Do you allow your dogs on the sofa? If you do, do you have any rules? Grin

We do but on a throw. Draw the line at our bed though!

The last time this came up on here I thought the blanket idea was genius and got DDog a fleecy blanket - which he refused to lie on. He loves my nice wool blanket if I’m cuddled up under it, but his machine-washable, quick-drying one is apparently too un-chic. He knows he’s not allowed to put his nose too close to my dinner but has to be firmly reminded if it includes meat or fish and he’s not allowed up at all on the rare occasions it’s steak. He will go to his own bed on command though.

@Santaiscovidfree

Ds just took this... Believe it or not we have plenty of chairs. And ddog beds...
That's lurchers for you! We've got an almost identical one (though without husky sofa mat). Saluki cross? Sofa was non negotiable for my girl. We had ideas of making her ask to come up but she's usually coming into the room at 300mph and using it as a bumper/jumping post, so that failed quite quickly. She does get pushed off if not enough seats for the rest of us, if she's farting terribly or if she is kicking us for more space (lurcher owners will know) We are also fastidious (much to her displeasure) about cleaning her paws after every outside excursion.
Literallynoidea · 15/01/2021 10:09

Yes on sofa.

No rules.

RainbowRaine · 15/01/2021 10:37

No they are not

Unfortunately they don't seem to understand that.

Santaiscovidfree · 15/01/2021 11:29

No saluki in my small Lurchers... Big one has a saluki df..

Sitdowncupoftea · 15/01/2021 17:32

@MaidofKent78

Not here. We have a 34 kg lab x GSD who would take up far too much space (despite being convinced he is a lapdog...)
My two are bigger that that they both go on the sofa I just put throws over. If I asked them to move they do. I have two sofas in the room though.
Vicliz24 · 15/01/2021 18:09

Yes but he's a whippet so it's against the law to let them sleep on the floorGrin or without his blanket.

Yes but only on the one with a blanket on. He’s nearly 20kgs now and still likes to lay on top of me so it could be interesting when he’s fully grown!

Santaiscovidfree · 15/01/2021 19:28

Dh just splashed out on 2 x80 cm cosy dpet beds for the lounge.
Guess where the ddogs are?

He likes any free space. I definitely said he wasn’t going on the blue Chesterfield but as you can see, the cute eyes plus my exhaustion didn’t hold up for long. He’s well trained in every other area but I’m not fussed having had Cats previously.

This one isn't allowed on the sofa either!

Our girl has free range of the sofa, but we have fleecy throws covering that get washed weekly. She's not a high shedding breed, so there's no real dust or dog stink. That was one of my criteria when getting a dog - can't stand stinky doggie carpets/sofas...

OnlyToWin · 18/01/2021 19:56

Non shedding breed - allowed in the sofa, but often prefers to be stretched out in own bed. Wanted dog to be part of the family, so have been quite relaxed about sofas. I don’t let him on when he is muddy though!

Tangledtresses · 18/01/2021 20:00

God no she rolls in deer shit On a regular basis

She stays in the kitchen, allowed in the living area sometimes... but she prefers her space in the kitchen

SJaneS49 · 18/01/2021 20:41

:-) deer shit? I raise you fox and badger shit - stinkier and the older the better. DDog scorns deer poo for rolling, eating is another matter.

Amazing we love them really isn’t it!
