Lads it's finally happened
Yesterday, we went to the dog show.
Up until now, we've always sat away from everyone else in a little booth thing at the side, to protect other dogs from being randomly screamed at but this time I was feeling reckless brave and packed up Pod, DF, snacks and some camping chairs into the Shitbucket and off we went.
Honestly, honestly, honestly... He ASTONISHED me. Like we were feet away from other dogs the whole time, huge groups of dogs constantly walking to and from the ring... And he was SO GOOD. And in the very first category, he won Best Male Crossbreed, which meant he was automatically entered for the best in show classes which were right at the end of the day. After six hours he'd really had enough so by the time we got into the ring for the best in show prizes, he became 2024 Pod and launched a vicious shark attack on both my sleeves. It was really embarrassing, he was a vertical humping/biting/shrieking tornado. Judge tries to examine him - Pod responds with interpretive violence. All the while I tried to tinkly laugh though the really quite considerable pain of him getting my arm with his jaws and go "Ooooh he's just very tired hahahaha".
Anyway, they obviously saw how good he'd been all day because he bloody WON! Best Rescue in Show. I wanted to cry, partly from joy and a bit from mortification as we had to have a winners photo and the other dogs were sitting calmly and Pod was up on his hind legs with one of my torn up gloves in his mouth, which unwillingly given as a sacrifice.
Whatever, we'll take it. Will post the winners photo on his gram when I get it as I think it'll be quite funny.
Here is Pod the Sod sleeping off his excitement.
