@Aria20 it’s XL, 19cm apparently. It’s almost the size of a football!

@bargelights I actually lied inadvertently, the best thing ever is actually a skiing glove that DS has grown out of and Billy found in the garage yesterday. He’s has a great time throwing it around and chasing it 🤷‍♀️.

LadyCatStark · 25/10/2021 22:40

@MakeMeCleanTheHouse of yes, Billy’s water dish used to feature in all of his zoomies 😂.

LegsMiserables · 26/10/2021 06:20

Can I join? We have a 16 week old pup and I'm panicking that we are on the last day of his critical phase! How many new experiences can I fit in before tomorrow?!

Kidding, sort of, but worried I have been too focused on introducing him to new things and not focused enough on getting him used to being left alone. I'm in Sydney and we've just come out of a 14 week lockdown, so someone has always been here.

MakeMeCleanTheHouse · 26/10/2021 06:42

Hi @LegsMiserables I wouldn't worry too much about the leaving thing (although I have been...😄) I've not been able to leave my 20 week old because he chews. A week ago it suddenly stopped (not completely but I feel confident about his bahviour enough to leave him) My biggest issue is people in the house. It's all or nothing. We need to focus on leaving him but between 3 people who are not out at work consistently it needs planning. No one wants to be sent

MakeMeCleanTheHouse · 26/10/2021 06:47

Oops pressed send accidentally.

No one wants to be sent out and we are pretty open plan so someone here a lot. However I work 2 days (sometimes 3) out of the house and DD is student nurse on 2 day placements and DH ad hoc. So when it all lines up its a disaster. This week I am planning to banish people at different times for short duration then just build up. I spoke to our trainer and she said its not a problem to not leave him just yet and won't harm.

However get in all those other activities

cheeseisthebest · 26/10/2021 08:17

Same here makeme. Always someone here.

GuyFawkesDay · 26/10/2021 08:33

Well FawkesPup slept well as did I. Had a wee at 6am and then back to bed til 7:30am when I had a facial to wake me up. He's been so good adapting to a new house and having other people used to being round dogs and has come on loads already as they have all been doing mini training with him. Teaching him to spin and to do the through the legs proximity game too.

Bitey as hell, mind you. Loads of new teeth. And the limpy shoulder is back. Think it's related to twatty zoomies and falling into my parents pond yesterday evening. Glad I brought the shampoo 🤦‍♀️

tizwozliz · 26/10/2021 09:51

It's always men who want to give unsolicited advice isn't it? Guy on walk today telling me I should throw the harness a way as they give you no control. I told him I wouldn't as control comes from training not equipment. Wish I'd just told him I hadn't asked for his advice and not engaged at all. Odd really as he reckoned he had trained gundogs for 50 years and seeing as working dogs wear neither harness or collar where does he think the control comes from if not training?

cheeseisthebest · 26/10/2021 09:58

Grr tizwoli how annoying

LegsMiserables · 26/10/2021 11:05

Thanks @MakeMeCleanTheHouse I just want to be able to know I can nip out to pick up the kids while DH is out. There’s no chance I’d let him run free. He’d destroy the place. He’s really happy in his crate or his pen while we’re here, so I’ll just keep leaving home for short times and build up, I guess. Good that the trainer said 20 weeks is ok. It gives me some hope. My puppy Pre-school is very black and white.

tizwozliz · 26/10/2021 11:08

@LegsMiserables - photos are compulsory for new joiners Grin

LegsMiserables · 26/10/2021 11:13

Oh good point. I’d changed user names especially so that I could post a photo, in case my sisters stalk me. I just can’t see a way to do it on the mobile site…

LegsMiserables · 26/10/2021 11:16

Oh I have to wait 48 hours apparently

Aria20 · 26/10/2021 13:12

@LadyCatStark that's a big ball. Is the ball itself quite durable or do you think easily chewed?? I'm looking at the rugby ball shaped version as mine goes a bit mental with zoomies if she's allowed normal balls in the house but the rugby shaped one might not make her as crazy...perhaps that's wishful thinking though?!

Bobbobbobbing · 26/10/2021 15:01

I like the look of that ball- Ddog likes nothing more than to pull the stuffing out of things (current record for an "extra tough" toy was 30 seconds) so that might help satisfy the urge to disembowel things in a way that is more sustainable.

LadyCatStark · 26/10/2021 18:15

@Aria20 it’s been durable so far 🤞 and Billy is a power chewer. He has had a bit of a chew on it when it’s been empty but mainly he’s focussed on pulling the bits of Tshirt out of it!

LadyCatStark · 26/10/2021 18:18

Billy has had the best day ever on his first trip away. He’s been sooo good and played nicely with our friend’s tiny dog. They even sat in the pub together and didn’t cause havoc, except for Billy managed to spray water from the water dish everywhere! They’ve been to Blenheim Palace on the longest walk ever.

cheeseisthebest · 26/10/2021 18:22

I've bought one too! A hit so far!

cheeseisthebest · 26/10/2021 20:40

My pup was just so hyper and annoying I eventually stroked him to sleep! It's so like having having a baby!

MakeMeCleanTheHouse · 26/10/2021 21:43

I've just bought one as well. 😄

GuyFawkesDay · 26/10/2021 23:07

We've got a medium holee ball and will invest in a larger one. Used as a ball and a "yank bits of t shirt out" toy.

Xmas heads up: Kong wobblers are £12 in the range!

Bobbobbobbing · 27/10/2021 08:21

Cheeseisthebest- I have to do that too! You can tell he's absolutely exhausted but he refuses to switch off so I have to stroke him to sleep just like I had to do with my kids when they were babies.

Aria20 · 27/10/2021 08:33

@GuyFawkesDay I was going to get the medium for spaniel is it not big enough??

tizwozliz · 27/10/2021 09:58

Xmas heads up: Kong wobblers are £12 in the range!

Ada just barks at hers Hmm

adoreyou · 27/10/2021 10:25

Hi!
New to this thread. We have a 5 month old schnoodle.
He is our first dog so I have question re fireworks.... we have been invited to SIL for fireworks on the 6th.... we can take pup with us but wondering what is best.

Take him with us so he is around us if he is scared.

Or leave him alone away from SIL fireworks but where he might be scared by other fireworks going off?

He heard fireworks going off yesterday and just ran in the garden barking at them! So not to sure he will be that scared.
