Congratulations! He looks gorgeous. I posted here about boy dog names yesterday and got some great ideas. If you search on my name you'll find the thread.

Lockdownisshit · 24/01/2021 13:05

No-one can tell you whether a dog is healthy from looking at a photo. What BVA certified DNA and clinical health checks did the breeder show you certificates for?
Wolfiefan · 24/01/2021 13:10

@Lockdownisshit why do you ask if he looks healthy? How did you find the breeder and do you trust them? Breed? Have parents had breed specific health tests before breeding?

Lockdownisshit · 24/01/2021 13:19

I just mean in general
hes off pets4homes
There not registered etc...

Yeah, I even bore myself if I'm honest, have mostly got past even bothering responding.

However, if one person ever reads posts like these and doesn't buy a puppy farmed crossbreed from a mother (with no health tests) that's probably bred every season and then disposed of, it would be great.

So what research did you do into the breeder to ensure that you weren't buying from a puppy farm? What documentation have you asked to see?
XiCi · 24/01/2021 13:39

Grin

trevthecat · 24/01/2021 13:40

What research did you do? They aren't registered?

XiCi · 24/01/2021 13:43

Hes gorgeous OP. Is he a Zuchon?
He looks like a Hugo to me

Wolfiefan · 24/01/2021 13:48

So you bought off a website. From a stranger with no health tests?
Hope you have good insurance.
Local to us bought a pup from a similar website. Was KC reg. It didn’t live long enough to see if it would grow into a healthy dog. Died of parvo.
Buy an actual breed or rescue and do your due diligence.

Lockdownisshit · 24/01/2021 14:04

Hes a shih tzu

There is no registered ones available by me

Tempusfudgeit · 24/01/2021 14:08

Why is the puppy pad the wrong way round? It's absorbant side down! Look out, OP you're about to spend a whole lot of money.

XiCi · 24/01/2021 14:09

Will he be vet checked, microchipped and had injections when you get him?

Lockdownisshit · 24/01/2021 14:13

Yes he will have injections vet check & microchip
I seen mum & dad in the home

OP posts:
trevthecat · 24/01/2021 14:16

Have you actually seen mum and dad or photos? And why would you buy just because none registered near you?! This is why puppy farms thrive

FelicityWhiskers · 24/01/2021 14:17

How much did you pay for him? Do the breeders own both mum and dad - as that would be quite unusual.

KirstenBlest · 24/01/2021 14:18

It sounds like you don't know much about dogs, OP.

If you are spending a four figure sum on a puppy, you need to be sure of what you are doing.

YoniAndGuy · 24/01/2021 14:19

Fuck's sake.

Lucky that the breeders are in your bubble though, which meant you got to see the mum and dad in their totally kosher home and have a nice chat about the pups that are definitely going to be the only litter from what's definitely a much loved family pet.

Lockdownisshit · 24/01/2021 16:22

@FelicityWhiskers why is it unusual that owners own both mum & dad?
He’s £1000
