awww @tizwoliz I feel sorry for Ada. My dog would be her friend if we met her, I'm sure :) I think it's hard to consistently meet the same dogs when out walking unless you're very routine-bound!

cheeseisthebest · 28/10/2021 13:05

My pups friend has a poorly eye so he hasn't seen him for ages as they do a lot of physical play.
So he slept in our bedroom on the floor. Not a peep out of him. Best 2 nights sleep I've had for months!

tizwozliz · 28/10/2021 13:15

We do meet dogs but not ones who are interested in playing. The thing is it's always a toss up between going somewhere where we might meet other dogs, but if they're not interested in playing it then means keeping her on lead or going somewhere isolated for off lead adventures.

When we were in Devon we met young labs every day, haven't met a single one here.

567and · 28/10/2021 13:51

Lovely pics of the new pups! I’ve not caught up for a while, been catching up after half term last week.
I’ve not started puppy classes yet as I couldn’t get on the local one, and I’m signed up on the waiting list for on in December. Not sure how useful it will be but it will be nice for him to see other pups and something to focus on. We pay a membership fee and then just pay weekly, so if it’s rubbish I’ll just stop going.

Just given pp a tripe stick and he now stinks! I bought some pigs ears as our dobbies was out of rabbits ears (which he loved - no fur though! 😂) but they also smell really strong, quite fishy in a strange way, so will be back on the hunt for something else for him to chew on.

I think he’s lost a couple of teeth, there’s been some blood on his yak chew, but he’s constantly got something in his mouth so I haven’t been able to check properly. He’s 18 weeks tomorrow, so is that about the right age to be losing them?

GuyFawkesDay · 28/10/2021 13:57

Absolutely the right age. Every time I look in FawkesPup's mouth there's either a new tooth or one that's very wobbly. They fall out really fast if he's anything to go by. We've got about 10/12 out and replaced in about 2/3 weeks

GumsAndTeeth · 28/10/2021 14:24

Such beautiful pups on here!

Blue is at her first training class tonight, wish me luck. I know 100% she is just going to want to play with the other dogs and not listen lol!

Yet to really hit the teething stage but I’m dreading it, I remember how much a nightmare it was with my last two, although it never lasted too long, a few weeks of ‘what will it be today?’ - not my favourite game!

LadyCatStark · 28/10/2021 14:45

For those that remember my DH woes, something very strange is happening this week and DH and Billy appear to have bonded and now DH loves him to pieces 🤷‍♀️. Billy is all for it and I am now largely forgotten, despite doing absolutely everything for him for the last 5 months!

567and · 28/10/2021 14:58

@GuyFawkesDay I really hope it’s that quick for us!

Aria20 · 28/10/2021 15:09

@LadyCatStark how did Billy manage to win him over?? No such luck here unfortunately!
We had a nice first trip to the beach today though followed by a bath when we get home so least pup is fresh now!

GuyFawkesDay · 28/10/2021 15:37

@567and still very much an ongoing process and will be for a while I think. There was a wobbly bottom one there yesterday which has gone. It's constant but I haven't found any yet

Goawayangryman · 28/10/2021 16:54

They really do fall out fast. We've had two in the last day... and the biting and chewing on me is abating a bit. We can now actually sit down and cuddle a bit. It's great.

Regarding sleep, I say, go with whatever works. Everyone needs sleep. Everything is easier with more sleep. I think it's entirely chance whether you get one that will sleep alone, or not. There's things you can do to encourage sleeping alone, but they don't always work. In my very limited experience. I did very little to encourage mine to sleep alone at night. We had maybe 3 nights of whining. That was it.
And it's also swings and roundabouts. She is a total bugger for the daytimes, and follows me around relentlessly.

