Do you put dog poo bags in your household bin?

with the new food waste bin
i have very little in my land fill bin
however plenty of dog poo bags,
my dog is walked every day but still goes in the garden

yesterday my dh heard a bin man shouting how he didnt sign up for this, seemingly referring to the bags of dog poo in the bin.
i looked on the council website which says double bag it
do you go further?
do you actually take the bags to your local bin?

No it just goes in my outside bin. I don’t double bag either didn’t know that was a thing

What!! Didn’t sign up for this? They don’t even touch the waste these days. Maybe you should ask him what you need to do with it

Ours goes in the non-recyclable rubbish bin. And we don’t double bag it, why would you do that?

people put soiled nappies in bins all the time. Period sanitary products. Etc. bin man is being a bit daft. It’s not a nice job and I respect them for doing it but you’ve done nothing wrong.

I have a bin outside with a liner for dog poo bags then they go in the wheelie bin, never thought not to tbh

When it’s been really hot before I’ve collected them in a separate bag and put them in the nearest public bin.

No - the bin only gets emptied every three weeks and it would stink to high heaven with dog poo bags in it. I leave them by the front door and take them with me on the next dog walk.

I put them in the rubbish bin after I empty my kitchen bin bag so yes double bagged.

Just in the wheelie bin, no,double bagging. The bin man did in fact sign up for it when he applied for the job 🤷‍♀️

When we go round the lawn with the pooper scooper (long handled collection thing) we flush it down the downstairs loo.

I bag mine, then take them to the nearest public dog poo bin when I next walk my dog. I really wouldn't want to put them in any of my bins. Surely, that stinks after two weeks!

We use our food waste bin for dog poo, have for years. Then when it’s rubbish day it gets tipped into the black bin.

Quite frankly, they did sign up to it. Just like how they signed up to collect dirty nappies that some scruffy bastards leave in public bins. It might not be an explicit sign up, but a bin man claiming he didn’t sign up to empty bins containing dog poo (which he’s obviously not touching ffs) is like me saying I didn’t sign up to pick up poo in the first place.

I collect them all in a bucket outside. I then out them in the black wheelie bin on collection day.

Reason being I dont want squashed bags of poo getting stuck to the bottom and sides of black in when i chuck other stuff in. (Ask me how i know)

I live in the coutryside and dont always pass a public bin on the way home.

I bag the poo but that goes into a bin bag. I don't generally put anything in the collectable bin that isn't bagged up. Occasionally, if we are just back from a dog walk, poo bag in hand, I will just chuck it in the bin and not open a larger bag to add it to.

Yes he did. Bin men dont pick out the rubbish individually from our bins with their bare hands do they?

They dont even touch anything inside. The bin gets wheeled to the truck by the handle, and then the truck mechanism picks it up and tips it in. Then it gets wheeled back to outside the house. They dont even have to touch the lid of the bin at all. So yes, he did sign up for it. As PP have said what about soiled nappies and tampons?

We put ours in the dog poo in close to our house. It is emptied every few days.

Our black/landfill waste bin is only emptied every 2 weeks and would smell disgusting if we used that.

We are advised not to do this.
Dog waste can contain parasites that survive water treatment processes.

Please don't.
Dog poo can contain pathogens that are not removed by sewage treatment as well as traces of parasiticides that then end up in rivers impacting wildlife.

I think he was referring to collecting large amounts of dog poo. He didnt sign up for that, he signed up for rubbish not animal poo.

If it's securely double-bagged and disposed of in the general waste bin, then it is rubbish.

Bin men deal with used nappies, sanitary products, incontinence pads, food waste and all sorts of unpleasant household waste every day. I'm not sure where the idea has come from that "rubbish" only means things that are nice to handle
