Fine yesterday , brought me a shrew first thing but didn't eat his breakfast and hasn't eaten since and can't tempt him with anything.

More worryingly he's been curled up in his basket since lunch time and can barely muster up a purr when I stroke him let alone any opera singingSad

I'm taking him to the vet first thing.

I'm sooo worried about him Sad

Three- thank you for thinking of himSmile

Tried again with beef and chicken and doesn't want to know. Gave 4 syringes of watered down cat soup and he stood up and started gipping like he was going to chuck up, but didn't and now he's also again.

If he doesnt eat properly by tomorrow morning taking him to the vet's again as he's starting to feel really boney and he'd lost weight when she weighed him and he has nothing spare as it is.

Dame, sorry to hear about Puccini. Hope he is soon better.
Food wise seriously look at Orijen, it has highest meat/fish content of all. No grain or fillers and a little goes along way. Very high quality. I would ditch the iams pronto. I also mix in chicken breast and fish.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 25/09/2016 17:26

I've ditched it,he won't have it again! Thanks I'll look at Orijen.

Madbengalmum · 25/09/2016 17:59

It is bengal heaven! The three i have all adore it, and they are very picky. Another viable option is Acana which is made by same people as orijen but has a lower meat fish content, but still good quality.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 25/09/2016 18:27

But that's a dry food, right? But wary of any dry food tbh.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 25/09/2016 21:05

Still not eating... sigh Sad managed more syringed water and he got pissed off with meGrin

Good news is that he's peeing loads as I've just cleaned out his litter tray.

Just reading about Metacam - vsn cause loss of appetite and sickness, I'll talk to the vet about stopping it tomorrow and hopefully he'll start eating again.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/09/2016 06:07

I'm up and he's up and perky and purring and he's EATEN!!!! he ate the food I left for him last night and he then had some more. Now he wants to go out and is miaowing like a poor tortured soul HmmGrin

They bounce back quickly. Is the vet seeing him again?.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/09/2016 06:46

He's just done the biggest wee EVER in the corner of my front room - obviously the litter tray wasn't to his likingHmm thank God we've got wooden floors!

If he eats lunch and keeps everything down then he can probably go out later as he's weeing ok and that was what I wanted to monitor - does that sound ok?

OP posts:
DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/09/2016 06:47

Vet isn't seeing him again unless there is a problem but will ring with the results of the wee/ crystal test on Tuesday.

OP posts:
Toddlerteaplease · 26/09/2016 06:56

I think the wee on the floor is a protest at not being let out!Wink

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/09/2016 07:00

Ahhh that makes sense as he had used the tray in the night.

He's gone back to bed now.

Do you think if he eats again he will be ok to go out? I don't want him frantic to go out by this evening then escaping and being out for ages.

OP posts:
Mistoffelees · 26/09/2016 07:27

Ahh brilliant news that he's eaten! I think you're right, keep him in a bit to see if he eats anything then let him out for a bit, going out will probably make him hungry as well.

Threetoedsloth · 26/09/2016 10:33

The river of wee sounds like a bit of a dirty protest to me too. You know your boy, and if you think there's an element of stir craziness creeping in it's probably a good idea for him to have a turn around the garden. I'd be at the door wafting whatever treat beguiles him most, so as to lure him back in reasonably quickly. But then I am an inordinate worry weed.
My first girlcat, a delicious lilac point Siamese, had a nasty UIT when I'd only had her a year. I'd rescued her at the age of 6. She'd been a breeding cat and her bastard breeder was going to have her PTS once she'd outbred her usefulness(still bristling 30 years later) Anyhoo I stayed up all night with her, sleeping on the sofa with the litter tray just a few paces away for her. The vet had said that night would be critical.I was completely overjoyed as I watched that little cat wee in the dawn's early light- and she picked up amazingly quickly thereafter.
I am sure the same is going to apply to your gorgeous boy. So glad there's good news today.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/09/2016 11:06

He had a huge sleep, more food and I let him out and he did another massive wee against out fenceGrin nothing wrong with his water works now!

He then jumped over the fence.... eek!

I've ordered Indorex- PLEASE tell me it works as I've just found a little flea on his bed! He's not due his Advocate until Friday so I've ordered a flea comb and will bomb the house!

OP posts:
DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/09/2016 11:13

Three- awwww that first wee must've been amazing!Smile

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 26/09/2016 11:24

Indorex works just fine. It's the spray of choice in our house. Smile

cozietoesie · 26/09/2016 11:25

PS - can you pop the bedding into the washing machine? (I don't know what kind it is.)

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/09/2016 11:35

Yes, have been washing like a crazed MN washer woman ever since FridayWink fortunately most of the house is wood flooring just a carpet on the stairs and our bedroom.

I'm not 100% sure I saw a flea, but he's covered in flea dirt but no sign of live ones on him.

He doesn't scratch at all so bit confused about it all really plus I use AdvocateConfused

OP posts:
Wolfiefan · 26/09/2016 11:38

Glad to hear he's doing better.

cozietoesie · 26/09/2016 11:42

Maybe they're hatching out but not surviving on him? That treatment needs to be ........not forgotten about come Friday. Wink There might be a lot of wee stranger entities around.

Is the hoover out as well?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/09/2016 11:55

The hoover is definitely on!!!ShockGrin

I have an alarm on my phone to remind me every month plus I get a text from the vet so I'm always bang on with giving it to him.

They must be surviving long enough on him as he has dirt all over him. I did the old damp paper towel thing and it's definitely flea dirt.

He's just had some raw beef then yowled at me until I put more down. Back to normal thenHmm

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 26/09/2016 12:02

If they're dying post haste then that's good though. My own lad is very pale and with fur of one colour - no real bands/striations etc on his main body - so fleas would be easy to see, Thank Goodness.
