All aboard Podsquad, it's Pod thread number 4.

In case you were wondering:

  • What is this (surprisingly) long-running thread about? A unique lunatic rescue Podenco, known as Pod. Featuring his pals, Stanley, GentleHowl, BabyPod, GentleBounce, Fastest and Princess and many more.
  • What makes you so special that you get your own thread? See above

Seriously, if anyone is considering getting a teenage/rescued/sight-hound/Podenco/all of the above and has NO idea what they're doing, please enjoy the previous instalments from the day we brought him home, to now, six months later. Posts will oscillate wildly from euphoric to mental breakdown and back again.

Here is thread No. 3 https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/thedoghouse/5248472-they-love-a-bit-of-him-podlife?page=1

Here is thread No. 2 https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/thedoghouse/5197068-the-pod-cast?page=39&reply=141216881

And thread No. 1 https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/thedoghouse/5177112-oh-my-giddy-god?page=1

Pic of the handsome prick in question.

Oh goodness, what a shock, but his vets sound fab, so he's in good hands Flowers

LadyGrillingSole · 15/10/2025 18:02

Your Podsquad are sending healing vibes and love to you and your precious boy, Hanging. 🙏

HangingOver · 15/10/2025 18:06

Also I very nearly made a show of myself on the drive home as the man in the van behind me had completely taken leave of his senses and was tailgating, hooting and driving over pavements. I was so close to getting out and giving him what for. I took the high rode and reported him to his employer, and shouted cunt loudly unfortunately outside a primary school

Sending lots of positive thoughts your way. You poor things. Sounds like he's getting great care.

Pashazade · 15/10/2025 18:43

Oh Hanging, keeping everything crossed for you and Pod. Hugs

Ellmau · 15/10/2025 20:00

Sending so much love to your beautiful boy ❤️🐾

FeralWoman · 16/10/2025 01:15

I hope that Pod is okay and that the vet can easily remove any blockage.

FeralWoman · 16/10/2025 10:15

Just checking in for an update on Pod. I hope you’re okay @HangingOver.

WiddlinDiddlin · 16/10/2025 11:17

Everything crossed for the bat-eared fool here!

NotISaidTheCat · 16/10/2025 11:47

Everything tightly crossed. (And I'm sorry for my last post, which seems really tone deaf now.)

Sending all the love and healing x

eggandonion · 16/10/2025 12:31

Hello hello hello!

So they finally rang last night at 9pm and said he'd had his CT and they couldn't see anything requiring surgery but they're sending it off to be analysed anyway. Best thing was they said no news medically for him to stay in and we went over and got him so he didn't even need to stay over. He's eaten and FINALLY done a solidish poop today. He's also in manical high spirits as he finally succeeded in catching a magpie in the garden.

Please can I get off this rollercoaster now?? I'm exhausted!!

Also, did you know magpies are cannibals? Boak!

So glad he's home, Hanging 😀

Pod's tummy must be feeling better if he's up to catching corvids, they're a smart bird ( and he should watch his back now, they hold a grudge if they see anyone hurt one of their own 😬).

Had no idea they were cannibals, though! Weirdos 😵

RumNotRun · 16/10/2025 13:32

I'm glad he's back and feeling better, but I really like magpies 🙁

Scampuss · 16/10/2025 13:32

So pleased he's home, and hope he stays out of trouble!

I used to until I saw four of them pecking an injured one to death last year, now I think they're scary!

Magpies are very handsome but very bold birds.
My vet once had to operate on a dog belonging to an elderly lady who had eaten some fancy lace knickers. His owner had no idea where he had found them. Dogs are a bit silly!

WiddlinDiddlin · 16/10/2025 15:24

One of mine crapped out a dishcloth - one of the knitted, hefty white and red types... I spoke to the vet but said I'd got pretty much the whole thing, he said 'well... dog will be well cleaned out'.

Funnily enough, similar comment when I had to phone Abbey Saddlery to ask if the contents of their leather balm would harm the internals of a small lurcher. 'No, might be a bit squitty but should be VERY supple inside afterwards'. Their warehouse collie had also eaten a whole tub once...

Pft. Dogs!

"…an elderly lady who had eaten some fancy lace knickers" was how I first read it!

eggandonion · 16/10/2025 16:42

😵 I had sedation earlier...I m not allowed to sign legal documents for 24 hours. This might explain why!

FeralWoman · 16/10/2025 16:52

I’m glad that Pod is okay. Hopefully he stays well.

Ellmau · 16/10/2025 18:50

Oh Pod.

I hope at least he didn't manage to eat any of the magpie.

Pashazade · 16/10/2025 19:59

Glad to hear Pod is ok. What a nightmare. Fingers crossed for a drama free weekend!

HangingOver · 16/10/2025 20:43
