OMG - I'm in shock!

Just browsing FB and I see a dog for adoption as his owner has gone into a nursing home. 12 year old collie/Serra da Estrela cross.

Just so happens I have a 12 year old collie/Serra da Estrela cross - his full brother!!! So of course we're going to adopt him. Dog #8!!!

Love this! They may recognise each other. We rent some of our fields out to horses and a few years back a new lady came with her horse. The field she's in backs onto our back garden. One day I was in the bedroom and saw a dog looking suspiciously like mine running round the field with her so ran out to call him back in. Turns out he wasnt my dog, but was the brother of mine! She had rescued him from quite a distance away so had no idea he was originally from this area. The dogs were UNBELIEVABLY excited to see each other and now every time she poo picks her field, my dog sits at the gate whining to be let out to play with her dog. Her dog is also the only dog mine will cuddle up to, normally he loves his own space, but we had her dog to stay and they both curled up together.

It sounds like your home is the perfect place for this dog. I'm glad you saw that he needed a home and are there for him (with his brother!)

Ah my df had a Red Setter when I was a dc!! Only ever see the same 1 where I live. Shame they aren't more popular!

I met someone who said she had a dog just like mine. Comparing notes we found ours are siblings. She said hers was “ Absolutely mental!” so yes, must be his sister!
