Neighbour HATES my dog!

1000 replies

Canecorsomummy · 08/08/2024 19:20

Hi everyone!

I’ve lived in my house for over 9 years now, have owned a poodle cross for 8 of those years. April last year I got a Cane Corso puppy, spoke to this certain neighbour informing her, gave her my number and told her if there was any problems with barking etc, especially if I’m not home, then go please let me know so I can resolve it but she has done nothing but cause me problems ever since.

Last year I was taking rubbish to the bins and the CC followed me out and was being fussed over by my neighbour on the other side of my house. 24 hours later the other neighbour put a computer typed letter through my letterbox stating the car park is not a place to walk a dog, it is illegal for her not to be on a lead and if she sees it happening again she is going to report me for having a out of control dog and her being a dangerous breed!! I sent her a text message explaining the law very basically for her and explaining under no circumstances will she be putting notes through my letterbox over something which could be dealt with by an adult conversation.

Well, since April this year she has made numerous reports to RSPCA claiming I’m neglecting her, abusing her and now a report to Social Services claiming I’m not only neglecting my CC, but she is a dangerous breed and I have a young child in my home!

I have absolutely had enough now!! My back door is normally open 24 hours as I have an enclosed garden but I’m petrified to allow the dog to be able to go in and out at her free will because of this neighbour, petrified I’m going to be approached by rspca/police when I’m out walking her ….

I just don’t know what to do now.

Of course it is relevant. The neighbour was not reporting the poodle. She is reporting the CC because it is indeed a high risk breed, and she is right to be afraid. I would be, and I'd not let my children out of my sight, even in our back garden, in case it came crashing through or jumping over. The breed absolutely matters.

Of course breed matters - anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves.

If breed doesn't matter, why don't we use chihuahuas to herd sheep? Why aren't there any cocker spaniels working as guide dogs? Why don't we use Frenchies as search and rescue dogs?

Like it or not, this is not a dog that is under full control. I can only imagine the posts if you saw a dog that you don’t find cute pulling its struggling owner to get to some kids that were running ahead.

I said it's a struggle to hold her back ie it takes a lot of my strength. I've never said she's almost pulled me over or anything else you've said on this thread. But she's a PUPPY. All puppies pull whilst they're learning. OP says she uses haltis on her adult dogs, therefore they must pull, else she wouldn't have resorted to them. Yet you keep painting me as the one with the uncontrollable dog and talking about OPs well behaved dogs that you've never even met 😂

You are very over invested in standing up for a stranger who's no longer part of the thread. The cynic in me wonders if you're actually the OP

sunglassesonthetable · 11/08/2024 14:58

She's been given advice, I can't possibly see what she was expecting from the thread bar a bit of CC bashing. Speak to the neighbour/ignore the neighbour/report the neighbour/move/get rid of the dog. They are her options.

Once again. Massive presumption. People often get personal experience from others on MN. 🙄

Good one. Almost as good as your “user name suits you” jibe.

Keep practicing the loose lead stuff, for all our sakes.

Don't need to practice. She walks fine, without her skull needing to be squashed to remind her to 👍

By that logic you're the neighbour making presumptions and fine about harassing OP.

And you are very over invested in pulling someone down because you don’t agree with someone owning the breed. I popped back on here to see how the thread was going, the fact you are still here 2 days later is ridiculous! 🤣🤣 boring hell, have you nothing else to do?

sunglassesonthetable · 11/08/2024 15:05

Are posters fine about people harassing others who make different legal choices then?

Bear in mind the RSpCA and Police are OK with this perfectly legal situation.

@CellophaneFlower

Yes that's right. Obviously I don't even have a big puppy that has tried to chase my kids then either (the neighbour has neither) so you can stop telling me I have the worst behaved puppy in history 😃

Have never said that. 🤷‍♀️

I'll take you word for it that you say your puppy is learning well.

Unlike all your massive " obviously" and "clearly it's " about the OP.

You are assumption central.

Your post doesn't just apply to me then, as I'm still answering the same old posters. I refused to respond to the OP anymore, so thankfully she got bored and left. Clearly wasn't bothered about advice, just enjoyed arguing with me.

Well, I can only speak for myself, but I haven't condoned the neighbours' behaviour nor do I think it's acceptable.

But I do think it's understandable to be frightened of a breed like this and to question the owners' judgement in terms of keeping children safe.

Yes maybe but you are by far the most irritating.

Same. The neighbour doesn't have a leg to stand on... but I can understand why she's upset.

Do I think she's right to harass OP? No I don't if OP is being completely truthful in what she's posted.

You're so boring. You have nothing to add so that's the best you can offer, because you're incapable of saying nothing at all.

I don't think it's okay to harass anyone.

But I also don't think that something being legal means it's safe or a good idea.

Exactly. OP was very vocal... then disappeared, just like her username will. Proves my point.

I’m still here cupcake!! I’ve been busy having an actual life! Enjoy the nice weather, spending time with my son, my dogs, enjoying my garden …. I’m not going anywhere!!
