Hi, just for your info I have copied this from Champdogs. It doesn't look like there are any breed specific health tests, but if this is definitely the breed you want, you would be wise to contact a registered breeder who should be more than willing to give you all the info on living day to day with one. Champdogs has breeders listed, whether or not they have pups. I do not know much about them personally, but find out as much as you can to make a fully informed decision. Best of luck.

The Shih Tzu is generally a robust little dog and illness does not come their way easily provided they are well cared for.

The eyes of a Shih Tzu need daily care and cleansing and the ears need plucking frequently to keep them clean and clear. The pads require regular shaving to keep hair from between the toes from matting and the toe nails and dew claws require regular clipping.

If a shih tzu's coat is not groomed daily or clipped short it will form dense mats which can be very unpleasant for this little dog. As yet there is no widespread hereditary disease which is peculiar to the Shih Tzu.

How is it being rude to ask questions about if you have done your research on buying a puppy before actually buying one? Its a living animal, not a toaster. 5 minutes research would have got you all the answers to the questions people have been asking you, so if you think people are being rude its only because you are embarassed that you've put more effort into starting this thread than you have into researching the animal you will own for next 10-15 years.

Similarly, they can't believe your absolute lack of research. I think people are just heartily sick of people putting more thought into buying a handbag than they do a dog, and don't forget many people posting here will be actively involved in picking up the pieces of the issues caused by people like you basically making sure puppy farms keep making money.

You need to understand OP how upsetting it is for people who have done their research to see puppy farms essentially tricking people who haven't done so enough into thinking they are just getting a puppy, not contributing to a really awful practice. The anger feels directed at you, and some has been, but for dog lovers it's imperative that as many people as possible know about irresponsible breeders and puppy farms as they are cruel. Hope that makes sense, sorry bit of a ramble!

Also to add KC do accept cross breeds now.
Some of KC breeding is shocking too.
Look what they have done to the GSD spine.

As PPs have said, a lot of people are sick to death of people like you funding puppy farms by buying puppies with little or no research. Not being willing to wait for a responsible breeder, etc etc.

I suspect you won’t get your deposit back, and you’ll learn a hard lesson either losing £200 or incurring the costs and heartache of a sickly pup
