blue yes there is something about being able to turn around to DH and say 'it's your turn to let him out for a pee'.

Bluepuppy update.

I didn’t take him for a walk before I went out today and he was better when I got home than yesterday when I did take him for a morning walk. He did have a decent run last night. I’m so relieved I was really worried about him all day.

There is a theory that if you take a dog out and get it excited before you leave it can cause cortisol levels to rise and they can even still be rising once you’ve left the house and they’re e. Of course plenty of dogs can probably go for a nice calm walk in the morning and then just have a quiet snooze but my boy isn’t really the chilled out walk kind of dog.

Purplecatshopaholic · 14/06/2019 09:46

Thankfully, despite being a larger breed PurplecatDog is very lazy. He gets a bound about the garden for a pee first thing in the morning and last thing before bed, and a decent walk a day and he is happy to snooze on my bed or cuddle me on the sofa the rest of the time. If the weather is really bad he will refuse point blank to go out, bless him!

drinkswineoutofamug · 15/06/2019 22:03

Dogs behaviour has changed since having jab. She's pacing and panting, snapping and scratching at my carpets and her bed. That's the only thing of recent of any significance. No new food, no changes. She's now fixated on one part of the living room carpet and ripped it scratching at it. I've done some reading about it and apart from the usual side effects, diarrhoea, swelling etc it can cause behavioural changes. Will speak to vet on Monday. Failing that I'm looking to much into it, but something is not right

Will add she snapped at my face as well. Totally out of character

bluetongue · 16/06/2019 00:22

Oh no drinkswine, what a worry for you Sad

Fingers crossed it’s only a temporary thing and she’s okay.

BiteyShark · 16/06/2019 05:54

Saddrinkswine how worrying. Any change this morning?

BiteyDog had behavioural changes when he was on really high steroids. He stood in the hallway barking at nothing all night.

If it gets really bad I would phone the OOH vets for advice and reassurance.

How's things drinkswine?

We have a poorly dog this morning but not as severe as MugDog. BiteyDog got up in the early hours to vomit outside. He's so good really as he could have vomited on the bed but instead he deliberately went into the garden.

OP posts:
drinkswineoutofamug · 18/06/2019 09:20

We have a vomiting dog too 🤔

Behaviour is now fine. Back to her normal irritating self

BiteyShark · 18/06/2019 09:27

Back to her normal irritating self Grin

BiteyDog seems very tired and only half heartedly plays if I get a ball out Sad.

He is due a worming tablet tomorrow and I am wondering whether it would be best to give him it today incase he has eaten something nasty. However, I don't want to give it him and then he vomits it up.

Any idea what have me upset MugDog's stomach?

That should have said

Any idea what might have upset MugDog's stomach?

Really don't know, but just met another dog slave on the park and their dog has done the same 🤔🙁
Just does have a tendency to act like a cow but not eaten anything grass of late. Not eaten her breakfast. Drinking plenty. She didn't make it outside and threw up in my bedroom. Bile . No change in food/treats. I'm at a loss. She ran round like a dog processed at the park so energetic still. Wonder if it's a bug going round but your nowhere near me at a guess. I'm Cheshire way.

BiteyShark · 18/06/2019 12:31

I'm in the South. Maybe it's just the season for bugs Sad.

Fortunately he has perked up a bit and has eaten some biscuits.

Well we finally have good news , after 4 weeks , 2 different sets of lab smears and a scan floraldogs huge chest lump has been diagnosed as a lipoma . Yay !

BiteyShark · 18/06/2019 18:42

Floral that's good news. Must be such a relief.

OP posts:
distantdog · 19/06/2019 22:51

Hope the dogs are getting over their tummy bugs, and floral, that is excellent news.

Ddog was a bit listless on the sofa this afternoon and I was worried as she took it upon herself to drink from and then climb right inside a big bathtub on top of the mountain today that had water flowing into it from a random pipe. There are a few around the high pastures where the farm animals graze so I'm assuming the water was safe for animal consumption, though I suspect her constitution is less strong than that of the farm animals! She was just in need of cooling off and the later listlessness disappeared the instant DH got the treat tub out thankfully - it had been a long walk so think she was just knackered.

