@SpanielsGalore aww they are so gorgeous!

CoubousAndTourmalet · 10/07/2025 11:55

Oh, how lovely @SpanielsGalore
I'm rather envious of you & Landsharks. I loved being a multi dog household.

(edited because I'd unintentionally used the same wording as YF 😆)

SpanielsGalore · 10/07/2025 12:01

@CoubousAndTourmalet I've always been a multi dog household, but this is the first time they have all got on together.

@CoubousAndTourmalet I've always been a multi dog household, but this is the first time they have all got on together.

We were multi dog for 12 years, then we had our bigger boy, Algy, as an only dog, and we currently just have Brie. R&S were half sisters, chalk and cheese, and would occasionally have a bit of a scrap, but most of the time they got along well.

tizwozliz · 10/07/2025 12:23

Generally ours prefer to cuddle us than each other but they're happy to cuddle up to each other two and it's been like that since day 2.

26 here today and I was working until gone midnight so didn't get out this morning. Just dipping in the stream now

Now I want another one! But I will resist because I don't want to ruin pupsy's life, and, as @SpanielsGalore says, there's no guarantee of snuggling.

I would actually love a second spaniel but it would make a lot of things logistically a lot harder, and more expensive. As my mum often says about her two, it's much easier to foist one dog on a friend for a favour, but much harder with two.

Gorgeous. They look so small even though I know they aren’t 😄

YorkshireFelix · 10/07/2025 12:42

This is such a timely conversation as I was just telling DH about @SpanielsGaloresolution to the rough play was to get another dog, and it’s what he keeps saying too. I could not go through the whole puppy phase again though, I think it would give me a nervous breakdown at this point!

Do you want mine? Free to a good home.

@YorkshireFelix You know he's welcome any time! Pupsy will sort him out.

LandSharksAnonymous · 10/07/2025 13:00

@SpanielsGalore i’m very jealous! I suppose it’s because all my dogs are very human orientated rather than dog orientated? They come to me for comfort as opposed to each other most of the time. But what I wouldn’t give for them to snuggle together

@YorkshireFelix It is a chonky cat - it’s bigger than a Goldie is at 8/10 weeks - so maybe it has no fear and knows that even if it’s caught nothing will happen? Or it’s just pegged my lot for a bunch of losers (which they are) and is asserting its cat dominance?

There is something lovely about having multiple dogs. But then you could end up with two twatdogs…tbh even thinking of that makes me want to cry a bit.

Sylvie was pretty small for a PMD and I think she & Rose were both young on this photo. Merlin was a decent size, at 31" shoulder height, but I do know what you mean, they are deceptive. Darker dogs always look much bigger even when they're not.

CoubousAndTourmalet · 10/07/2025 14:51

New photo of the beast. Butter wouldn't melt...then two seconds later, she launched herself at me and sent me flying 😆

So jealous of people who live by the sea right now. 30 degrees outside, dogs are playing bitey face on the sofa.

Where abouts are you geographically? It is 22 here now so not horrendous thankfully! But we are West Yorkshire. Not sure how those down south cope!!

CoubousAndTourmalet · 10/07/2025 19:38

Only 21 here currently so we're doing okay. Nowhere near the coast though.

tizwozliz · 10/07/2025 20:05

We're Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire border. About as far from the coast as you can get. Forecast is cooler overnight than the last period of hot weather so hopefully it'll be cool in the morning.

Bupster · 10/07/2025 21:01

Oh @CoubousAndTourmalet , I remember how hard this was last time, it must be exhausting. I'm so sorry.

@SpanielsGalore Your guys are absolutely gorgeous. Bill is like K - I have the loveliest photos from his daycare of him sleeping basically on top of the satellite carer's lovely older girl. I'm never quite convinced she's as comfortable as he clearly is. At night he quite often rolls onto his back, in the traditional bollocks akimbo pose, with one front paw hooked around my arm as I'm reading in bed. He fell asleep tonight on the floor with one front paw resting on my foot.

Got a message from daycare HQ today asking if I could pick him up early as he hated another dog there. I quite often pick him up a bit early as my work is pretty flexible, and my daycare is pretty wonderful. I was a bit mortified though, thinking God, what a horror he must have been, he's been sent home early from school. Actually when I got there it turned out he'd had a lovely time all afternoon in the office and playing in the garden, and they said that nemesis dog (who is a known gangster, but is now apparently afraid of Bill, the hooligan) has always been a nob to Bill and so it's not Bill's fault at all. Told you they were lovely. So I brought him home early and as you can see he helped me unpack the shopping, and I got absolutely nothing done.

Took him out in his cooling coat at about half six - it was 26° but he can cope with that fine as long as we're mooching in the shade rather than bounding around for hours. Bit worried about how hot the pavements are going to get this weekend though, and whether I can get him out in the evening at all.

Gorgeous photo @Bupster
Bill has the most expressive face of any dog I've ever come across. He's such a character ❤

CoubousAndTourmalet · 11/07/2025 09:31

Good Morning
21 degrees here already, at 9am. We were up before 7 but it already felt too warm for a proper walk...
I hope everyone is doing okay and all pups are good.

Brie has just been helping me to peg out the washing, which is always fun 😬 We got off to a great start when she jumped up my back, then landed with one paw on the edge of the laundry basket, which flipped, catapulting my clean knickers across the lawn 😆
She then went to the bottom of the garden, looking at me so I stuck my tongue out, cue Brie running full pelt up the garden to shoulder slam me.
She is the funniest dog but also my biggest challenge.

She definitely now understands the difference between laughing and crying, so after months of me thinking she would never be my 'emotional support dog' in the way that Algy was, I think we are actually getting there.

I hope everyone has a good day and manages to keep cool x

tizwozliz · 11/07/2025 09:50

16 degrees when we left for our walk, 22 when we got back about 45 mins later. 25 by 9am!

Dogs are now torn between being with me versus being downstairs where it's cooler.

I've got them some beef ribs to keep them occupied a bit later.

I left just after dd went to school at 8.50 but by the time we got down to the woods it was so hot. I’m technically not meant to walk him in the woods yet because of his leg but I decided it was the better option rather than going down the canal as there’s not much shade. He bombed about like a maniac BUT he did two very excellent whistle recalls from far away! I got DH to come and collect us in the car, so I think tomorrow I’ll just drive down early instead.

We’ve got a hosepipe ban here as of today because it’s been so dry, so no paddling pool for dd. We’re going to go out and stock up on ice lollies after school.

Hope you’re all keeping cool!

Nella68 · 11/07/2025 09:59

25 degrees here and climbing!

We moved M’s cage into the coolest room last night. I would love to get rid of it but when we have tried him out of it/ leaving the door open, he is really unsettled and barks at all the wildlife, cats etc. He seems to feel the need to be on guard when he’s loose. The noises are the exactly the same but no reaction when he’s crated.

@CoubousAndTourmalet M tries to steal socks and pegs. I have to ignore him until he gets bored of them as he just wants to be chased.

I saw a lady with a PMD in the park the other day. I didn’t get close enough to speak to her, but it made me think of you and Brie as she was tiny compared to her dog!
