Hello PodSquad,

Thank you for being on this crazy ride with us.

Here's the OG thread if anyone wants to go back and laugh at how staggeringly naive I was adopting my first rescue pup: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/the_doghouse/5177112-oh-my-giddy-god?page=1

Could someone please explain who this dog is in my house and what they've done with Pod? Because he's been absolutely angelic today. Truly a wonderful, wonderful dog and even coped with my DF and DPs pal coming over for Sunday dinner and sitting up getting merry on red wine.

Or perhaps the collective will on MN have given me a SERIOUSLY needed good day. What a star. 🥹

Oh my giddy god...... | Mumsnet

I can't actually believe I'm finally typing this... I think I'm getting a dog! I've wanted one of my own my entire life. I had one growing up and l...

I’ve been following this thread from the beginning, and I can’t hold out any longer. Please let me know your IG name so I can enjoy Pod’s adventures. I lost my own dog in August, and I could use a doggie fix.

I'd love to see the videos but I can never make Instagram work for me.

Loving the zoomies - he must have had so much fun 💕

KnottyKnitting · 05/01/2025 17:43

So lovely to see him tearing about. You have done so well with him. Such a lucky boy to have found you!

sydsmum · 05/01/2025 17:49

Please, please and I beg you, please post the odd pic on mumsnet. I know most of your posts are on IG, but I am a bit useless x

Newuser75 · 05/01/2025 17:58

@HangingOver I'd love to see pod on insta too!

BirdOnTheBeach · 05/01/2025 18:05

I'd love your IG too if that's ok, been lurking on this thread since the start and after a few years without my hairy hound I'm starting to ponder if it's the right time to look for a rescue ....

Costacoffeeplease · 05/01/2025 18:14

I said to his mum it's like looking and Pod in a slightly different outfit 😁

I have read many times that sight hounds recognise and seek out other sight hounds. My Lurchers love other similar looking pooches.. It's endearing to watch them as other ddogs hold no interest for them. At all.

HangingOver · 05/01/2025 18:45

I forgot to add Pod got mounted multiple times by a very humpy English Bulldog/Pod X and everyone had a good laugh at how delighted he looked about it. Just stood there politely.

My silly visitor dog likes other poodle crosses like himself. But wouldn't like special cuddles!

Ellmau · 05/01/2025 19:11

Ah, I love Pod and his New Best Friend.

Did he try to get in the pond?

HangingOver · 05/01/2025 19:51

He went in up to his little armpits.

I have an idea about this though because I think he's going to be a rare swimming Pod! His buddy who is a GSD adores swimming and he watches her with squeaky longing when she jumps in after her toy so I reckon when it's summertime Pod will be in there with her 😁

Thank you for the photos (don't have IG yet)

DP and me are both back to work today, working from home. Pod is LIVID that he's not the centre of undivided attention all day and is playing up very loudly.

We also had a jump-up-and-bite attack today for the first time in weeks, so he means business.

LardoBurrows · 06/01/2025 14:16

Oh dear, naughty pod 👿 .

Don't bite the hand/arm that feeds, walks, strokes you.
Time out on the naughty step for you Pod.

Hopefully he will adjust back to your normal routine in a few weeks days. He has obviously loved all the attention, presents, fun and games , can't blame him really, if I was him I would have loved it too. 😀

HangingOver · 06/01/2025 15:39

He was a total knob on his walk today. Lunging at everything, towards the end he was so vocal about his desire to go and greet another dog (who was no where near him) I saw the owner come and guard the little dog in fear. Knob knob knob. Big hairy teenage grump. And now I am also grumpy. Humph.

It’s the reaction to having had a lovely time just finished,

WiddlinDiddlin · 06/01/2025 16:51

Oh Pod, lifes hard as a teenager with no resilience to frustration or stress or change or or or... anything.

It is particularly fun when your stick dog is making banshee noises such that everyone in a five mile radius suspects they are some sort of rabid monster, worse if they come and LOOK.

I had several neighbours come out of their houses to see who was murdering a dog... Previous Lurcher did this once, whilst Not Coping in our car outside our house, I was in the passenger seat, as we waited for my DP to fetch my wheelchair round from the back of the house.

He hated the car and he hated waiting, so he was obviously screaming his absolute tits off. No one was touching him, he was sat by himself on the drivers seat not say, caged in some sort of Iron Maiden or being strangled or beaten... but a neighbour did have to come and tell me to 'stop doing that to that dog'... and then stopped herself as it was clear I was not doing anything to that dog at all!

The second he hopped out of the car, silence. Happy dog. However by that point most of the town had heard his brutal murder, people posted about it on a local group!!
That is when I stopped using a magnetic sign on the car advertising my dog training biz!!
