Hello PodSquad,

Thank you for being on this crazy ride with us.

Here's the OG thread if anyone wants to go back and laugh at how staggeringly naive I was adopting my first rescue pup: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/the_doghouse/5177112-oh-my-giddy-god?page=1

Could someone please explain who this dog is in my house and what they've done with Pod? Because he's been absolutely angelic today. Truly a wonderful, wonderful dog and even coped with my DF and DPs pal coming over for Sunday dinner and sitting up getting merry on red wine.

Or perhaps the collective will on MN have given me a SERIOUSLY needed good day. What a star. 🥹

Oh my giddy god...... | Mumsnet

I can't actually believe I'm finally typing this... I think I'm getting a dog! I've wanted one of my own my entire life. I had one growing up and l...

PodPlacemark! Is his name actually Pod?

WiddlinDiddlin · 27/10/2024 21:06

Hurrah, the ongoing Journals of Pod!

With everything x'd, you should find you get more and more of these moments, and then the time between horrible bits gets longer and longer... until one day gets all misty eyed and soft focus alllll this will be a distant memory.

hereismydog · 27/10/2024 21:06

Yay, good boy Pod! Dogs are very good at sensing when we are sad ❤️‍🩹

I didn’t get a chance to comment on the previous thread after your update. I’m so very sorry for the loss of your Nana. Flowers

eggandonion · 27/10/2024 21:07

Isn't he a great lad altogether.

redtrain123 · 27/10/2024 21:11

We need (ie demand) a new picture for the new thread!

OldSpeclkledHen · 27/10/2024 21:21

Huzzah 🥳 glad today has been a good day x
(And Thanks for the new thread - hang in there, you're doing great 👍)

Awww!

Pixiedust1234 · 27/10/2024 22:07

No wonder you took him on, that photo is heartbreaking 😦

I read your other thread and I think you (and he) are doing amazingly well.

raspberryripplecheesecake · 27/10/2024 22:11

I think you're both doing amazingly well too. Such a lucky boy when you and your DP opened your home and hearts to him, providing so much love, patience and attention. xxx

montelbano · 27/10/2024 22:25

Oh, he looks so sad. He just wants someone to love and care for him.

WomenInConstruction · 27/10/2024 22:26

He landed on his paws finding someone with such a willingness to understand and find a way through.
I hope he becomes the companion you deserve, and it sounds like today was a ray of hope for that.
Well done to all in Pod Towers, keep up the good work everyone (those with 2 legs and 4)

doodleygirl · 27/10/2024 22:49

He looks like a very sad POD, so lucky you’ve found him

WillowTit · 28/10/2024 06:18

thank you for the new thread.
i didnt realise he came from spain.
do you speak spanish to him?

MaxandMoritz · 28/10/2024 08:25

Thanks for the new thread.

He's shown you a glimpse of what he will be. How encouraging.

No, sadly not.

If he'd been a Greek or French boy that would have been a different story but my Spanish is non-existent.

He actually came with a different name as well but since he hadn't had it that long we've decided as so as he got in our house it was new name, new commands and we stuck to them ever since. He's definitely getting it now that it has been a few weeks.

Cute Pod trait identified this morning. It's peeing down outside and I opened the door and reached for my coat for his morning walk and he ran back into his crate and laid down.

I must get him a raincoat. It'll be like trying to wrestle an octopus into a babygro.

So glad you've had a better day with him. Look at his face in the shelter though. What a difference you've made already.

Bupster · 28/10/2024 09:00

Dogs can be weird about rain! Mine sadly adores long walks in absolute downpours, so I’ve no excuse not to take him, but I have to hold a golf umbrella outside the back door to get him out for a late night pee in the drizzle 🙄. Good luck with the raincoat. Here’s Bill in his drying coat plotting to murder me in my sleep.

MaxandMoritz · 28/10/2024 09:12

My lurcher hates the rain. It's amazing how long she can last before dashing out in the rain for a pee.

She doesn't need a coat outside no matter how cold as long as it's dry (and I'm in a cold part of the country). However she loves her fleece coat on in the centrally heated house all day🙄 though it was originally just for night-time. I don't get pyjama types with legs though!

Hounds are terrible softies.

Got to see a photo of the octopus in the babygro when/if you manage it 😂

eggandonion · 28/10/2024 13:37

Is he slim enough for greyhound outfits and collars?

TheSilkWorm · 28/10/2024 13:39

My pod hates the rain. He doesn't like getting his feet wet. They are such princesses in bad weather! He has a coat but if I make him wear it he stops every few steps to try to shake it off.
