Fine yesterday , brought me a shrew first thing but didn't eat his breakfast and hasn't eaten since and can't tempt him with anything.

More worryingly he's been curled up in his basket since lunch time and can barely muster up a purr when I stroke him let alone any opera singingSad

I'm taking him to the vet first thing.

I'm sooo worried about him Sad

Nope raw is fine! Cooked bones are a no

cozietoesie · 06/10/2016 12:12

It might take a bit to get them really under control but that spray should really help. And winter's coming as well. Smile (Colder weather.)

Constant vigilance, though.

He looks like a happy cat now. Smile

Thank you Cozie- that's what I needed to hear!

Does it depend where you get your chicken from, I thought 85%of supermarket chooks had campactobyler (sp?)

Sister said something about the spray deforming the new fleas so when they latch on / bite they can't do it properly and die off she might have been talking bollox to calm me down though! Wink

Not at all, it's all fine to eat (think about them catching rabbits/mice/birds)

hollinhurst84 · 06/10/2016 12:39

Mine likes a little raw turkey mince mashed with warm water Hmm

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 06/10/2016 13:59

The reason I questioned it was because a dog I know nearly died from raw chicken having campactobyler and the vet said only give cooked. I just sort of presumed cats were the same but yes thinking about all the nasties they chew on outside probably means they'll be fine ! BlerkGrin

I seem to recall ( happy to be corrected) that the biggest problem with chicken is splintering bones - especially with chickens who have been cage reared and tend to have weak bones.

hollinhurst84 · 06/10/2016 14:08

Yes especially if they accidentally get cooked ones. I tend to feed the odd chicken wing then ox heart (bleugh), turkey and pork mince and bits of beef

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 06/10/2016 14:12

All makes sense, thanksSmile

Ah, that Fellini sounds good. (and I love his films Grin) I've been wanting to introduce raw for a while, and was considering Nature's Menu frozen nuggets, but was a bit Hmm because they look like the boilies I used for bait when I used to go carp fishing.

It's the cooking that makes the bones splinter, but unless I was really clued up, I'd only give necks, even then I'd be worried. I wonder if the chickens arrive at the butchers with necks? And if he'd put them through the mincer?

hollinhurst84 · 06/10/2016 14:25

I was a bit concerned about giving him a raw wing but after he pinned it down and destroyed it (with a bad tooth) I felt a bit easier!
I'm keeping him on high meat pouches for now with the odd taste of raw as he doesn't seem to enjoy it full time
Weirdly stable cat eats whatever she hunts but adores any food she doesn't have to catch Grin so she gets his rejected stuff

RubbishMantra · 06/10/2016 14:27

Actually, I didn't have my glasses on, and there are pictures of berries on the packaging, which look like fishing boilies. I think they come in squares of what looks like actual raw meat.
