Meooooooooow

I know, come and lie down...

Don't be silly, Dame. If it had been room temperature, he'd have refused to eat it on the grounds that it wasn't chilled. Grin

Hopelass · 20/07/2016 17:53

Me too. She's currently being as long as she can everywhere around the house and I have to keep stepping over her. She is not keeping up with her usual catching flies job which is annoying too. Poor puss.
I felt like killing her at 3:30 this morning though when she was trying to fit her considerable self between the slats of the Venetian blinds in the bedroom to get to the open window.

exWifebeginsat40 · 20/07/2016 18:01

older cat is quietly furious at all the hot. kittenish is mostly lying flat on her back, legs akimbo.

she also languishes on the granite worktops. I think she wants me to draw her like one of my French kittens...

RubbishMantra · 20/07/2016 18:04

I have a semi-bald (Devon Rex) who's flopping about all over the place, little pink pig belly on show. I feel sorrier for my mog, who has a VERY floofy belly.

They're very good at finding the breezy spots.

When I get the fan out, little Monsieur (the Devon) sits in front of it, and his huge bat ears flap in the wind.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 20/07/2016 18:09

Of course Cozie Grin

As soon as dh came in from work the cat ran downstairs and told him all about the heat and please make it STOP NOW! It was hilariousGrin

Mine seem to be little affected. Boycat just lies around or hides from me behind the sofa as usual, Girlcat has taken to sleeping on the bathroom floor during the day but still squeezes herself into the larger tree cave in the evenings. The only change I've noticed is slightly more water being drunk, and them not having a mad half hour trying to kill each other just before bed time.

Bog is your Siberian also looking at his massive tufty feet with a 'WTF are these actually for?' expression?

kingJoffrey I'm not sure BogBastard is as deep a thinker as that - very lovely but not overburdened with brains.

Hoping his next winter will be a snowy one though, so that he can finally enjoy the benefits of the giant tufty feet!

kooki14 · 20/07/2016 21:09

My big girl is adamant that this heat is unacceptable and I need to make it stop immediately. She is allowing me to give her hourly rubs with a cold flannel. Well more like demanding to be honest.

The boy is fairly stupid. He was sunbathing earlier and got far too hot. But instead of moving on his own he just yowled until I came and moved him to the tiled kitcen floor.

At least the weather should break tonight. Then I can free myself from the tyranny of the flannel rubs. Grin

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 20/07/2016 21:11

Cat came up while I had a shower and had a little flick round of water then got the hump and stretched out on the landing you have to step over him to get past- just so you know he's still really hot ( even though it's much cooler now!)Hmm

timtam23 · 20/07/2016 22:50

My cat's been stretched out in possibly the hottest room in the house (window broken so we can't open it or get a through draught) then at night he sprawls on the bathroom lino (coolest spot!) He also has a patch of shady AstroTurf under the garden bench which he loves. Lots of objections to cold food as well - I've been covering his wet food and keeping it in the fridge because of heat/flies

Northernlurker · 20/07/2016 23:01

My mia has been very noisy too. She was furious yesterday when in 33 degree heat I put her in the cat carrier and took her to the vets for annual booster. Apparently it was far too hot in the car and how could I do it.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 20/07/2016 23:02

Puccini is stretched out on my bed now in direct with the fanGrin much happier- and quieter!

cozietoesie · 20/07/2016 23:12

I have someone strumpeting about in the garden. I don't think that the noise is anything to do with the temperature though. Wink

hollinhurst84 · 21/07/2016 00:41

Tooooo hot hooman. Make it stop Hmm

OliveOrTwist · 21/07/2016 01:05

You all have sensible cats fanning themselves, mine has decided he is now scared of the fan. He refuses to cross the room if it's on and sits meowing annoyingly loudly until I turn it off, so his lordship may pass. He didn't have this fan phobia for the past 6 summers Hmm

weaselwomble · 21/07/2016 01:16

Weaselkitten has just enjoyed splashing her paws thorough the cold running tap and sticking her head under to see where it's coming from. Don't think she realised she was actually getting wet at first bless her. Hopefully that will cool her down a bit. She's now having lots of fun with a piece of frozen ready cooked chicken. Still whining lots though.

PeaceOfWildThings · 21/07/2016 08:23

I slept out on the sofa in the conservatory with the windows open. It was lovely and cold until WildPeace cat came and curled up on me. Then we both got too hot!

KingJoffreyLikesJaffaCakes · 21/07/2016 08:44

My short-haired cat has been nudging the dish drainer thingy off the steel draining board and lying on that.

Sensible.

Pohara1 · 21/07/2016 11:43

My adult tom has just been lying around the house, adult female has been lying outside under trees. The kitten has been running around the house like Tigger on speed. She's the only one not bothered by the heat.

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/07/2016 19:16

They tolerate ceiling fans over the bed really well.

Ours is allowed upstairs on the bed during the day when it's hot. I leave the fan on for him.

fusspot66 · 21/07/2016 19:17

This cat is not cool

Archfarchnad · 21/07/2016 19:30

Here in Central Europe we get up to at least 35 degrees every year and we're often 30 or above, so ArchCat doesn't know any different. We just put out a few more bowls of water for him and make sure that wet food isn't left out too long (so sometimes we'll give him 4 small portions instead of 2 larger ones). It wouldn't surprise me if Central and Southern European cats shed more fur in spring than British ones because they need less in summer, so your lot might be suffering extra much right now with thicker coats. I certainly don't pander to him with cold flannels and the like, but if he wants to join me by the fan he's welcome.

Archcat's main thing when it gets this hot is snoozing through the day on the trampoline (so there's a cool draught under his belly?) then staying out later than usual in the evening. I normally like him in by dusk, which is 9.45 at this time of year, but he'd be out on the prowl till midnight if he could.

The tough thing for cats (and humans) round here is the extreme difference in temperature between winter and summer - often 35+ in summer and -10 or below in winter. A British cat would find it real hell!

Mincepies76 · 21/07/2016 23:28

Him and his fan!
