Neighbour HATES my dog!

1000 replies

Canecorsomummy · 08/08/2024 19:20

Hi everyone!

I’ve lived in my house for over 9 years now, have owned a poodle cross for 8 of those years. April last year I got a Cane Corso puppy, spoke to this certain neighbour informing her, gave her my number and told her if there was any problems with barking etc, especially if I’m not home, then go please let me know so I can resolve it but she has done nothing but cause me problems ever since.

Last year I was taking rubbish to the bins and the CC followed me out and was being fussed over by my neighbour on the other side of my house. 24 hours later the other neighbour put a computer typed letter through my letterbox stating the car park is not a place to walk a dog, it is illegal for her not to be on a lead and if she sees it happening again she is going to report me for having a out of control dog and her being a dangerous breed!! I sent her a text message explaining the law very basically for her and explaining under no circumstances will she be putting notes through my letterbox over something which could be dealt with by an adult conversation.

Well, since April this year she has made numerous reports to RSPCA claiming I’m neglecting her, abusing her and now a report to Social Services claiming I’m not only neglecting my CC, but she is a dangerous breed and I have a young child in my home!

I have absolutely had enough now!! My back door is normally open 24 hours as I have an enclosed garden but I’m petrified to allow the dog to be able to go in and out at her free will because of this neighbour, petrified I’m going to be approached by rspca/police when I’m out walking her ….

I just don’t know what to do now.

Respect you more than @sunglassesonthetable and their passive aggressive shots.

I need to take lessons from you tbh. This thread is a literal guide book.

@IpsyUpsyDaisyDoos

Land Rover/Range Rover 😂😂😂

You'd be lucky to learn life lessons from me.

I wouldn't give you the time of day to do so though. You've been as rude and aggressive to people as the OP. Which started from page one.

You're hoist by your own petard @IpsyUpsyDaisyDoos .

Afternoon, all - could you knock the personal jibes on the head so we can keep the thread on track, please? Thank you.

MoreCardassianThanKardashian · 10/08/2024 16:05

Discovery's are Land Rovers not Range Rovers. Same parent company (species), different brand (dog), different model (breed).

If you're going to tell people details matter and then use cars as an analogy for dogs, get the details right.

@IpsyUpsyDaisyDoos but you know this is wrong, right? The parent company (species) is jaguar Land Rover but probably TATA if you're that specific. The brand is Land Rover and the model is disco. But a Range Rover is a Land Rover Range Rover. So they are the same brand which is Land Rover. You're welcome. 😇

sunglassesonthetable · 10/08/2024 16:05

sure 👍🏻

Wow I’m shocked by all the uniformed views on here that a corso is a banned breed, please get your facts straight before spouting such drivel. A corso is NOT an XL Bully, they share some of the measurements of an XL but no authority anywhere would lump them in together. This dog does not need to be legally muzzled any more than a poodle, clearly the neighbour is as biased as most of you and is judging the dog on nothing more than its looks. Had the OP been talking about a cockerpoo no doubt you would all think the neighbour was in the wrong and a dog hater but as it’s a corso then their behaviour is ok? Unbelievable…

ilovegranny · 10/08/2024 18:29

I’d be scared too, and report you every single day until I could move house. Irresponsible and selfish.

NewGreenDuck · 10/08/2024 18:41

Sorry but I would not want to live next door to you. I love dogs but the cane corso has just about the most powerful bite of any dog. Any dog is liable to bite, but a bite from one of those can kill instantly. I would not go near it, and I would have to keep the cat in too. I can't understand why anyone would want one.

Have cockerpoos been implicated in many fatal attacks?

After you'd done RSPCA, Police and Social Services who else would you be reporting to?

Toohot2trot · 10/08/2024 18:52

Justcallmebebes · 08/08/2024 19:50

I just googled as not sure what they look like and it says they were banned in 2023 under the dangerous dogs act. Is that right?

No that is not right. Cane corsos are not a banned breed in the U.K.
OP carry on with your life, have fun with your family dog and take absolutely no notice what so ever of your neighbour or people on this thread who have obviously never owned a Cane Corso.

LilBowWow · 10/08/2024 19:15

No one’s asking anyone to go near the dog. Stay away and yeah do keep your cat in if it’s going in other people’s gardens.

You’d also be a bit daft ringing up daily (who?) to report that a dog is doing absolutely nothing out of the ordinary.

Judgedontbudge · 10/08/2024 19:25

I feel for you. You are getting biased negative replies on this post from people who are prejudiced against any type of breed that even remotely borders on “edgy”, if it isn’t a golden retriever or Labrador. I feel for you and most peoples opinions are based on the dogs looks ( I personally love bully breed types- American bulldogs, staffies etc). The point of your post is about your neighbours attitude and NOT your choice of dog nor your care over your choice of dog and how you manage your family, which people should respect. Your neighbour is biased. Would they have said the same if your cockerpoo was off lead while you were taking the bins out? No. But a cockerpoo can bite and have behavioural issues given number of bad backyard breeders and dogs of this cross breed with health and behaviour problems ( not that I’m saying yours has , but many do). It’s your neighbours attitude and behaviour which the post is about and I can see that. Unfortunately though, I don’t know what advice to give you. Would your neighbour be willing to meet your CC a few times to understand it’s nature a bit more, or is it past that?

That would maliciousness then and you’d be rightly given a warning by police and if you didn’t stop you’d be going to court to be either fined or jailed

So Monday to Friday you would phone a local authority and report that your neighbor has a large dog? And you'd do that every week until you moved house?

Sounds reasonable doesn’t it?

Nextdoor55 · 10/08/2024 19:39

So much judgement on this thread. From what I've read OP trains dogs & understands them, op says this isn't a banned breed.

Apparently she grew up with someone who trains dogs, her parent perhaps?

She uses a halti, so can't be particularly good at training if the only way she can stop her dogs pulling is to use those. That's just lazy. The dog won't pull as it's uncomfortable to do so. She has constantly berated me for the fact I mentioned my puppy pulls at the lead if trying to chase my children, yet I'm training her properly, without making her uncomfortable.

LilBowWow · 10/08/2024 19:59

Done any loose lead training today@CellophaneFlower ?
