I managed to get BiteyDog out for a pee inbetween them but yeah pissed off that we have them again Sad.

BunchOfBastards walking on the beach is lovely isn't it but I haven't been back for a while as the sand irritated his eyes. God I miss walking on the beach with a bag of chips hungry

Wolfiefan · 01/01/2019 19:21

I suggested to my miserable lot that we go for a New Year beach walk. Miserable lot said no. Hmm

BiteyShark · 01/01/2019 19:25

Hmmm I was thinking I should have got DH to look after BiteyDog and I could have gone and grabbed myself a bag of chips by the sea. Religiously I used to walk along the beach on New Year's Day (once the alcohol was out my system to drive) 🍟

Wolfiefan · 01/01/2019 19:33

I thought you were sending that pup to me! Shock
Grin

BiteyShark · 01/01/2019 19:36

You might not want him at the moment. He's had lots of treats and is doing stinky farts [boak]

Wolfiefan · 01/01/2019 19:44

Can’t outstink Wolfie girl. Tripe. Grim!!

thegirlsallgrowedupnow · 01/01/2019 21:18

We are going to have a blast along the beach tomorrow, thought it would be too crowded today. Also planning a week away at the end of the month, maybe in Devon to push away the January blues. Cocodog will be delighted, she loves holidays.

Wolfiefan · 01/01/2019 21:21

I’m planning a trip away with my mum and Wolfie girl. Could be interesting. Shock

Squirrel26 · 02/01/2019 13:07

I am still trying to teach SquirrelDog ‘roll over’. Grin We have got as far as sometimes he will flop over from a ‘down’ onto his side and wave his back leg in the air. I then give him loads of treats and over enthusiastic praise. Then I ask him again, and he looks at me like we’ve never met before. Grin

I’m not especially bothered if he ever learns to roll over or not, but I do find it incredibly cute watching his little brain trying to work out what I want from him. Grin

BiteyShark · 02/01/2019 16:24

Very jealous of all these planned holidays. No more for me for some time unfortunately Sad.

Squirrel you are doing better than me at the roll over. He gets very worked up when I try and lure him over with treats so I have started trying when he is on the bed as he seems happier than on the rug on the floor but he is so frantically trying to get the treat that I don't think he is paying any attention to what he or I am doing Hmm

thegirlsallgrowedupnow · 02/01/2019 18:33

Was a beautiful day at the beach. We walked and cocodog behaved impeccably even though every second dog had a ball🐶 She clocked every single one but ignored and kept running up to me with a pleading look on her furry little face. Got her own back though at the very popular beach cafe for lunch. She was the only dog who had a stuffed Kong to work at under the table whilst we ate, she was as quiet as a mouse and she did get a ball play in the garden when we got home. Now snoring in front of the fire, DH also snoring. It’s going to be a long evening😬

BiteyShark · 02/01/2019 18:50

Sounds like a lovely day Grin very jealous after a day back at work Envy

Wolfiefan · 02/01/2019 19:03

Oh Bitey that’s pants. DH is not happy. He has realised he needs to iron a shirt for tomorrow. Today was a lovely arboretum walk.

thegirlsallgrowedupnow · 02/01/2019 20:31

Sorry Bitey , I was flat out on the run up to Christmas but because I work for myself I always take the whole of January off. Usually I do some decorating, catch up jobs etc but there is always time for a day out or three😁
Wolfie, my DH makes his own lunch, cooks and cleans happily but has always expected me to iron his work shirts. Very strange😂

BiteyShark · 03/01/2019 07:39

I would love to take a month off but don't have enough holidays and I have to keep some just in case of emergency dog care. Roll on retirement Grin

distantdog · 03/01/2019 08:32

sunny but very cold here at minus 10... and miracle of miracles... Ddog seems to LOVE her new coat. Shock Wore it yesterday and managed to get it on her without much distress (fed plenty of treats) then DH took her out and she was zooming around and rolling in the snow having a great time. I then took her out later for a short walk and she willingly put the coat on, no treats required. We are yet to try the boots again as it's quite icy and think she needs her natural claw crampons at the moment.

I'm feeling totally bleurgh after a long period of excess on the food and booze, so Ddog is going to benefit as I'm planning long daily hikes to get fit again... having a dog might mean I actually stick to this resolution for once!

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 03/01/2019 10:20

Haven't posted for a while - our puppy is now nearly 11 months old and such a sweetie! However, would really appreciate some advice re one problem. When we take her out to a cafe or pub, she starts barking at everybody who comes in or goes out - not continuous barking, but one or two little barks! Obviously this is annoying for fellow customers and we have been banned from one cafe in town already! We have done all we can to stop her doing this to no avail. Ideas, please?

distantdog · 03/01/2019 10:48

No advice from here I'm afraid MilkTray as Ddog would do exactly the same - quiet as a mouse until feeling confident and settled and then would bark at men entering or leaving... so we sit outside or only go to places owned by friends at times when they don't mind. I guess only suggestion is somewhere large/noisy enough for people not to notice the odd little bark and a kong under the table to distract as sounds like that works for Cocodog?

thegirlsallgrowedupnow · 03/01/2019 14:37

Hi MilkTray, Cocodog has never been a barky dog but very prone to being over excitable and over stimulated as a pup. I introduced a Kong when we ate out to guarantee a relaxed meal without a restless dog under the table🐶 For pub drinks and coffee out I took loads of treats with treats for quiet, calm behaviour and a gentle but firm aah aah for wrong doing😁 it took a while and a lot of consistency but now I only take a few treats with me.
I think it also depends on why your dog is barking, is it fear or excitement when strangers walk in and out and does she bark at the front door at home?

Squirrel26 · 03/01/2019 15:44

SquirrelDog has a new coat. It’s grey reflective material, and it has a weird little collar you can fold back and a Velcro strap to hold it on round the middle.

He looks just like Inspector Gadget in his grey mac. Grin Grin He’s going to wear it at all times forever now. Safety first.

Soubriquet · 03/01/2019 16:20

Speaking of coats can anyone recommend one for little shit..

She’s small but long...the coat she has at the moment is a small, but it’s so baggy around her legs she ends up getting her legs caught in it

Yet if I go extra small, it only goes 1/4 way down her back.

She’s so bloody awkward

thegirlsallgrowedupnow · 03/01/2019 17:25

I think Equafleece do made to measure. Cocodog is an awkward size too, her off the peg fleece (panic buy when it snowed last year) is a bit tight, her raincoat flaps a bit but is ok when held in place with her harness.

Soubriquet · 03/01/2019 17:48

Thank you. I will have a look

Wolfiefan · 03/01/2019 18:02

Pretty sure equafleece do made to measure. We bought one off the peg at an event they had a stand off. But Wolfie girl has a sister with one. Fits her perfectly. Pretty sure it’s made to measure. Waterproof and easy to wash.

distantdog · 03/01/2019 18:19

Oh thanks from me too for the equafleece tip - as I said Ddog somwhat bizarelly loves her new coat (so how come she doesn't like the thundershirt??? might go back to that and try it again) but the only problem is she's quite triangular and is getting quite solid in the upper body (think complete kong feeding as well as the mountain hiking is definitely building her up in this region) but long and skinny on the bottom, so a size down in her current coat would fit her bottom perfectly but be too small across the shoulders.