She subsequently rolled in some poo... absolutely no chance of getting her into a bathtub when we would actually like her to Hmm

We've got a couple of days back in the low 20s ahead and then it's due to get well up into the 30s for a few days so it's going to have to be early morning shady forest and riverside walks for her.

BiteyShark · 20/06/2019 06:57

What is it about water outside that is so attractive to them. It must be a nicer taste as BiteyDog will drink from anything other than his bowl. The weekend looks to be hotter but I don't think I could cope with temperatures in the 30s distant.

I think I need to change names to something like bastard in it so I can change BiteyDogs name. He has been a bloody pain at night. I think it's a combination of him not feeling well as he has a very runny poo at 1am this morning and him just being a pain in the arse wanting to have a sniff around the garden at 3am Shock

Going to have to be in the office a lot more than normal soon so daycare is going to cost a lot more. It's a good job I do love him otherwise the lack of sleep and eye watering costs would have him packing his bags otherwise Hmm

OP posts:
distantdog · 20/06/2019 22:34

Yes I have to say one of the things I like most about living in the mountains is that it rarely gets too hot and never sticky, particularly at night, even though the summers are lovely (no mosquitos being the major advantage) but we are due a proper heatwave it seems. Fortunately it's still close enough to spring - and a relatively wet spring at that - that there is still plenty of water in the rivers and waterfalls for Ddog. They were dry as a bone last summer when we got her but then it was nicely hot without being too much.

Hope you've managed to catch up on some sleep Bitey.

BiteyShark · 21/06/2019 07:41

Fortunately BastardDog has gone back to BiteyDog this morning as he didn't want any early hour adventures last night Grin

Feeling sad and guilty at the moment as due to work changes I will have to cart him off to daycare more often and had to cancel scent training as I can't get home and out in time. I am going to have to make it up to him at the weekends otherwise he is going to think the daycare lady is his owner as he will be spending so much time with her having so much more fun compared to me.

GrouchyKiwi · 21/06/2019 15:59

Hi all. Fell off the thread for a bit after going away for a short break.

GrouchyPuppy is doing really well, mostly. She's calmed down a LOT after going through her first season and sleeps about 95% of the day now. Hardly have to tell her off these days, though she's a bit of a pest again at meal times after DD3 was feeding her. Hmm

She's super good on walks, though, which is a big relief.

Today, however, she's barking for no bloody reason and won't shut up. It is very annoying. I can't decide whether she can smell/hear something on the wind or has finally noticed that we put up screening the other day to make it harder for her to see people walking past. Either way: shut up, GrouchyPuppy.

Hope you're healing well, Bitey. And hope MugDog is feeling a lot better now, wine.

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 21/06/2019 19:14

FFS I've just had to stop a wandering toddler from touching PestDog (child ignored clear instruction to stop and physically putting my hand on him to stop him). Picked PestDog up and walked off, put him down a short distance away. Child chases after us. Next thing I know he's raised his arm and is about to hit PestDog Shock and I had to stop him. I duly told the toddler off, loudly. Parents never did appear, and it wasn't exactly obvious which family he belonged to Hmm

In nicer news, we're off to Dogfest tomorrow which he should enjoy.

BiteyShark · 21/06/2019 19:46

Fully back to normal now thanks Grouchy.

I think sometimes they just get something in their head and won't shut up. I try and imagine the conversation he must be having with himself when he is in one of his barking moods so as to not drive me round the bend Grin.

How bloody annoying Avocados and if anything had happened if he had hit PestDog you would have been to blame Sad. Enjoy dogfest. Weather should be lovely.

OP posts:
BiteyShark · 21/06/2019 21:26

Do you wonder what they dream of?

I have just listened to several minutes of BiteyDog alternating between woofing and growling in his sleep Shock

OP posts:
AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 22/06/2019 08:04

Blamed, yes. To blame - not really IMO given I'd taken avoiding action, the parents weren't supervising and the child behaved outrageously. If the toddler had fallen in the river and drowned presumably the parents would be calling it a tragic accident, not a total failure of parenting Hmm

PestDog sometimes whimpers in his sleep. No idea why as I've never heard him do it when awake. I like to think he's dreaming of squirrels.

BiteyShark · 22/06/2019 09:13

Yes I meant you would have been blamed rather than 'to blame'.

I usually hear muted woofs when he is sleeping but this was full on deep loud belly growls so god knows what he was dreaming about.
