Squirrel with the crate I think they are like children in that they are as good as gold with other people but a bloody pain when it's just you Grin

flesh good luck but it sounds like you have everything in place and I can't see why they wouldn't approve as it sounds ideal.

Oh forgot to say BiteyDog on the way to the holiday home and back was so funny. He behaved lovely on the back seat given it was a 5 hour car journey each way but everytime we braked a bit hard or had to go round a sharp corner he would do a really loud huff, clearly to be interpreted 'drive the car better as you are bloody disturbing my sleep Grin'

Oh, flesh, new doggie!!

Exciting. We were told we might have to cover our pond. I nodded sagely and said of course we would if necessary.
we haven't found it necessary and Steppedog likes to watch the fish and drink from it.

Rosette was at dd1s school fete. they had a dog show which I personally think was bloody brave!
But it was all good fun, loads of pets parading bumbling round a ring and then a fireman handing out rosettes to waggiest tail, most beautiful lady etc.

we got 3rd in the waggiest tail. I should bloody well hope so, I washed him and then brushed his tail, so it was a beauuuutiful white flag. Then dds had a plan. Dd1 hid until time to go into the ring, dd2 walked steppedog into the ring, and then dd1 appeared. Steppedog was so happy to have found her, he wagged away and won a prize.

better than kids getting certificates.

I declined to enter the obedience class.......

Steppe no pond here it really is half patio and half dying grass. Gardens have never interested me.It used to have slide and playhouse and toys and paddling pool but those days are long gone. Eric only goes out there if I go to the washing line and he only does that so he can make sure the neighbour isn't near the fence. Once he's checked he leaves me to it if he's not there or stands next to my feet pretending he's a guard dog and giving the odd growl if he dares to look our way.
I figure if Eric is happy and safe here when he cannot bear to miss anything and can climb and jump three times his height then an older dog is unlikely to manage anything that Eric can't.

Bitey, when we go on holiday, Cocodogs night time bed fills the boot. She has one bigger than she needs because she sleeps very stretched out on her side or back. All other gear in the back seat and foot wells . This makes her very visible out of the back window and DH amuses himself watching how many people wave to her when we are in slow traffic. She always sits bolt upright whenever we slow down or hit a town. Brilliant trick if I could teach her to wave a paw back😀
Steppe, happy days! Makes me remember my own children when they were small trying to get our black lab to win waggiest tail. They didn’t have a plan unfortunately and she sat very firmly on her tail and refused to wag it at all. Then my son let go of her lead and she headed straight for the refreshments tent wagging it mightily.
Flesh, good luck with the home check.
Squirrel, is there a reason why do you need to crate train?

Well done Wolfie dog and owner Star

BiteyShark · 16/07/2018 14:24

Well done WolfieDog 🏆

All these medals and wins Grin. I wouldn't dare enter BiteyDog for anything other than a competition for the biggest spaniel greeting of licks/jumps and wiggles and surprisingly haven't seen any prizes for that Grin

thegirl I love seeing other dogs in car boots looking out when we are stuck in traffic.

well done wolfie dog!

Bitey, on the flyer they had a category for the dog who could beat Mr Headteacher's dog catching sausages.

we were all set for that one, food being steppedogs main motivation in life, most disappointed that they cancelled that category.

Friendliest dog, that is what biteydog would win

BiteyShark · 16/07/2018 15:01

Friendliest dog yes he could enter that one but pity the judge who would have to be licked a lot Grin
I have to keep telling him not everyone loves him as much as he loves them Blush

Shame the sausage catching one was cancelled as that would be fun to watch Grin

Wolfiefan · 16/07/2018 15:37

We went to a wolfhound event where they played a sausage treasure hunt. As madam gets an upset tum if she eats sausages we decided to swerve that one!

steppemum · 16/07/2018 15:54

I am convinced that steppedog's gut is made of steel.

yesterday we came home and there was an empty margarine Olive Spread tub on the floor.
It was brand new and complete;y full in the morning, and I forgot to put it back in the fridge.

