Do you put dog poo bags in your household bin?

with the new food waste bin
i have very little in my land fill bin
however plenty of dog poo bags,
my dog is walked every day but still goes in the garden

yesterday my dh heard a bin man shouting how he didnt sign up for this, seemingly referring to the bags of dog poo in the bin.
i looked on the council website which says double bag it
do you go further?
do you actually take the bags to your local bin?

Our council ask that we put them into general rubbish, it’s a black wheelie bin for us.

Yes…but it’s collected every other week…and when it’s very hot will double bag. But she rarely poops in the garden.

Goes in our outside bin. I never double bag them. The bin is collected once every two weeks.

Gone in our outside bin for the entire time we’ve had DDog, 13 years. Never considered doing otherwise!

Our bins are collected every 3 weeks. I have cats so a separate bin for cat litter and the dog poo bags go in there.

I don't double bag - too much plastic waste already, and the local dog poo bins are overflowing - piles of bagged poo on the ground next to it as well!

It seems wrong that landfills are full of plastic bags full of dog poo. It’s a pity there isn’t a more sustainable way of it decomposing in nature.

The bin men don't look in our bins, just attach to the truck which empties it.

Like you, we bought a specifically designed ‘dog poo’ bin to go outside. Two. One out front and one in the back garden. Both have a liner. When one is full, it gets taken to the nearest public dog poo bin.

If people are throwing dog poo bags ‘loose’ into their general waste wheelie bins (not double bagged by being inside a household rubbish bag), they could easily split or stick to the sides of the bin or stink to high heaven in this heat.

The men collecting our refuse haven’t signed up that. Surely it’s no different than expecting them not to mind if we threw our feces into a bag and put it in a bin?

The dog poo bin near us is constantly full (we live right near a dog walking route). It isnt emptied enough by the council. It is always overflowing to the point people are putting their bags on the ground underneath it because it's piled up so high. It's honestly revolting and thats not our fault if the council arent emptying it enough.

Our very considerate dog hardly ever does a poo in the garden as he prefers to do his ablutions on his daily walks. However, if there is one we leave the bag by the door and take it to the nearby dog poo bin when we're next going out. Fortunately, the public dog poo bins are emptied regularly around here. I don't like the idea of putting it in with our general waste but I don't know why!

You mustn't do this, it is really bad for our sewage network. I needs to go in the bin

How does your bin man know what’s in the bin? Ours wheel it to the van with the lid down and it empties in the back!

I agree. That should not be done. It affects people’s drinking water.

We have a small bin (with bin-liner) in which bagged dog poo is put day to day. On bin day, the bag is removed, tied securely and put into the main rubbish bin. Practically no smell.

I walked passed a black bin a few days ago mfg i could feel my stomach turning,the smell of dog shit coing from that bin was to much.

Some bins you can smell it you dont need to look.
We had a bin man throw his guts up once over it.

Always went in the bin until we moved somewhere that’s about 50m from a dog waste bin on a footpath, now it goes in there and if the bin man was upset about a normal bin, pity the person who has to empty them

I'd just say you don't know exactly what the bin man was talking about, you assumed it was dog poo but it might not have been.

I put mine in the outside wheelie bin, not double bagged. No bin man has ever protested at all.

I’ll probably double bag it now tbh, I did think of this after one was left in our bin, obviously just got stuck to the bottom after it was emptied.

I used the empty dog or bird food sacks in the glass wheelie bin to store the poo bags in as its never full & it kept the smell In and then transferred the sack to the general waste bin when i put it out for collection.

The nearby councils bins id use when passing on walks but quite often they would be full especially nearing bin day because people would dump their extra rubbish in and around them.

I do think dog poo is the most disgusting poo smell of the lot

I take mine and put them in the dog bin. Only on the morning the bins are to be emptied do I dump them in mine.
