Could I name my puppy Simon?

We're getting a lab puppy in June and my 3yo DD is adamant that he's going to be called Simon.

After discounting it for being ridiculous it's starting to grow on us...

We love human names for pets but is Simon a step too far?!

All my pets have had human names - I’ve had Suki, Emma, Jessica, Lily, Michael, Joe, Danny and Linda.

Until there is a photo I couldn't possibly comment.

My brother is Simon. He's lovely and he'd be thrilled by this. It's gorgeous!

We have a cat called Gary 🤷‍♀️🙈😂

I used to know a lovely cat called Simon.

And bizarrely, I was just reading an old news report from the 1980s, and the witness referred to their dog, Simon.

Well, I have a Norman. DH idea (because I wouldn't let him name the last one Ron).
It was his turn this time. Now I can't imagine anything else.

I know someone whose German Shepherd is called Kevin.

I'm a bit worried that it's too much of a joke name. Names like Colin and Nigel are a bit more adorable and ironic, but Simon is such a 'normal' name...

Other names in the running are Bruno, Dennis and Kenneth/Kenny, but our 3yo is already referring to it as Simon 😆

When I was a child, the neighbours had a dog called Simon. He suited his name and was my favourite.
