Fine yesterday , brought me a shrew first thing but didn't eat his breakfast and hasn't eaten since and can't tempt him with anything.

More worryingly he's been curled up in his basket since lunch time and can barely muster up a purr when I stroke him let alone any opera singingSad

I'm taking him to the vet first thing.

I'm sooo worried about him Sad

Although he's grey his fur next to his body is white, so easy to see. I can only see dirt when I groom him. He's been in and out so much over the summer and he's not a lap cat so cuddles are rare except at night...omg I hope our bed is OK!! I can't believe I've missed it . bad cat slave

It might be fairly recent, so don't beat yourself up. Can you imagine what things might be like if you weren't treating him regularly as well? Smile

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/09/2016 12:23

Oh well, roll on FridayWink

cozietoesie · 26/09/2016 12:28

He may have found/be using an 'infestation source' outside. With the hotter weather of recent months - if you're in the U.K - then he might be given to eg dozing on something which is also being used - at other times of the day, say - by another creature who is riddled with parasites.

By the way - is he wormed regularly?

cozietoesie · 26/09/2016 12:34

PS- I say that because while I'm aware that he gets Advocate, I have a feeling that that doesn't do for tapeworms and if he's exposed to a heavy flea load from somewhere, he might need tapeworm treatment as well. They're quite common, sadly. (I'll stand to be corrected on the Advocate coverage.)

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 26/09/2016 12:52

You're right Cozie, Advocate doesn't protect against tapeworm. Harry has Profender every 3 months for that.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/09/2016 13:00

He has a separate worm treatment.

He's just been sick EVERYWHERE, the poor thing! Probably too much food too soon. Bugger.

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 26/09/2016 13:03

Seniorboy has Profender spot on. (He regards pills as an invention of the devil so anything he has has to be in non-pill form.) Not hugely often because he has very low risk factors but when he's treated for worms, that's what he's given.

cozietoesie · 26/09/2016 13:05

See how he does. I still wouldn't be surprised if he had a blockage of some sort.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/09/2016 13:11

Oh no,really,he's been peeing rivers though?!

The worm treatment is a spot on type thing.

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 26/09/2016 13:14

Spot on worm treatment is fine if it's a decent one and applied correctly.

See how he does, anyway.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 26/09/2016 13:16

Oh bless him, I hope he's on the mend soon.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/09/2016 13:23

I can't remember what we use, it's what the vet gives me every 3 months. I just get one dose at a time and use it then throw the packaging.

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 26/09/2016 13:44

If it's from the vet, it's probably Profender. It should be noted on his vet file in any case so you can always check next time you're in there. Smile

RubbishMantra · 26/09/2016 13:47

Oh you poor loves. He was probably sick as a result of getting his appetite back and eating too much for a shrunken stomach.

Give your vets a call and ask them what they think about him sicking up his food? And like Cozie says, raise worries to them about a blockage in his intestines.

RubbishMantra · 26/09/2016 13:53

*... It would be a good idea to keep him in at night, until you've got to the root of the problem. Don't give into the whinging or sadface, sulking etc., you're his Mum and you're doing it for his own good.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/09/2016 14:10

Oh he's definitely staying in!

OP posts:
DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/09/2016 19:26

Slept all afternoon but in different places so he's stretching. Let me feed him a bit of chicken and now he's asleep again.

I've got Cystaid capsules which i can't get down him, he can just smell it on his food Sad

How's it going Dame? Give that boy an ear tickle from me. My two send prrrrps and headbutts.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/09/2016 10:35

Morning ThreeSmile small daily improvements. Hardly eating anything but energy better so he's obviously taking what he needs. He managed to come up stairs in the middle of the night and get comfy at the end of dh's feet! Ate a tiny breakfast and has been out since- I'm worried but actually this is his normal routine.

Results from vet today so we'll know about diet then if needed.

He sat for an hour and a half on teen ds's lap last night, first time ever, ds was nearly in tears he was so thrilledSmile

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/09/2016 10:36

Oh and I saw him drink of his own accord this morning so that's good!

OP posts:
DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/09/2016 14:13

He's still not back Hmm

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 27/09/2016 14:28

I thought you were keeping him inside for sure?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/09/2016 17:07

No,he's in at night, cat flap well and truly locked!

He's back and ate really well- Iams soaked in water on advice from the vet nurse so that's good as he looks really skinny.

Still waiting for lab results.

New flea comb came,he LOVES being brushed with it, I got four of the little bastards, tiny little things, urghhhhh! Vet said I could do Advocate early,so I did and I'll do the house tomorrow as the Indorex arrived!

OP posts:
RubbishMantra · 27/09/2016 17:08

I did post this morning about trying to orally syringe his Cystaid capsules mixed with water, but it seems to have disappeared.

And as Cozie pointed out, I would keep him in, until he's recovered.

I hope he's come home.
