What's the most unusual breed in your street?

I know that unusual is subjective as a breed could be rare in one area but there could be several elsewhere, but I'm just curious to know what the most unusual breed is in your street or area.

Here it's probably a Kerry Blue.

I used to have a Tibetan spaniel so that was probably the most unusual in the last area I lived in, though a neighbour had a Giant Munsterlander and I haven't seem many of those around.

Chinese crested. Looks like a kebab on legs but is actually the sweetest little grumpy old man and full of character.

YerAWizardHarry · 30/10/2020 22:42

Our street is all staffies and pitbulls, comes with the territory of living in a council estate

Shannith · 30/10/2020 22:42

Oh and a par of Komondors. Gorgeous but massive.

Other than that it's wall to wall labs, spaniels and terriers.

MrsSpenserGregson · 30/10/2020 22:47

Our street is full of less-common dogs: there is a Bassett Griffon Vendeen (not sure if grande or petite - it's about the height of a beagle), a Saluki, a Bedlington terrier, a Corgi and an Irish Wolfhound.

The other street dogs are: springer spaniel, couple of labradors, cockapoo (only one!), pug / French bulldog squashed-face thing, staffie, border collie, Yorkshire terrier, mini hypo-allergenic crossbreed poodle cute thing, and my neighbour is in the process of adopting the cutest mongrel I've ever seen. Lots of dogs for only 50-odd houses!

Gotofriggingsleep · 30/10/2020 23:00

Ours I would say, she's a Sporting Lucas Terrier. Only ever met one other of her breed.

hiredandsqueak · 30/10/2020 23:03

On our cul de sac there are Yorkies, Jack Russels, Shih tzu, Lhasa Apso (ours) and a St Bernard so that's probably the most unusual.

FreshfieldsGal · 30/10/2020 23:16

There's only a few houses in our close.
Next door have two Dandie Dinmonts, that are old timers now and one is in poor health.
There's a Labradoodle and also a Scotch terrier.
We have a bearded collie who is the best though 😊

russetred · 30/10/2020 23:31

I'd say it's probably ours, we have a Kooikerhondje, which is a Dutch spaniel breed.

SierraHotel · 30/10/2020 23:32

Near us there are 4 different shar peis (probably got the spelling wrong). I'm 40 and until we moved here a year ago I had never seen one.

LeahDownTheLane · 31/10/2020 00:58

Probably mine as we have Pekingese...everyone else has labs, spaniels and doodle types.

Sertchgi123 · 31/10/2020 01:01

Corgis

StormsDontLastForever · 31/10/2020 01:09

Probably the neighbours 😂 not an animal just humans who behave like animals 🙄

fiddlerjo · 31/10/2020 01:15

The lesser spotted invisible dog, there aren't any others.

MrsApplepants · 31/10/2020 01:22

There’s an old English sheepdog down the road from us, massive with a long lush coat and very bouncy. Keeps reminding me of all the decorating that I should be getting on with every time I see him though.

Makesmilingyourbesthobby · 31/10/2020 01:32

Our street and area has plenty of -
Chihuahuas
French bulldogs
Labs
Pugs
Rarest in our street-
Scottish terrier
Sausage dog
German Shepard
Sharpi
And my liver spotted Dalmatian
I only know of two other dalis in my town who are both black spotted

susandelgado · 31/10/2020 01:33

Bedlington terrier.

AbbieLexie · 31/10/2020 01:49

Giant Schnauzer - salt & pepper. She's ours.

caringcarer · 31/10/2020 02:14

In our cul des sac 2 labs, a shitzu, 2 terriers and our 2 Lhasa Apso so nothing unusual here. There is a big dog that walks past some days though, don't know where it lives but must be near by. Enormous and long fur. Don't know what it is but it pulls its owner a long.

tabulahrasa · 31/10/2020 07:26

@BibbityBobbityBellend

Outing now but mine! We have a big black American Akita. He sits in the window like a cat. There are about three on the estate but all white. One in particular I haven't seen for a while (eek but possibly due to covid and travel times changing) was the opposite of my dog and always seemed lovely. We called him the good Akita and ours was bad.
Ah see, I know of at least 8 Akita’s near me... lots of malamutes and huskies as well..

Not that they’re the same, but, they all started appearing a few years ago when they got fashionable

There’s a lot of staffies, breeds that look a bit wolfy and then loads of poodle crosses and french bulldogs

Loads of dogs round here though, so even ones that aren’t as common like dalmatians and vizslas I know a few.

Someaddedsugar · 31/10/2020 07:58

@minsmum I always wanted a fox hound. They’re so beautiful.

We’re the only dog owner in the street and have a bulldog. I hadn’t seen the breed in our village when we first brought ours home and now there’re at least four houses with them (and one with multiple dogs - we think they’re breeders).

Ylvamoon · 31/10/2020 07:58

My friend has a Samoyed, it's the only one I know.

Stellaris22 · 31/10/2020 08:42

Mine in our area, we have a basset hound and have yet to see another.

I saw a Borzoi at one of those friendly dog shows once.

Bunnybigears · 31/10/2020 08:49

Our dog is the rarest in our street because he isnt a breed or a designer mongrel he is a 100% Heinz 57 I couldn't come up with a fancy name for him if I tried.

What's the most unusual breed in your street?
SedentaryCat · 31/10/2020 08:57

Only one dog in the street - it's a Beiwer Terrier.

ArmchairCritics · 31/10/2020 08:58

@sweetkitty I have ridgeback envy, what’s he/she like? RR is my dream dog, do you have kids at home? I love the idea of one as a family dog but have heard varying reports of suitability...
