Fucking XL fucking bullies

My lovely older cat was sitting in the front garden in the sun. Dog comes charging around the corner, was on her instantly and had her pinned down. Apparently they have workmen in and they left the gate open. She is at the vet, her back legs are not working properly and I am waiting to hear the outcome. I shouted, hit it with the lead, kicked it and my neighbour hit it with a broom. Eventually I had to grab the collar and drag it off, knowing it might bite me. All the people who think they are lovely dogs can fuck right off.

Your poor cat!!! 😥 Fingers crossed for a full recovery

AstonUniversityScrapedMyCorpus · 09/05/2024 14:44

oh no! I’m so sorry. Your poor kitty.

I’ve completely rearranged my schedule in order to avoid the neighbourhood American Bullies. My two dogs (sighthounds) are too delicate to survive an altercation with a fighting breed or derivative type.

I cannot wait for the fashion for such big and muscular dogs to end.

MrsTerryPratchett · 09/05/2024 14:46

I'm so sorry.

It's not 'lovely' dog versus bad dog. It's stupid, ugly, awful people who want a scary, dangerous status symbol they can't control.

I hope your cat feels better soon. Flowers

mrsrobin · 09/05/2024 14:47

Oh no your poor cat, how horrific. I really hope she is okay. I must admit, I would probably do as you Aston - I also have a sighthound and agree with your worry.

BoudiccaOfSuburbia · 09/05/2024 14:49

Fingers crossed for your poor cat.

Have you told the police?

spiderlight · 09/05/2024 14:49

Oh, your poor cat! I hope she recovers. That must have been so traumatic for you as well.

Atethehalloweenchocs · 09/05/2024 14:49

Thank you all - it was awful watching her trying to run away when I pulled the dog off her and her back legs not working properly. Apparently they are an older couple, so not status dog types, but I have to say he was not particularly apologetic when I contacted him after I had been to the vet. Still have not heard from the vet, going to go out soon and see if I can see what is going on. Probably wont post again for a while, or until tomorrow. Thnks for the good wishes.

God OP how dreadful. I would contact the police in your shoes, the dog is dangerously out of control.

Sunnydaysaregone · 09/05/2024 15:03

Oh no, your poor cat. I hope it recovers ok. You must be feeling so upset after witnessing it. I hope your vet contacts you soon with positive news.

chippylips · 09/05/2024 15:04

This is a crime since the new legislation came into place. You need to contact cops - will it be do one else's cat? Or even a child next?

ACynicalDad · 09/05/2024 15:04

Please report to the police. Vital this shows up in the statistics.

itsgoingtobeabumpyride · 09/05/2024 15:07

I'm so sorry to hear this, I'm horrified.
I'm a cat lover and now have dm's small dog as dm passed away.
There's an XL bully on my estate that keeps escaping, I've bought pepper spray in case I run into it (police can arrest me if they want but I'll be protecting ddog).
Definitely ring the police.
Hope your dcat is ok, update us when you know, I'm thinking about you 💔

MonsteraMama · 09/05/2024 15:08

Oh I'm so sorry, poor kitty. Horribly brutish creatures, I absolutely loathe them. I can't understand why anyone would want one.

Hoping your poor cat makes a full recovery and the beast that did it gets put down.

AstonUniversityScrapedMyCorpus · 09/05/2024 15:11

I agree re: making a report (although round here I’d report to the dog warden rather than the police, unless it was an attack in progress) even the workmen thing is no excuse, if you know you have tradies a responsible dog owner secures their dogs in a bedroom or arranges for them to go somewhere else for the day (eg a family member).
You don’t leave a dog (any dog) loose with strangers coming and going back and forth from a van all day (especially not a dog that by law needs to be muzzled for public protection!)

Anyone who owns a breed restricted under the DDA owes it to their pet to not put the dog into situations that risk the dog being seized. I dislike bullies* intensely and don’t think anyone should have one as a pet but as the law permits it for now, then the owners are obligated to adequately supervise their chosen pet at all times.
These owners failed in that obligation.

*I don’t mind a little Staffordshire Bull Terrier of breed standard size (under 18kg) but anything bigger is too risky for other pets and vulnerable humans.

Lululime2024 · 09/05/2024 15:11

They are awful dogs, my neighbour has one and a few months ago they took a parcel for me, I went to collect and the bloody thing was up at the window barking and growling at me and I was bloody terrified I just went home, to hell with the parcel I'd rather keep my face. Awful awful awful!

Candleabra · 09/05/2024 15:12

Dangerous dog. Report to police. Particularly as owners were not sympathetic (or responsible it appears). Your poor cat.

Lindy2 · 09/05/2024 15:12

Keeping everything crossed for your poor cat. I really hope they make a full recovery.

Report the owners to the Police. They have been in charge of an out of control dangerous dog. If they aren't even particularly apologetic then they don't even comprehend how dangerous their dog is.

Hope your cat recovers. I am furious on your behalf. Half wits to let this dog loose.

DaisyChain505 · 09/05/2024 15:37

I’m so sorry for this awful situation. I would 100% be calling the police and reporting them.

oOiluvfriendsOo · 09/05/2024 15:44

A guy passed my house the other day with one.. next I see a lady in the middle of the road passing with her small dog. The XL Bully at this point has it's lead wrapped around my neighbours fence by the owner and is straining to get to the other dog.
That was a grown man and if has to tie his dog to a fence because he can't control it what chance do you have.

oOiluvfriendsOo · 09/05/2024 15:45

Hope your poor cat makes a full recovery xx

This is the problem isn't it in my opinion. These dogs are too large and powerful to keep.

vidflex · 09/05/2024 15:52

Hope your cat is ok op x

Cosmosforbreakfast · 09/05/2024 15:52

I hope you're poor cat will be ok. I'm sick of these dangerous killer beasts and their scumbag owners. I'm in Scotland and the amount of them here is ridiculous, I've only seen 2 muzzled. Reporting them is getting nowhere.
