Fuck, my cat is gone and it's all my fault

Girlcat escaped from her carrier outside the vets and was over the nearest fence and gone before I could grab her. It was my fault, I didn't clip it up properly. The vets is 7 miles away. We searched for a couple of hours with no luck. I'm doing some posters and leaflets. I just want her home. She's chipped at least so someone might find her and take her to the vets.

Or a home visit. Smile So is the plan to put something smelling of home and her fave food in the trap?

Madratlady · 27/12/2013 14:11

Yeah tuna and I might try to get Boycat to sleep on a towel so it smells of home and her friend.

Boycat needs her back. He's very upset about the baby although I tried to explain that it's just a people kitten. He's not allowed into bed with me any more in case he tries to sleep in the moses basket so he's lonely.

Madrat, you've been very much in my thoughts during this past week. How lovely to hear that you are one step closer to being reunited with your girl.

Sparklingbrook · 27/12/2013 14:13

When my cat went missing they recommended saving the contents of the hoover bag and putting it round the garden to entice her back-smells of home. Smile

ExitPursuedByAChristmasGrinch · 27/12/2013 14:16

Really Sparkling! Did it work?

Sparklingbrook · 27/12/2013 14:17

She had already passed away but I didn't know Exit, but it made sense what with their acute sense of smell.

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 27/12/2013 14:34

I'm glad she's safe and hope she'll be home again very soon.

Sad
boofted · 27/12/2013 15:14

Congratulations on your new baby! I really hope your cat is home soon so you can give her a big cuddle.

Sparklingbrook · 27/12/2013 15:23

Perhaps give boycat a brush, pick the fur out and wrap in the towel?

demolitionduo · 27/12/2013 16:52

Been following this hoping for positive news. Sounds like you aren't too far off being re-united with your fur baby. Here's hoping the trap is successful.

Madratlady · 27/12/2013 17:24

Good idea sparkling he moults everywhere anyway!

Thanks for coming back to update us Madratlady. Many congratulations on the arrival of your baby. You must be so preoccupied with your new little one and it's so good that you're still determined to get Girlcat back. I'm sure that she'll be home with you and her brother very soon now. Fingers crossed.

Madratlady · 27/12/2013 21:32

Boycat is snuggled up on a towel on the sofa so it'll smell like him and home. We have tuna, dh is setting up a trap tomorrow.

Good luck with the trap tomorrow. Hopefully she will be back to see in 2014 with you all.

Rosieliveson · 27/12/2013 21:44

Good luck getting girlcat home and congratulations on the new baby Grin

aristocat · 27/12/2013 21:44

Good luck :)

RandomMess · 27/12/2013 21:47

Hope GirlCat is well and truly trapped tomorrow x

timtam23 · 27/12/2013 21:52

Good luck Madrat, that sounds really promising. And congratulations on the new baby.

lookatmybutt · 27/12/2013 23:58

Congrats on your new addition and I hope things work out with your GirlCat - it sounds promising.

I wouldn't feel too bad about the carrier breaking open - the modern ones seem to be rather crapola. My carrier could barely contain my GargantuMog but it was all I could get at the time. The pegs kept jiggling loose.

One of my old neighbours had a breakout during a routine checkup. Her poor lad was gone for 3 months, but she got him back thankfully.

Follyfoot · 28/12/2013 00:07

Everything crossed that she is caught very soon and back home with you.

Please dont worry if it takes a while to trap her, you might need to be patient. We tried to trap a stray who had a piece of plastic stuck tightly round his neck. It took a while for him to get up the courage to go into the trap but he did eventually go in.

Lots of luck!

QODRestYeMerryGentlemen · 28/12/2013 00:10

Good luck!

MimsyBorogroves · 28/12/2013 00:12

Fingers crossed that she is back where she belongs very soon.

BakerStreetSaxRift · 28/12/2013 11:42

Fingers crossed you find her today. I really hope and think you will.

Congrats on your baby too Thanks

TheBunsOfPanettone · 28/12/2013 12:17

Congratulations on your new baby MadRatLady and I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that Girlcat comes safely home to you!

Lookatmybutt yes, those plastic carriers are rubbish, the pegs and latches get worn out and loose very quickly. I had a terrifying near miss with one of those at a busy bus stop following which I bought a carrier that is really a small metal cage and closes very securely.
