What's the worst thing your dog has ever eaten?

SquirrelDog has only eaten things like discarded paper or packaging when out and about as a pup but now is A Very Good Girl <holds breath and crosses fingers>
But my friends tell me tales (tails?!) of their precious pups eating the family roast dinner off the kitchen side or half of the living room wall plaster 😂

Share your stories please!

One of those massive yellow painting sponges. Then he threw it up and tried to eat the vomit 😂

StressyMcStressFace · 11/12/2024 16:29

A tampon.
Used.

HangingOver · 11/12/2024 16:29

Pod was nose down in a pile of horse manure this afternoon, the minger

BlackJacktheDog · 11/12/2024 16:33

Glass.

As a puppy a glass ornament dropped onto the floor and broke near him. The very first thing I did was stick him straight in anearby crate to stop him eating it.

I found almost all the bits but there was an chunk missing. I looked up in time to see the crated puppy crunch down on it and a few shards drop out of his mouth.

A nervous 24 hours, some ranitidine and plenty of bread later and all was well.

SoftandQuiet · 11/12/2024 16:35

Half a Christmas cake, tub of Vaseline (the poo was waterproof coated!) and one of those elastic net things that go round a joint of beef (had to help that one come out the other end 🤦‍♀️).

Weyohweyoh · 11/12/2024 16:37

All the chocolate decorations off the Xmas tree. That was an expensive trip to the vets. They had to make both dogs puke as we weren’t sure which one was the culprit 🤦‍♀️ I really hadn’t thought that one through 😳

Littlemiracles232504 · 11/12/2024 16:39

A chocolate birthday cake (the full thing)

A bag of carrots including the bag, my mattress, he ate a snail once and that was horrid, I was in & out the vets like no tomorrow
My grandad used to have a staffy that would eat bricks, like chew slabs of brick like they were soft toys 🫣

First springer:
Part of a drowned sheep
Part of a dead seal
A whole drowned rabbit (its stomach popped as he bit into it and the smell was from hell)

Middle springer (who learned to open cupboards):
Entire roast leg of lamb (while it was resting)
A bag of flour
2 walnut loaves (at the same time)
1kg pasta
1kg raisins (that cost about £300 in Vet fees)
A stone (that cost about £2500 to remove)

Current springer:
Half a toad (I thought it was a bundle of grass until I grabbed it to remove from his mouth) 🤮
A daffodil bulb (£300 treatment)
500g Hotel Chocolat chocolate which was on a shelf 5ft from the ground! (£500 treatment)
A wheel of Stilton (complete with wrapper)

afaloren · 11/12/2024 16:46

A lightbulb. We were advised to give bread so of course he had lots of cheese sandwiches 🙄

VesperLind · 11/12/2024 16:50

Looked after friend’s Border Collie for a dew days. She rubbed head in and ate the brain out of a sheep carcass we came across on the moor 🤮. I had to put her in the car to get home. I thought I would have to set fire to the car to get rid of the smell 🥴.

Scutterbug · 11/12/2024 16:51

Part of a chocolate cake (family sized) and an Ugg boot (expensive!)

My childhood dog ate a box of 60 teabags!

WetBandits · 11/12/2024 16:51

Cat shit, hot and fresh straight from the cat 🤢

You've got to love a springer!! Mine ate my then toddler daughter's poo off the carpet whilst I was going to fetch cleaning things😂

PragmaticIsh · 11/12/2024 16:52

Breeze block. That was a very expensive operation to have her intestines cleared out.

WetBandits · 11/12/2024 16:53

Also this has come up in Active so I’m sure some sanctimonious twat will be along shortly to tell us how disgusting we all are for having dogs 🙂

InformerYaNoSayDaddyMeSnowMeIGoBlameALickyBoom · 11/12/2024 16:53

My St Bernard ate a 2kg tub of butter, not so bad until she started throwing it up and shitting it out 🤢 it wasn't pleasant.

Nap1983 · 11/12/2024 16:55

A live pigeon.. DD turned veggie for about a week 😂
A tampon and applicator, vet job
A sea urchin, he cried whilst shitting
Multiple lucky food finds, his fave being a full steak bake.
Labrador incase in doubt

Lovelysummerdays · 11/12/2024 16:56

When she was a puppy she used to eat weird stuff a lot. She once ate a rabbits intestine it’d been ripped open and good stuff eaten so must of thought she’d finish it off. Vomited it back up on the carpet.

muddyford · 11/12/2024 16:57

White plasticine which DH washing for physio. Crapped white emulsion up a neighbour's fence...

Human faeces, which also upset his stomach and the result smelt absolutely vile.

MamaWeasel · 11/12/2024 16:57

Donkey poo, fresh, at the seaside. We had to travel over 2 hours home with her stinking. None of us were impressed while ddog was delighted with herself.

Childhood ddog ate a full tub of Nivea facecream!

muddyford · 11/12/2024 16:58

...was using...

FloofPaws · 11/12/2024 16:58

Samoyed - I bought hair bands on a cardboard strip ... it went missing ... yep, she started pooping bands 😵‍💫 vomited up a few up too ... she also started pooping orange rubbery bits ... she'd chewed her licky mat ... she's eaten cat litter covered cat poo too 🤢

Chroomy · 11/12/2024 16:58

A litter of kittens 😐

SirChenjins · 11/12/2024 16:59

A tampon - he was very lucky it came out as it could have caused a complete block.

muddyford · 11/12/2024 16:59

Mine's a Lab too.
