DD bought a puppy home

DD is nearly 20 and came home with a puppy this evening. We already have a 3yr old that we have had since a puppy. Our DDog is very laid back and accepted the 5mnth old puppy for now.

I’ve questioned DD around why someone has just given her an expensive puppy for free, she has said she was concerned they weren’t treating it well and persuaded them to let her take it as it was living outside.

I’ve asked about vets and papers and what food it’s eating. She bought in a bag of working adult kibble and a few tins of 1-7yrs working dog wet food?

I’ve googled the vets she mentioned and I now know they are attached to a big puppy farm and they are someone I would avoid at all cost.

so what do I do now? Give the puppy back to people who clearly don’t want him because he doesn’t meet their level for someone to pay £5k for him? Offer him to rescue at the risk they find out and demand money from me/DD as it is their property/chipped to them?

I honestly don’t know what to do in the pups best interest but also protecting us?

i don’t want a puppy in the house as I work from home in a high demanding role and our DDog is happy at home with me. I honestly don’t want to go back to the puppy days as although he is cute, he isn’t house trained and I’ll be back to work on the 2nd working in an upstairs office with the need of no distractions. I do want to do the best by him though, he is only a puppy and deserves a chance.

I thought I’d add a,pupdate as I was scrolling through MN tonight with nothing else to do and re read my thread.
Roman is now 14 months old and a regular visitor to our house when DD wants to go out for the evening or a day of shopping.
I am officially a granpup as DD took Roman with her when she moved in with a friend to be closer to her work.
Roman is the office boss and spends the rest of his days sunbathing and being a cutie.
no health issues, and a genuinely lovely dog. He loves visiting and rolling about with my DDog so it all worked out well in the end!

Vet has said a French bulldog and the insurance accepted it although we haven’t had to use the insurance for him at all.

Oh what a lovely update, well done on you and your DD!

Thanks for the update - I’m so pleased to hear things worked out.

I was thinking your daughter shouldn’t have done that until I saw your photo of the 2 pups together. Who could resist rescuing that poor puppy from his shit start in life? Not you or your daughter or your dog apparently!

This is such a nice update- thanks for coming back to the thread. So glad he stayed with you all and is so loved, and healthy.
