What's the worst thing your dog has ever eaten?

SquirrelDog has only eaten things like discarded paper or packaging when out and about as a pup but now is A Very Good Girl <holds breath and crosses fingers>
But my friends tell me tales (tails?!) of their precious pups eating the family roast dinner off the kitchen side or half of the living room wall plaster 😂

Dog is a VERY picky eater. Won’t eat chicken some days and only likes one type of dog treat. But he has a very unusual obsession with strepsils. Can’t get enough of them. We can’t have the tablets in the house now, spray all the way.

He once got into some (before true obsession revealed itself). I quickly googled if they contained xylitol (I had only recently learned that it was extremely toxic to dogs). Google showed that they did contain contain some. I just started sobbing and weeping. Thought my dog was about to drop dead.

Thank god the flavour we had was xylitol free. God lesson to learn.

What HASNT she eaten? Worst was an entire Christmas cake. Thank God it wasn't boozy but that was an expensive vet trip.

More gum than me.

Halloween candy when she got into dds Halloween stash. But she politely vomited up.all the packaging (outside) then ws.totally fine.

Worst was the time we missed her walk then went out for the evening. Obviously totally our fault - she was bored. Must have spent the entire evening working on first breaking into the storage cupboard, then getting through the plastic of the two large chocolate bunnies purchased for dc easter!!! Vet didnt think she was going to make it that time. I am not sure who was more surprised the next morning when he rang to tell me she was fine!!! 🤣🤣🤣

She'd banned from my sisters hour after knocking over a plate of Yorkshire puddings(and devouring half before we got.to her) then getting into kids advnt calendars.

She's a nightmare. We have learnt how to be obsessive with her but still.sometimes get caught by visitors who assure us they have no food in their bags... forgetting that quarter biscuit or single piece of chocolate they have forgotten about. Guests are slightly surprised when they turn around to discover me or.dh has moved their bag to some very high, out of the way spot!

Health wise, nothing. He's very good at not eating anything dangerous.
He once stole a pain au chocolat from my bag, he ate everyhing BUT the chocolate bar in the middle.
Recently he got into my bag and found some Sudafed, but he just chewed on the blisters, the pills weren't touched.

HOWEVER, he has chewed on a number of headphone, fountain pens, with black ink, on the light cream carpet, lipsticks etc...

One of my cockerpoos:
A huge human turd… My seven-year-old daughter decided to take a dump in the garden for some reason! The smell smells unbearable!

The other cockerpoo:
The entire contents of a quality including the wrappers… His poo was psychedelic!

Fox shit every morning, terrier rat dog with stinky breath!

piscofrisco · 22/08/2025 04:56

A living Frog.

Fox poo. Very dead badger. (Different dogs)

mrsjoyfulprizeforraffiawork · 22/08/2025 07:51

Oh yes, as earlier person, human poo -during covid when many weird people, who usually never spend time in nature, came out with their picnics for the day (when you were allowed to walk outdoors again) and used our lovely edge of London forest as a loo. Luckily they all seem to have gone back to their previous pursuits now and it has stopped.

A brand new pack of butter. Still wrapped in foil. Fortunately it all passed in a couple of days.

A bar of DM’s dark chocolate which necessitated a trip to the vet and costly treatment to make him vomit. Lovely.

bugalugs45 · 22/08/2025 08:21

My first dog ate a sanitary towel out of the bathroom bin , I rang the vet in a panic & he actually laughed and said it was quite common , likewise with nappies 🤢

bugalugs45 · 22/08/2025 08:23

My friends male staffie ate a packet of contraceptive pills , the whole pack & spat out some of the foil, vet said human hormones wouldn’t hurt him but to watch him in case he grew boobs 🤣

Mine's a Sprocker. He's not too bad, but he has had his moments- Christmas cake and homemade Easter eggs spring to mind.
He once caught a pigeon in the air and ate it which was impressive, but messy.
He's 13 and slowing down a little, but I think his best was last month when my husband fell down the stairs. There we were with the ambulance crew and I heard an odd noise- he was lapping up the pool of blood from the floor. He will definitely eat us if we die unexpectedly.
On the other hand, there was no trace of a stain on the parquet.

Put his head under a goat while it wee’d and drank it 😂

My lovely Lab swallowed a pork joint.
Ran around with a rotten dogfish but got wrestled to the ground and had it removed, apparently poisonous to dogs. He stank.
He was also partial to shit. Any kind of shit.

@Chroomy your dog ate all the kittens? 😢

Yes ours sadly is partial to poo. I despair I really do you'd think we never fed her 😬.
Yet strangely when she needs medication she turns her nose up at it, what is that all about.

When we first had our lab as a puppy he wouldn’t eat the food he’d been weaned on (we were advised to stick with it at first) and I took him to the vet. He wouldn’t eat a treat from her and she said, ‘Are you sure he’s a Labrador?’

Now he eats anything he can get his chops round including aforementioned (fairy) lightbulb!
