Not sure if there’s is a current thread for support for new puppy owners, would anyone be interested?

ChestyPuppy arrived on Saturday and is 10 weeks old.
Finding it tough as forgot how brutal the early days are. Our Chestydog died after 12 years earlier this year, he was my best friend Sad

Highlights of today have been...
Standing in the pouring rain in pjs and a coat shouting “do wee wees”

Dealing with a puppy pad snow storm from her shredding during the night.

Turning into a bitey hyperactive monster during a visit from my friends

Please tell me it gets better?Grin

6 months and 2 weeks update!

So I’ve decided I deffo love her now Grin
I look forward to coming home to her, nothing better than her laying on me watching TV on a night.
Very different to the feelings of horror from the early days!
We go to play sessions once a week that she loves and training classes.
Starting to work on assistance work, picking things up off floor for DM.

She still has her moments of being a knob Grin but can’t imagine life without her!

How’s everyone else doing?

4 and a half months. Shit at puppy classes. Recall off lead in a field is pretty good. Lively but loveable and puts up with my very difficult children. Training is hit and miss (he’s a bit of a dope) but he’s lovely.

five months on the 2nd April, and being very all over the place today by the afternoon. Lots of bitey behaviour and zoomies, despite being put in his crate for naps, suddenly reverting to..I dont want to be in the crate etc, clearly completely overtired..fast asleep in crate at 7pm. Wonder if he is now teething at lot more and needs to chew more iced rags etc, slightly not paying attention the chewing side as he has become better at walking on lead, and recall etc. Where has my lovely chilled pup gone? Two days ago I could predict his sleeps and playtimes Shock

He can now jump up on the sofa, which is a pity, because before if I ignored him he would settle on the floor and play with toys instead of biting me. Now he can jump up, pretend to settle and then start biting..

How did you master lead walking? Grey pup is a nightmare on the lead and likes to pull as he likes to meet everyone

puppy training class was helpful. Before I did the class he used to just lie down in the road, particularily at traffic crossings Hmm I used to drive him to the local park and let him off lead pretty quickly, which is apparently very bad Sad

she explained that it is important to always walk on loose lead, holding lead as if a horse's reins, obviously one end looped round your right hand, and puppy on your left, and the slack from the left, turning your hand in, as if you are riding! After a few goes, stopping when he stops, waiting patiently and never tugging you can match pace with the puppy. Our problem was him being too slow, and stopping all the time, really, rather than racing ahead, but I think the loose lead helps with both problems. We don't use a retractable lead either, or a harness. Training class said collars were better to get fine tuning. But in some cases if the owner is tugging all the time, collars are less good option.
