Could I name my puppy Simon?

We're getting a lab puppy in June and my 3yo DD is adamant that he's going to be called Simon.

After discounting it for being ridiculous it's starting to grow on us...

We love human names for pets but is Simon a step too far?!

I had 2 Goldfish called George and Michael (Wham fan)

I think Simon as a name is probably a bit 1980's so i think it's good for a dog now.

As my current cats are called Karl, Lenny, Basil and Sybil, it won't surprise you to know that I approve wholeheartedly of Simon as a name for your puppy. It's an excellent choice, I predict your 3yo DD will go far 😁.

When we were waiting to pick up our lovely dog we jokingly referred to him as Steve. When he arrived we went with a more doggy name, but I still wish we had called him that, I love it! (14 year old not-Steve currently snoozing on the sofa).

We have in our local park spaniels (different families) called Fluffy and Lobster, because 6 year olds were given the responsibility for naming them. And a Cockerpoo called Peanut for a similar reason.

Simon is quite mainstream.

How do you shorten 'lobster' when you're calling them????
