illness, injury or surgery. I scoffed at the thought of him eating it, but it was practically inhaled! We used it again to get antibiotics down him when he had another dental infection before Christmas. There was no way we could syringe it into his mouth (DH tried, forgot Harry is lacking teeth and squirted it straight out of the gap the other side and all over me!) but he took it like a star in the Hills.

I've been following your thread and sending positive thoughts from Harry and I to you and your girl Flowers

Just a thought - but could it be anything to do with Snorg's recent nose operation? Might be worth enquiring about?

Toddlerteaplease · 20/02/2017 21:32

I doubt it. That was a year ago.

Glad you have got her home for a bit and I hope things go OK tomorrow for her

Weedsnseeds1 · 20/02/2017 22:29

She's eating, that's a good sign. Willing her on.

Toddlerteaplease · 21/02/2017 07:15

Not sure she is eating. Maybe just licking the jelly off. I think she's hungry and thirsty but her mouth hurts. Hopefully today they can sorry it. She's very subdued poor thing.

She's back at the vets hopefully to remove the salivary gland that has caused all the problems. It's got thick white fluid in it but it's not pus. The surgery is complicated "and things can happen". But I'm happy that she is in very good hands and I trust them completely. So paws crossed this does the trick and she starts on the road to recovery.

Weedsnseeds1 · 21/02/2017 08:53

There's still protein in the jelly so it's better than nothing. Maybe her mouth is dry because of the blocked salivary gland, as well as being painful. Hope it goes well today.

cozietoesie · 21/02/2017 09:31

Good luck to her, Toddler.

Toddlerteaplease · 21/02/2017 13:17

She's got lots of lumps in her neck area. They've done a biopsy of them. Still not sure what they are. Surgery to remove them will be very complex and I'm not sure I want her to go through that. Hoping she picks up with regular tube feeds.

The vet said when they know what it is they may be able to treat in medically.

When should they (and then you) know, Toddler?

Toddlerteaplease · 21/02/2017 13:35

Hopefully by the end of the week. Weirdly one of my colleagues had something very similar that started off in her mouth. And she had lumps all over her neck. She was really ill but fine now.

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 21/02/2017 14:25

....but fine now....

RubbishMantra · 21/02/2017 14:36

I hope Snorg's op resolves what's causing her to be unwell.

Toddlerteaplease · 21/02/2017 14:48

I think if she has not worked up drastically by the weekend then I think enough is enough. I don't want her to suffer. She's very hungry and miserable and I can't bare to see her like that. She's got a feeding tube so I can get fluids into her.

*perked up.

I know it is hard but try not to lose heart just yet. I've been through some complex health crises with my cats over the years so I understand.

cozietoesie · 21/02/2017 15:01

See how it goes later in the week? They can turn - if not quite 'on a sixpence', then certainly quickly.
