Aw Bitey - hope he's doing ok. I bet it is just drinking the rank water. We are in very sunny spring now so the snow is very patchy and melting down at village level, revealing all sorts of treasures that have been hidden for a while. I tried to chase Ddog away from something she'd unearthed the other day (knowing it would be some sort of animal poo) but she ran off with her treasure... then 10 minutes later was sick in the forest (clearly the poo she'd just eaten). So gross!

BiteyShark · 30/03/2019 16:56

They are indeed gross. God knows why the smelliest rotten scrap of meat is tasty to them.

I am sure BiteyDog would have done the same with the chicken. Let's hope the chicken had a scary but lucky escape and survived.

I once had a chicken that had such a close shave with a fox that she was missing a chunk of neck feathers (her two friends were not so lucky). She lived for a long while after that! They're surprisingly resilient when they want to be - and then keep over for no apparent reason at other times.

distantdog · 30/03/2019 19:25

Oh Avocados - I'm so glad to hear that as we have never had chickens and thought I was being ridiculously Pollyannaish to have thought it might have survived... there were a lot of feathers... BUT... it did manage to scarper some distance when she'd dropped it as we couldn't see it anywhere. Plus we probably would have heard from the neighbours had it died I guess.... we did offer to compensate them... I think her gun dog retrieval genes must have kicked in as she clearly had no interest in killing or eating the thing, just trotted around with it looking pleased with herself whilst it was desperately squawking in her mouth!

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 31/03/2019 11:13

No guarantees it did survive but I certainly wouldn't rule it out. Assuming it hasn't died from shock it's probably just a bit slobbery and might take some time off laying.

It's a good job you've got a gun dog - if it was my terrier, it would have been curtains for sure!

BiteyShark · 31/03/2019 18:20

Looks like the vomiting was a one off, phew. Wish the furry mutt wouldn't worry me so much.

Yesterday I was looking at his physique and he has defintely put some weight on. He has a waist looking from above but only just. His exercise has been reduced and I have reduced his food but need to do it a bit more.

Dog and me went on a 5 mile walk and finished it off eating burgers and sausages in the park. Then brought her a pigs ear , which she carried home in her mouth and went upstairs to bury it under my pillow Hmm
First spiders, now treats ......

On a side note. We ended up walking past the house from where she was rescued from. Head down, ears flat and tail between her legs. She pulled me so fast past the front door. I gave her a big cuddle and told her it was ok, she was never going back there. Poor dog. It must of been horrible thinking I was perhaps taking her back. Note to self , choose routes more carefully next time Sad

BiteyShark · 31/03/2019 18:38

drinkswine maybe mugdog thought you might want a nibble of the pigs ear later Wink

Gosh how awful seeing that reaction when walking past that house. She must be very please to have found you.

Mrs pup had her first spider the other day, yuck.

I still haven't got her pigs ears, she's got paddy whack tonight.

Have found a hole she's been digging in the garden, it's getting quite deep Grin

BiteyShark · 02/04/2019 16:26

Mine likes to eat flies which I don't mind as I hate them. Haven't seen him eating any spiders yet. He is always snapping at the bees in our garden but hoping they continue to outwit him.

We tried cows ears in the past as they are meant to be less fatty than pigs but they also upset his stomach so they are now banned Sad

And right now he couldn't catch anything as he is just back from daycare and is shattered Grin

At the moment on our lounge floor we have a cows ear , some camel hide , an antler and the crumby remains of a dried duck neck it’s a bit like a Serengeti grave yard . Ddog is asleep on the sofa nursing a newly acquired limp on a front leg which will require a vet if it’s no better in the morning .

BiteyShark · 02/04/2019 16:38

Floralnomad hope DDog gets better soon. I hate limps because it's so hard to know whether it's something or nothing with them Sad

We had the same sort of thing a few years back and went down the X-ray route and were none the wiser but it did take weeks to resolve which is awkward when you are a super fit hound . He looked fine running this morning I only noticed it when he was walking so I then felt obliged to carry him home . It’s lucky I love him as he’s being a complete pain at the moment , he gave up dog food a few weeks ago unless you feed him off a fork so I’ve started batch cooking turkey mince / lambs liver and veg for his teas and scrambled egg and cheese bake for breakfast .

BiteyShark · 02/04/2019 16:56

Ssssshhhhhh don't tell BiteyDog that as we are currently cooking him chicken every morning to sprinkle over his breakfast to encourage him to eat it. If he had his way I would be doing it for every meal.

I once made the mistake of eating a bit of the chicken as it came out of the oven. The look on his face was a mixture of horror and anger as it was HIS chicken. Won't make that mistake again as I value my life Grin

BiteyShark · 02/04/2019 18:10

Ooo drinkswine how exciting. Bet you are googling all the habits of each breed and crossing off which ones match Grin

OP posts:
drinkswineoutofamug · 02/04/2019 18:16

The site told me all about them. Was surprised at staffie. The pure breed is the Mali the other side is the mix . I will screen shot for you

drinkswineoutofamug · 02/04/2019 18:20

Not sure how many photos I can up load
Grandad parents are Mali so are great grandparents

Won't let me load the rest

BiteyShark · 02/04/2019 18:24

Don't think I have come across a Belgian Mali.

Do you think mugdog has traits of each?

OP posts:
drinkswineoutofamug · 02/04/2019 18:29

Googling Mali traits, that's mugdog . The only thing about sighthound is the chase aspect. Need to google staffies

Mrsoh39 · 02/04/2019 21:14

Sorry have been really busy.
So Mrs pup has worms, she was sick at my mums and there was a worm in it, and quite a long one too, she wasn't due to be wormed until next month, feel really bad now Sad

BiteyShark · 03/04/2019 07:21

Hope MrsPup feels better with the worming treatment. Don't feel bad, it's normal for them to get them hence all the treatments.

BiteyDog is going to daycare today but I have the day off so plan to get lots of stuff done without the sad spaniel face pleading with me to play Grin