LadyCatStark · 28/10/2021 17:04

@Aria20 I think mostly with his impressive jumping! Or as DS would say his mad skillz. DH has bothered to come on more walks with us and is really enjoying it. Plus it gives him chance to strut around in his new Barbour wax jacket 😂. Billy’s personality is coming through now he’s not just an annoying, bitey puppy and he’s exactly what DH wanted in a dog. Plus he has his winter coat and you just can’t resist rubbing your hands and face all over it 😂.

bargelights · 28/10/2021 17:11

We haven't made any puppy friends yet either. Sad We introduced our boy to a friend's puppy, but ours is older and much bigger. He was eager to play and not rough at all but our friend's pup was scared of him. Hopefully they will become friends when the little one gets a bit bigger and more confident.

A neighbour down the road also has a puppy a couple of months older than ours. I'd love for them to play together but we don't really know the neighbour beyond nodding hello. I feel a bit shy about approaching her and asking if she'd like to bring her pup over for a playdate!

LadyCatStark · 28/10/2021 17:33

@bargelights our friends’ puppy was (understandably) terrified of Billy at first but now they love each other and his friend gives as good as he gets (actually probably more 😂). I was worried that they’d never be able to play together due to the size difference but Billy has learned to be more careful around him.

Aria20 · 28/10/2021 18:07

@LadyCatStark my DH wanted the token dog to go with the 4x4, hunters wellies and wax Barbour jackets for family country walks but doesn't want the day to day reality!!! He doesn't put any effort in though besides occasionally throwing toys around oh and he did teach her to catch the other day but he doesn't get involved in normal training, daily walking, feeding or general care stuff.

He seems to mostly find her a nuisance as it means we have to accommodate her and consider her when making plans etc and I also think he's a bit jealous of my bond with pup and the fuss I give her/time and money I spend on her!

Apart from a bit of attention seeking barking in the evening and the jumping on the sofa to look out of the window she's a really lovely pup, if he wasn't so uptight he'd see that....

bargelights · 28/10/2021 19:00

@LadyCatStark, Billy and your friend's puppy look adorable together! It's encouraging that they are happy to play together despite the difference in size. Our pup is big for his age and will get bigger, while our friend's Scottie will stay relatively small. I would love for them to play together.

GuyFawkesDay · 28/10/2021 19:06

FawkesPup has a bestie. Lucky for us his mum is one of my besties too, they got their pup a couple of months before we did. They totally love each other.

Puppy classes start Monday. That'll be fun
FawkesPup can do all the tricks, just not with any distractions around so he's gonna be insane and make me look like the world's worst owner 🤣🤣🤣

My DH also getting keener on pup. Bought him a jumper today!
He has been a pain in the evenings again though. Might be cos its half term and he's forgotten how to entertain himself!
Also follows me everywhere!!

GuyFawkesDay · 28/10/2021 19:51

FawkesPup has just had zoomies in the dark in the garden and run/jumped round barking at me 🙈

I swear he's crackers. Fast asleep now!!

sandwiches77 · 28/10/2021 20:19

Lit the log burner tonight and sandwichpup was barking at it then zoomies!!

I was feeling a proud parent earlier as sandwichpup was walking really well on his lead Grin

Haha @Aria20 we must have the same husband 😂

LadyCatStark · 28/10/2021 22:39

@bargelights it did take a while for Billy to figure out how to play with friends’ pup. I don’t think he was sure what he was at first 😂.

MapleWillowTrees · 28/10/2021 23:43

Hi please may I join. First time puppy owner, been home for a week. Sleep not too bad, biting lots, but she’s a clever girl and is learning really quickly! I just feel overwhelmed at times, hope this is normal!

We've been trying to get AwesomePup ready for the clocks going back by getting up a bit later each morning. Today we seem to have passed his current limit, as I came down at 6:45 to a huge pile of poo on the carpet. Stupid thing is, it wasn't even fresh poo, so I have a feeling my nocturnal DD has been downstairs in the night and confused him about what time it is.

MsAwesomeDragon · 29/10/2021 07:54

@MapleWillowTrees your pup is gorgeous. Welcome to the group.
