I think that's how it feels right now. I have to drag BiteyDog out of the house and he doesn't want to go as he just wants to rest and sleep but he enjoys it when he is there.

I just wish the training was earlier in the evening and wasn't such a drive.

I'm so proud of dog today. She got left a bit longer than she should of ( clinic ran over) came home and no destruction. She was very happy to see me.

BiteyShark · 19/03/2019 16:13

drinkswine it's lovely when they welcome you back home Grin

Arghhh it must be start of tick season again as just noticed one on BiteyDogs eyelid grrrr. Need to wait until his treatment kills it then I can scrape the horrible thing off him without it hurting.

Eww. Hate ticks.
I need to get SquirrelDog a new collar. (Doesn’t help that I can never remember what the bloody thing is called - Sudexo? Senestra? Subbuteo?)

drinkswineoutofamug · 20/03/2019 07:40

Need to get mugdog ( love that Bitey) sorted for fleas and ticks .
She's excited to be going to work with her other slave today. Mention it and her tail wags and she grins 🙄

BiteyShark · 20/03/2019 07:44

Squirrel are you thinking of the seresto collar?

Ah I love a waggy tail. BiteyDog even wags his tail as a thank you when you let him out for a pee.

Squirrel26 · 20/03/2019 07:57

Yep, that’s the one. Grin

BiteyShark · 20/03/2019 20:09

Slight moan. BiteyDog is really good in lots of things but not with settling whilst he is near other dogs when he is on the lead (lunges as he wants to sniff and play).

Squirrel26 · 21/03/2019 06:45

I wish SquirrelDog was really good in lots of things. Grin At the moment he appears to only be good at barking really fucking early in the morning, digging holes in the garden and pawing me in the face.

Squirrel26 · 21/03/2019 06:49

I discovered an interesting thing yesterday. When I’m home in the evening he spends most of the time patrolling the living room windows looking for cats. Yesterday I popped out for half an hour, came back and there was one of his feline nemeses (‘Monty’) hanging out over the road. Looked at the window. No SquirrelDog. Played with Monty for a few minutes. No SquirrelDog. Got in, and he’d clearly been asleep upstairs as it took him a few minutes to appear. So it’s only when I’m there. What’s he doing? Does he think he needs to protect me from invaders??

BiteyShark · 21/03/2019 06:49

Squirrel that made me laugh Grin.

I think I am just tired and a bit grumpy so keep trying to remind myself that he is good in other things just not that. Finally decided to knock the agility on the head which means I will have more time in the evenings and although the scentwork is a bloody hassle to get to he loves using his spaniel nose so will continue with that.

BiteyShark · 21/03/2019 06:52

Cross posted. Yeah probably thinking he's your lookout for those awful dangerous cats that might attack you and steal his biscuits Grin.

We hardly ever go out at night. Just been out for around 90 minutes and had the biggest greeting when we got home. Thought his tail was going to drop off with all the wagging Grin

So we've been to the field every day this week, puppy is 15 weeks old now and loves going over there, she knows as soon as I get the ball flinger where we are going.
Today I took my mums dog and then met my cousin over there with hers, well my cousins dog found the last remaining muddy puddle and proceeded to roll in it, he was loving it, pup just stood at the side behaving very well Grin

BiteyShark · 23/03/2019 05:49

It won't be long Mrsoh39 before your puppy will be flinging herself into the muddy puddles as well Grin

Mrsoh39 · 23/03/2019 10:51

I'm sure we will be BiteyShark Grin

BiteyShark · 24/03/2019 18:07

It is so nice now the nights are lighter and the weather is better. I am enjoying less mud Grin

drinkswineoutofamug · 26/03/2019 19:28

So much nicer walks now there is no mud. My kitchen floor is cleaner! Dog is really well behaved. No destruction, much more chilled and not waking me all hours. She's been her nearly 4 months. I know it could take longer and she does have learnt behaviour, but I'm hoping we are turning a corner. I'm hoping she realises she has her forever home and is very much loved.

BiteyShark · 27/03/2019 18:09

drinkswine so glad things are settling down. I no longer look at my kitchen floor as often there are bits of dog biscuits and general dirt from BiteyDog Grin

Do you think ddog knew what he was doing?
Ddog is a Romanian rescue lived on the streets for first few years but adapted fantastically to being in a home. Last night after dark I was walking him along a street no one else about until I noticed there was a man walking behind us, fair enough. Ddog stopped to sniff something and looked back at the man so I looked as well and the guy had stopped, we started walking and he started walking again. This happened again. The third time Ddog turned and growled bearing his teeth at the man, the man didn't react just stayed where he was so Ddog started barking loudly. The man started to walk off in the other direction. It was strange because Ddog usually pays no attention to other people when out and about. Do you think he sensed something odd or do you think it was a coincidence? Btw I have no idea if the man was dodgy or not.

BiteyShark · 27/03/2019 18:47

BiteyDog defintely takes a dislike to some people that walk past the house but not others.

Maybe BunnyDog didn't like the body language of the man or he reminded him of someone he didn't like. Either way it's comforting that he has your back iykwim.

Hello all - hope all the pups are doing well. Ddog has been a bit of a PITA this week as DH has been very busy so she has largely walked with me during March... and now is refusing to go on walks just with him, a problem we haven't had since September. She'll go out for a wee and a run around in the field with him no problem, she clearly misses him when he is out and is delighted to see him, definitely not scared of him... but has just gone back to being SUPER clingy to me again. We think it might be because the last walk he did just the two of them before she went funny, they encountered a skier coming down a narrow path and it freaked her out. Things are a bit quieter for him for a few weeks so we're walking together and then going to try to start reintroducing walks just with him.

Put the Seresto collar on her yesterday... it's bigger and uglier than expected (I know, we are utterly ridiculous for caring about that!!!) but she doesn't seem to be bothered by it at all, so - assuming it works as she only paddles in rivers rather than swims - I guess that is her for the next 8 months.

BiteyShark · 30/03/2019 16:37

It's so funny how they suddenly regress again in their behaviour. Hopefully it will just be a temporary blip distantdog. The seresto collars are quite big.

BiteyDog has been great apart from today when I heard him being sick in the garden. Trying not to panic and hoping it's just a normal 'dog has eaten something' incident. The problem is that in the past vomiting has indicated the start of another IBD flare up or the rag eating obstruction incident. He did go for a swim today in a disgusting lake used by cattle and drank loads so praying it is just that.

Oh and in other annoying dog news... one of the nearby neighbour's (whom we don't actually know) chickens escaped a couple of weeks ago. Ddog and I were returning from a walk and she and I clocked them at the same time, but I had no chance of getting the lead on her and all her excellent recall went out the window Sad She just kept the poor thing in her mouth - no chewing or biting or blood - until we got her to drop it. DH saw and came dashing out so we got her back on the lead together, by which time the chicken had scarpered nowhere to be seen... we left a note through the neighbour's door and haven't heard anything since, so live in the remotest of hopes that the poor thing survived the shock...
