Do you put dog poo bags in your household bin?

with the new food waste bin
i have very little in my land fill bin
however plenty of dog poo bags,
my dog is walked every day but still goes in the garden

yesterday my dh heard a bin man shouting how he didnt sign up for this, seemingly referring to the bags of dog poo in the bin.
i looked on the council website which says double bag it
do you go further?
do you actually take the bags to your local bin?

I try to avoid it, because my household waste bin is collected fortnightly. So I might put a poop the day before collection, but that's all.
I don't mind between October and April, but as soon as it's a bit hot, it stinks and attracts flies, even bagged in a poo bag.
So I leave it in the front of the house to take it to a street bin on the next walk. I have a system to never forget to collect it.

I understand double-bagged as been in into a proper bin bag, rather than loose poo bags in the bin. Honestly I understand the bin man. And yes, it makes a difference when you put a poo bag into a bin bag.

We keep a bin with bin liner away from the house and put poo bags in there. Fortnightly we then put it in normal bin for collection. It works well.

If it’s in a wheelie bin I don’t understand how the refuse collector even knew they were there, unless they go around looking in all the bins.

Most water companies ask people not to flush dog waste down the toilet as it contains something human waste doesn't and the system isn't designed to get rid of it. I think it's called toxocara. Apparently, it can cause lots of problems.

People are saying it smells but I dont know how- we double bag it, then put it in our usual black sacks then in the outside bin. If its knotted shut within 3 bags it really doesnt smell

the point is i only have about one rubbish bag , the rest being poo bags, two weeks worth,
i have rectified it with a bucket and will buy some fragranced bin liners for the bucket

That is so very wrong, you should never flush dog or cat waste.

The “what goes in which bin” section of the council website is sure to specify that dog and cat waste must be bagged and placed in the wheelie bin for general waste (neither recyclable nor compostable waste). Around here the public dog waste bins are slowly reducing in number and advice is to place bagged dog waste in the ordinary rubbish bins if there is no dog-poo bin, or if they’re full.

I tie my dogs’ and cats’ waste from home in the cheaper poo bags, pop the bags in a lidded bucket in the shed, then tie two or three at a time into a thick, strong poo bag to drop into my black wheelie bin. I take the strong ones out on walks away from home as the thin ones do smell more.

I rinse my black bin with a kettle of hot water and a handful of soda crystals each time it’s been emptied, tip out and leave open to dry, and sometimes put a car air freshener in it too.

I also take with me on next walk and put in the dog poo bin, however the morning or night before bin collection I would put in normal bin

I had a small metal bin in my back garden for my dog's poos. When it was full, I would double bag the lot in a scented bag and put it in the rubbish bag from my kitchen bin and put it out in my wheelie bin.
No refuse collector would know it was there.

Not what you’re asking but when the blasted local cats shit in my garden, that gets bagged and put in the black bin

Bin man’s comments are a bit daft as even if people are transferring their dog waste to the public dog waste bins, its still the bin men who are emptying them. Except with the dog waste they are taking the liner out by hand rather than just fixing the wheelie to the back of the lorry.

We have cats and have a little poo bin outside the front door. That then gets emptied into the big wheelie bin.

Is it just a seperate bin or like a nappy bin?

Ours was a bin designed to be a poo bin. Similar to a hygiene bin used in women’s toilets. But for dogs lol.

Obviously if it’s full we’re not just going to leave ours on the ground, but in any event, it’s rarely half full. Gets emptied regularly. No idea what council does with it.

No you do what my neighbours do, collect it an throw on to neighbouring gardens of people you dislike for fun!

Whenever mine pops in the garden we pick it with toilet paper and flush it. They are fairly small though...

Where else would someone put it? And given that condoms/period waste go in bins, and apparently a lot of bins have maggots at the moment due to the weather and the councils no longer collecting weekly, so bins aren't going to be nice!

If you use a wheelie bin liner (a massive black
liner) you’d have a clean bin rather than stuff sticking.

Our dogs are walked every day but for some reason only go at home in their special area of the side garden. I collect it obviously with a poo bag and pop it in a separate container to make sure it doesn’t smell.

Once per 2 weeks on the evening before bin collection, I empty the container into the kitchen waste bin bag as I’m passing to take that out to the main bin. It gets tied up and put in the wheelie bin. I’ve smelt bins that have poo bags thrown in and have sat there for 2 weeks in summer 🤮🤮 I don’t really think about the bin man, just more about the fact my bin would absolutely stink and I couldn’t cope!!
