The foghorn is sounding frequently and I suspect that's why I'm up enjoying the ambience of a foggy garden at 4am.

Hoping @BaconandAvocado is fast asleep and all the others with wide awake pups.

@TheBigMacDougal Love the poo bag stats! Pup is pooing 5 or 6 times a day here so I very roughly make that 300 bags in 8 weeks 😮

Absolutely chucking it down here. And pup is full of energy. We've already been for a walk, she's done her puzzle, had a nap, a game of tug and her treat ball. And it's still only lunchtime! It's going to be a long day

Newboy is in love with his ostrich bone!!

Me and DS1 took him out in a bag for some socialising in the park where he "met" some potential doggie pals. He was fine and his tail was wagging wildly!

Roll on Wednesday when I can take him out for a proper walk!!

Aargh. DH was hoovering and the puppy seemed curious about the vacuum cleaner so I let him approach it. In a split second his curiosity turned to apprehension and he peed on the floor. I’m kicking myself for not being more cautious. He has been doing so well with house training, no accidents in the house for weeks until today. I hope this doesn’t set him back.

tizwozliz · 02/10/2021 15:27

Enjoying cuddles on the sofa after a cold and wet dog training session this morning

Aria20 · 02/10/2021 15:30

JR pets have 10% off Xmas advent calendars if anyone is interested, they are still quite pricey though!

MakeMeCleanTheHouse · 02/10/2021 15:33

Great pic of newboy

We have poo buckets which I can recommend.... DH does a lot of maintenance/DIY and saves every single bucket or paint pot with sealable lid. It sits in the garden (with lid on) and we add to it daily. When full lid is sealed shut and in the bin. Saves using loads of bags.

Billy’s raised bed has arrived and he hates it. All he’ll do is put one paw on it and the walk around it stamping his feet 🙈. He shouldn’t have destroyed his other bed then should he??

On the subject of DH’s I think mine is finally starting to like Billy!

bargelights · 02/10/2021 16:13

Great news about your DH, @LadyCatStark. Though how he could resist at all is beyond me!

Shame about the bed. We bought a fancy dog bed for our previous dog and he never took to it. No idea why. Hopefully Billy will grow to love his raised bed.

We too have a poo bucket which is now full of rain water too!
SnoopDogisamenace · 02/10/2021 16:35

I bought one of those anti anxiety donut beds for Snooppup and he ripped the stuffing out of it 🙈

GuyFawkesDay · 02/10/2021 17:58

Took FawkesPup to cousin's to swap crates. 7 dogs, 5 people it was a hoot.

FawkesPup now has a girlfriend in their spaniel pup who is a bit younger than him, they were walking round and playing together and ignoring the other puppy. So cute!! 3 big grown up spaniels to socialise with and he was fantastic and went to the loo on command.... The power of sprats!!! Stopped for a McDonald's on the way home with the kids and he didn't even wake up 🤣

Awaiting the first tooth falling out as he is so bitey today..... horrendous. Two jumpers of DDs have holes in them 😠

LadyCatStark · 02/10/2021 19:12

@SnoopDogisamenace that’s annoying, those beds look lovely!

Billy is now on his bed… as long as I sit on it with him 😂. It’s a good thing it’s big!

GuyFawkesDay · 02/10/2021 19:23

@SnoopDogisamenace mine kinda shredded his too but it was a £10 eBay ripoff one.

I refuse to spend decent money on a bed until he's at least 2, because he will no doubt go through a bed shredding phase, just as I think he's too old to!

I know loads of pups suddenly get into bed destruction at 7/8 months so poor FawkesPup is on cheapo fleeces and tk Maxx specials until he's a sensible grown up 🙈

SnoopDogisamenace · 02/10/2021 19:23

@LadyCatStark yes looked so lovely and cosy. He got into in for about 2 minutes, found the seam and that was the end of it 🙄

cheeseisthebest · 02/10/2021 19:47

We've not had bed ripping up yet but oh my god the biting and nipping. It just gets worse and feels like that's all he wants to do! Sad
I've tried everything!

MakeMeCleanTheHouse · 02/10/2021 19:48

@BaconAndAvocado we used to use a lined pedal bin but it filled with water and was gross. Current receptacles used to hold some sort of outside paint varnish and has a plastic lid which flips back around the edges. That seems watertight

Pup was shut in crate with ostrich bone for couple of hours and not a peep. We shall progress to leaving the room next. He's now flopped onto the sofa next to me and his giant head was plonked on my arm whilst he gazed at me. I dare anyone to resist that

Well DH lasted a grand total of half a night in bed before ending up back downstairs with pup!

Toilet training is up and down. We are having to watch her like a hawk and take her out constantly, yesterday there was only one indoor accident but today we have had about three wees and a poo inside. The weather doesn't help, she gets scared by the wind and then won't go Grin how long generally does it take for it to click for them?

Aria20 · 02/10/2021 20:03

@GuyFawkesDay yes mine is almost 8 months and has started trying to destroy her mat! I had bought her the same bed as @tizwozliz recommended but have put it away for another few months until she stops this phase!

Aria20 · 02/10/2021 20:06

Trying to teach my dog to find her toys... she knows several toys by name, but I literally hid one under a blanket with her sitting right next to me watching me hide it there and I said "where's teddy" and she still looked at me blankly and then went and looked elsewhere.... dumb dog!

cheeseisthebest · 02/10/2021 20:10

How much exercise would you all think my puppy needs? 18 week old shih tzu, weighs about 5kg.

bargelights · 02/10/2021 20:40

@cheeseisthebest, we’re also struggling with nipping. For our pup, it’s usually an invitation to play or when he’s overtired and loses his mind temporarily. Grin He’s also teething so is quite mouthy in general. We are trying hard to redirect him to a toy he can chew on or turning away from him briefly so he learns not to nip people. Definitely a work in progress.

I’m afraid I don’t have any advice regarding exercise. Our puppy is younger than yours and about twice as heavy!

cheeseisthebest · 02/10/2021 20:43

Yeh I redirect to a toy but he just goes for the hand holding the toy. It's wearing!

bargelights · 02/10/2021 20:45

Absolutely wearing. I commiserate, we definitely haven’t cracked the nipping here.

GuyFawkesDay · 02/10/2021 22:18

I don't think anyone cracks nipping, it just stops one day??!!!

We have at nearly 17 weeks had our first fully no accidents day. This is huge. I am beyond tired and chuffed and I am so proud of FawkesPup. He's such a poppet, and is becoming so much part of the woodwork of this family.

cheeseisthebest · 02/10/2021 22:19

That's lovely fawkespup.
