Do you put dog poo bags in your household bin?

with the new food waste bin
i have very little in my land fill bin
however plenty of dog poo bags,
my dog is walked every day but still goes in the garden

yesterday my dh heard a bin man shouting how he didnt sign up for this, seemingly referring to the bags of dog poo in the bin.
i looked on the council website which says double bag it
do you go further?
do you actually take the bags to your local bin?

No...I hang it in a tree like a normal person!!!

I have just looked on my local council’s website and it says to double bag nappies and dog poo bags. It doesn’t mention tampons etc.

I presume it is because the risk of a shit leakage from a ripped dog poo or nappy bag is great and it is exceptionally unhygienic and risky.

My dad used to do this when they were dog sitting and their bin got a cross on it and wasn't lifted.

All people mentioning not wanting to make plastic waste with bagging. Agree - but why aren't you using biodegradable bags? The advertising states that the bags decompose in landfill from 3 to 6 months. Is this not true?

I just put it in outside bin. Not double bagged. It can get a bit smelly in the heat though!

I’m only half serious of course. I actually agree with the person who said flush it down the toilet.

We only get 3 black bags (70l), once every 3 weeks so we have a special bin we store the dog poo in and then empty that into a black bag and put it out the night before

I guess it is double bagged as it’s in a strong poo bag (we use strong ones after a thin black one emptied its contents down my leg when it split 🤮) then in a black bin bag

our Dumps are only recycling centres - we have nowhere to take domestic waste except put it out in black bags so we can only dispose of dog waste in our bins. If you have a lot of rubbish your only options are a skip or calling a rubbish clearing firm

The dog poo bins on the street are always full to overflowing as people don’t want to keep it for 3 weeks which I understand.

Does nobody's Council have a number or website to report a full dog poo bin? They come and empty full ones here if they are reported.

Our council are useless. Its also not just once, its basically not being emptied regularly enough

We had a nappy system (that wraps nappy’s) by the back door, dog poo bags went in, they get wrapped, so yes double bagged into what effectively looked like link sausages.
scented dog bags, scented nappy wrap, so basically as pleasant as you can realistically make it.

You definitely have a council problem. Ours are emptied every Friday. One or two get full, but it's not too far to find another bin.

The funniest or most disgusting protest, depending on your point of view, was when the council took away the bin by the flats at the bottom end of town. So everyone who lived there just made a poo bag mountain where the bin had been. They all have bins and bin storage areas, nobody wants to put dog poo in their own bins.

Dog poo bags in the food waste bin? That’s utterly disgusting. The bags are made of plastic which doesn’t degrade. You can’t compost dog shit.

Please don't do this. Pet waste can introduce parasites (like Toxocara) that wastewater systems are not designed to treat.

I read somewhere that dog poo is poisonous so even in a biodegradable bag it shouldn’t go in food waste. So “non recyclable waste” is the correct category. We have roadside bins that are collected every day.
If we’re out in town it goes (bagged) into the public or dog specific bin.
If we’re in the country it gets flung into the undergrowth with a tissue.
If I had a garden I’d dig a small deep hole and transfer the poop there, covering it with a sprinkle of soil each time. But I don’t.

I use scented nappy sacks and put the bags in my land fill bin. The bin is collected every three weeks and usually has one kitchen bin bag and at least 21 dog poo bags in it.
I can't say I have ever noticed it smelling of dog poo. My garden bin smells worse from the rotting grass cuttings.

public bins for dog waste is where ours go, they get emptied more regulalrly

We have a little bin in the garden with a liner in it and the poo bags go into that. Then each week the whole liner full goes into the black bin.

Our next door neighbours general waste bin had no lid and they used to put their bagged dog poo in it, it was absolutely stinking in the summer. We used to put ours in the general waste bin too - ours had a lid though.

I have a small, lidded bin in the garden with a bin liner.
I bag and bin the poos in there. When it’s full, I tie the bag up and put it in the black bin the night before collection.
I don’t put single bags of poo in the main bin as the risk of them splitting and then coating the inside of the bin, is high. Particularly if heavier rubbish is tipped on top.

I have a spare lidded bin so I will line that in future as @Theraininspainishere , thanks all

It is to do with parasites that sewage treatment plants don't deal with.

Our lovely neighbour (!) leaves them hanging on a hook nr her side gate next to our garage to take them out with her to a public poo bin we think. We call it ‘the shithook’ 🤮💩
