We’re taking the plunge with our first dog this year. In the research phase and it’s down to either a Cockapoo or Cavapoo. We’re going for male I think. We’re an active family and have one of us working from home. Two kids over age of 10 both sensible. Small ish house and mid size garden. Lots of fields and green space nearby. Want a dog that won’t chew our house to bits and be fairly well behaved! Committed to fully training them obviously as I know that’s an essential factor for behaviour. I adore dogs and walk others’ regularly so I’m really excited we’re taking this first step to get our own but I’m worried about making the wrong choice. Any advice would be hugely appreciated

The BEST choice! Miniature poodles, poodles generally are absolutely wonderful all-rounders. So happy for you and happy for pup.

Brilliant breed choice, just brilliant!

I’m so delighted for you! I have a 10 month old toy poodle and he is the light of my life 😊
He loves all other people and dogs ( I spent a lot of time socialising him and it has totally paid off) and is so clever!
He likes a walk at lunchtime but if the weather is bad he’s quite happy to cuddle on the sofa with a heated blanket 😆
Crate training has worked really well for us and separation anxiety hasn’t been too bad - just lots of baby steps.
Can’t wait to see photos!

That’s a lovely update. So pleased for you. As I said upthread miniature poodles are just fab. I bet you feel like a child waiting for Christmas! I only have one complaint - where’s the photo? We need to see a picture of him!

Miniature poodles are gorgeous and you don’t need to keep them in a poodle cut. They are everything you’ve listed. This is a poodle in the picture

That’s so great - an excellent choice to go with a proper lineage from health tested parents in a good home environment ❤️

Hope you have a ball - it’s such a exciting time when you bring your little pup home