I was waiting for the ahem greasy explosion.

Nothing. Totally normal, no issues Hmm

fleshmarketclose · 16/07/2018 16:07

Home check all done and she says yes Grin Introductions tomorrow and I can't wait.

BiteyShark · 16/07/2018 16:20

Good news flesh. Really hope the introductions go well with FleshDog.

OP posts:
Wolfiefan · 16/07/2018 16:30

Good luck with the introductions.
Wow. Steppe really does have a gut of steel. That would see a mess of epic proportion here!

Squirrel26 · 16/07/2018 16:47

Well done Wolfiedog, and flesh household!

No particular need for crate training, which is why I haven’t pushed it previously, but he gets quite wound up in the evenings going from window to window hearing monsters outside & finds it hard to settle which pisses me off when I’m trying to watch Eastenders He was apparently really happy in a crate while I was away and was fed in there and then went to sleep (door open, but he was just calm & relaxed) so we thought it was worth a try at home. He also gets wound up in new places, so it would be useful to have somewhere he feels safe when he’s away with me. (He doesn’t have a bed because he kills all the soft ones and has no interest in settling in the hard plastic one.)

Squirrel26 · 16/07/2018 16:49

Bitey judging by other Cockers I know, BiteyDog could probably win ‘highest jump from a standing start’. Grin

fleshmarketclose · 16/07/2018 16:50

This is Bella Isn't she sweet?

BiteyShark · 16/07/2018 18:56

steppe maybe with all the non dog food rubbish steppedog eats then the stomach's bacteria has mutated and can cope with a tub of margarine Grin

Squirrel he does do a mean pirouette mid air when trying to catch a ball Shock

flesh she's lovely. Really hope it works out.

BiteyShark · 17/07/2018 15:30

So nice today with the weather. Much cooler so haven't needed to worry about BiteyDog getting too hot.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 17/07/2018 20:57

I am watching DS1 with BastardPup, who is having a mad half hour.

DS1 is in love. And I am loving watching him find out how wonderful dogs are.

fleshmarketclose · 18/07/2018 06:53

Well introductions all done, Bella is a poppet and she comes home on Saturday Grin. She is smaller than I anticipated, smaller than Eric even more like a rabbit tbh and really confident with people. You can see she has been loved and well treated. Took her a short walk and she is good on the lead. I need to remember that she's a bitch and so squats as had plenty of false alarms getting the poop bags out the dispenser.
I think Bella will learn to put up with Eric, she really does just bark and she will undoubtedly be the boss in that relationship but Eric is naturally submissive anyway.
Will book her in the groomers with Eric, they keep her hair long but it's not really practical on walks that we do as she will end up picking up twigs and leaves in all that hair.
I feel incredibly lucky that we are getting a dog ready made for our family and would definitely recommend going to a rescue as I'm in no doubt that she wouldn't be coming home if they didn't think we were a good fit.

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 18/07/2018 11:41

Is it just me who attracts slightly strange people on dog walks?

Last night in a park that isn't my usual - small off lead shih tzu type dog approaches me and looks like it is looking for attention. I bend down to let dog sniff my hand. Next thing I know the owner is telling me not to as it was abused and may bite(!). Before I know it I'm being told that anything other than organic raw fed will kill my dog, as will vaccinations, and that if my dog gets into a fight I should let them sort it out themselves.... I ended up walking away as soon as the next person had a near miss with shih tzu teeth and distracted this slightly batty old woman!

BiteyShark · 18/07/2018 11:59

Avocados I tend to get people try and tell me how to exercise my dog. That throwing a ball for him will cause him harm. Whether that is true or not I have no idea what possesses people to go over to someone who isn't interacting with them and lecture them. I have perfected my FO face Grin

BunchOfBastards mad half hour doesn't stop when they grow up eyes BiteyDog

flesh sounds like the introductions went well. You must be very excited.
