Could I name my puppy Simon?

We're getting a lab puppy in June and my 3yo DD is adamant that he's going to be called Simon.

After discounting it for being ridiculous it's starting to grow on us...

We love human names for pets but is Simon a step too far?!

I named my first Siamese cat Simon. It’s a nice name.

It's great. I wanted to call my dog Janet. But my boss is Janet and she said it was weird.

Although the last 3 year old I heard naming a guinea pig, named him Carrot head! 😂

FWIW, guide dogs very carefully name their dogs, to take into consideration how an owner might feel using it in different scenarios etc.

It’s a great name! I’ve met several labs called Simon and quite a few cat Simons in the States. It seems very popular here to give pets human names. I know a golden retriever called Andrew, cats called Morgan and Carmen, a horse called Tony… all sorts!

Though I do have a coworker with a cat named Pancake. Giving cats silly names also seems quite popular.

I love non-cutesy people names for pets.

I am planing on calling my next car Nigel.

Simon is an excellent name for a lab.

Just be careful on walks when calling him as you might get quite a few middle age and older blokes running to you excitedly 🙂

I love human names for dogs . My dad has had a number of dogs over the years , all with human names . .Bess, Jemma, Megan , Sky, Ellie , Florence and Annie .

Our neighbours dog is Betty.

We adopted a Daniel. At the time my sister was dating a Daniel

My mum's words when we got the dog home were "I am not shouting that [ name] down the park!"

Go for it, Simon is a great name for a dog 😂

I'm loving the love for Simon and all the other names. I think Andrew has to be my favourite 😆

My only reservation is that my older DD (9) doesn't like the name Simon as she doesn't want our dog to have a joke name as he'll be a member of the family. I do get her point.

At this point it's either going to be Simon or Rupert (middle name Simon 😂).

a friend has a cat called Simon. I think it’s a good name.

I know a Martin cockapoo and think that's cute.
