Fine yesterday , brought me a shrew first thing but didn't eat his breakfast and hasn't eaten since and can't tempt him with anything.

More worryingly he's been curled up in his basket since lunch time and can barely muster up a purr when I stroke him let alone any opera singingSad

I'm taking him to the vet first thing.

I'm sooo worried about him Sad

Phew, just read your update that he's home. Smile

Maybe keep him indoors for a few days? If he's not himself, and got into a fight with another cat...?

There will be moaning and whinging of course.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/09/2016 17:18

He won't take the Cystaid mixed with anything I've tried cat soup, water, tuna juice , point blank refuses. I'll keep trying though.

I did check with the vet about letting him out, she said only to keep him in Sat and Sunday then after that play it by ear. His normal routine is to be out all morning then back for a big snooze so he's back to that now.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/09/2016 17:20

He's been in for 3.5 days and only went out for a garden sniff yesterday so today was first 'proper' day ( fourth day.)

OP posts:
DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/09/2016 17:21

Can't count- fifth day!

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 27/09/2016 17:21

Fingers crossed that he just had a discombobulation in his innards then.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/09/2016 17:27

Vet said she wasn't concerned about a blockage when I spoke to her yesterday and peeing fine and frequently so responding to the antibiotics they gave him. Just waiting to see if he has crystals in his wee now- my sister is pretty sure he will have (vet nurse/practice manager) so will be interesting to see what they say about diet.

OP posts:
DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/09/2016 17:28

She was saying girlie cats are less prone to UTI's as their 'pipes' are bigger. Poor boys Sad

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 27/09/2016 17:37

Well if he's prone - and such a young cat.......

How is he on wet food?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/09/2016 17:58

He usually has wet food( Sheba and Aldi version) plus raw but since bring poorly hasn't wanted it so I tried the soggy Iams.

OP posts:
DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/09/2016 18:03

He's now flea free, I've combed every inch of his fur- he loves it even more than the grooming brush!

OP posts:
Fluffycloudland77 · 27/09/2016 18:47

Is cystease the same as cystaid?. Ours has cystease mixed in with wet food.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/09/2016 18:52

I don't know if it's the same. Tried mixing it in food, not a chanceHmmGrin

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 27/09/2016 19:02

How much water would he normally take? (If any.)

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/09/2016 19:41

He always has water down in various places but he prefers the bird bath! About every 3 days he'll have a huge drink if he sees one if is drinking water. He'll drink from the sink too when I'm in the shower and he comes to keepe companyGrin

OP posts:
DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/09/2016 19:41

** keep me

RubbishMantra · 27/09/2016 19:43

Your sis is right about boy-cats being more prone to crystals/UTIs. Their pee-pipes (urethras) are longer.

I think I mentioned this in an earlier post, but you must be so overwhelmed and tired, could've easily been missed. Iams is not a good dry food for cats. There are lots around the same price range that are good. Applaws and Orijen.

However, keeping him on a purely wet diet might be best for now.

Healing thoughts, and paw waving from the MCats.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/09/2016 20:16

Rubbish- yes, I know it's not great, Sis and vet said as much but just said soak some for today so he eats. Once the vet results come back ( should be tomorrow) we'll know if the vet says he needs a prescription food , which she mentioned or I'll investigate the other foods, he definitely won't be having Iams long term. I live in the back end of no where so will need to order on line.

Shame my sister lives abroad, time difference etc means we chat at odd times on WhatsApp about medical stuff.

I did see your earlier post, sorry I didn't acknowledge it my eyes are out on stalks I'm so shattered , hopefully I'll get some sleep tonight as he's so much betterSmile

cozietoesie · 27/09/2016 20:23

Online is generally fine so don't worry about that - unless you're the only house on an offshore islet, I suppose. You just need a tiny bit of planning so that they don't run out. Smile

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/09/2016 20:30

Ordering on line is no problem, I can bulk buy so won't starve my boyWink

He's just done another monster wee so everything seems to be working ok.

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 27/09/2016 20:36

The trouble with bulk buying food is that they (almost immediately) decide that said food is deeply poisonous and distasteful. Grin

I'm looking at this?

OP posts:
Madbengalmum · 27/09/2016 20:47

Yes, thats it Dame.
Zooplus or viovet are usually the best prices.
You can buy smaller bags to try on ebay sometimes.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/09/2016 21:04

Oh yes, we've had the ' how dare you feed me this crap' beforeGrin

Sister said wait as vet might say prescription food. I wish the results would hurry up ( impatient!)

OP posts:
DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/09/2016 21:28

Oh ffs, was combing him on my lap and when he got up there were 4 first on the towel that I'd put down- is the fact they'd fallen off good news? Does it mean the Advocate is working?

Yuck yuck yuck!!!
