We live in the countryside and we were walking when we found the tiny one. I took her to the vet straightaway to get her checked. She has nasty diahorea but is quite bright otherwise. They gave me a deworming, a probiotic thingy...I try to give her kitty milk but she is not keen. She drinks water and some specialised food that I bought from the vet. I'm planning on offering food every 3 hours : milk-food-water...she is asleep on heating pad on low. What else can I do !? I'm really worried she is not drinking the milk :(

She's drinking the water, though? Have you stimulated her to poo and pee or is she managing that yet?

user1477462353 · 25/11/2016 22:45

She is pooing very liquidy and she is weeing too.

When we acquired our youngest cat we took her to the vet the next day as she was showing signs of fleas. The vet insisted she was only 4-5 weeks old (not the 8 weeks we had been told). From the start we just gave her wet kitten food and water, the vet didn't suggest milk and we were led to believe that cat/kitten milk was unnecessary. She thrived (although had to take her back a few times over the first few weeks due to tape worm and then round worm and for something stronger for the fleas as the initially she was too small).
As long as she is drinking water and going to the toilet she is prob fine on the food and water, although worth checking with the vet if you are still concerned.
Good luck!

I'm doing a poo sample every day for 3 days then she goes back to the vet.

I'd try to keep her close if you can. Having a big warm thing with a beating heart nearby may make all the difference throughout the night. Poor wee scrap.

Squeeeee

user1477462353 · 25/11/2016 22:53

Cozie - I give her regular skin on skin cuddle but i don't want to sleep with her in case off I squeeze her.

OP maybe try this? I've handreared quite a few rescue babies (from 2/3 weeks old) on this and they've done well on it. Of your kitty is ok at drinking water out of a dish you can just give it to her like that rather than from a bottle. Good luck. You're so good to take the scrap on x

cozietoesie · 25/11/2016 22:56

I don't know - I've never squeezed a kitten yet. (There seems to be some unconscious 'thing' about small cats which your brain is aware of even though you're asleep.) You know yourself best though.

user1477462353 · 25/11/2016 22:58

I'm just so worried, she eats then squirt some poos :(

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 25/11/2016 23:07

She's just had a dewormer and is almost certainly on a very different diet to that which she had. In fact, this may be the first real food she's had for a bit. That can discombobulate little innards temporarily.

Are you taking your samples for the vet?

user1477462353 · 25/11/2016 23:12

Cozie - yep I took the first one today...she had her first dose of de wormer this morning, do you think it's the cause ? Her poos seem to be worst since she came back from the vet.

Oh, she is ADORABLE! Thank God you found her.

Have you seen these

They really helped my puppy settle at night.

I hope her tummy settles very soon.

Estelle, she is sleeping on this one

cozietoesie · 25/11/2016 23:21

Dewormer plus different food might have given her collywobbles in her gut. She's still eating though? I'd wait until tomorrow to see if she has improved any. Is the diarrhoea showing any sign at all of easing up?

user1477462353 · 25/11/2016 23:22

And a teddy, on top of a fleece blanket, a vet blanket on top so it makes a little tent
